► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Why Podcast: I got this idea from one of my favorite former teachers and mentor. Stardacia Hudson, I just fell in love with the things that she did for people whenever she would release an episode of her podcast " Her light shines " it just brought a lot of love and warm feelings to my body every time I listened to her podcast so it inspired me to make my own.
My Initial Goals and motivations: Problems Of A Teenager Podcast's goal is to reach our teenagers from different varieties of backgrounds and help them in any way that we can concerning Mental Health issues and Teenage awareness. My motivations we're my family and I know a lot of people say that but my family has supported me since day 1 with sharing my posts, sending money for Ads, being guests on the podcast, and just keeping my spirits up in general.
When did I start my podcast: I wrote my first script with my best friend Alexandria on July 20, 2020, but I posted my first episode on July 23, 2020.
How long did it take for the release: It only took me 3 days to release the episode ( I should have done a little bit of research before I created my podcast).
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
How often / long it takes for me to release and produce an episode: To release an episode usually took us a few weeks but in season 2 we're planning to have longer episodes and fast release dates. To produce usually only takes us 1-2 days depending on when we make the episode.
Time for a podcast: The podcast Is my job I work on weekends and after classes and I don't have a problem with working because I love hosting my podcast and I usually have everything scheduled thanks to Google Calenders ( And no this is not an ad).
How much money did I spend and how did I fund it? Well since I'm only a teenager I have to ask my family members and save up but trust me when I say all the money that I make goes right back into the podcast and I've maybe spent around 2,000+ over the past year on podcasting.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Do I take sponsorships: Yes I do but since the podcast has just started we haven't gotten any yet but if we do the money would go to our podcast and some of the Non-Profit organizations that I work with.
How did I get my first sponsorship: Never had one sadly but we're working on that now...
How do you find sponsorships: Like I've said we haven't really gotten a sponsor yet but any social media platform would be the place to find some.
How does podcasting benefit me: It just helps me and lets me know that somewhere in the world teenagers are being helped and are learning life lessons from my podcast no matter what they are ( along as it's all good things).
► How does your podcasting process look like?
What tools/software services do I use: I use anchor because it uses great podcast platforms to distribute my podcast, it allows you to use your phone as recording hardware and it allows you to also edit audio on your cell phone or laptop.
How do I prepare each show: I start by finding a guess or co-host then I'll schedule a zoom meeting to talk about the topic and to write the script, I record the podcast through anchor or social media then I post the episode to all my streaming services and buy ads.
How I interview my guests: I usually do it through the phone or social media and I do interviews in person if the guests are in the same city as me.
► How do you market your show?
How do your listeners find your show: ( I'm glad you asked) Anchor, Google Podcast, Instagram for virtual episodes, Apple podcast, Facebook, Spotify, and many more podcast platforms.
What marketing channels do I find useful: I use all social marketing channels mostly because we're a new podcast and we want to connect with all ages so we have Facebook, Gmail, Instagram, Twitter, Discord, Google, and more.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Things I've learned based on my journey: I've learned to plan beforehand and build up your funding for a podcast before you start a podcast. It'll help you stay organized and keep your podcast together for your listeners to better understand what's going on ( I'm still learning to do the same).
Helpful podcasting resources: Gmail and social media have been my best friends ever since I started podcasting it helps me get in touch with my listeners and helps me gain more guests and more sponsorships along the way.
