► Tell us about you and your podcast
I graduated with a degree in marketing but my passions are all kinds of arts so I thought why not talk about it. My listeners are Libyans from all over the world, I try to diversify the diaspora so we get a collective of amazing individuals from around the world.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started this podcast to talk to Libyan creatives to talk about the diaspora and culture.I just wanted to show Libyans that there is amazing people and to inspire others as well as my self. We all lack motivation sometimes and drive so why not see the amazing people who no matter what put out amazing art work. It started in January 2021; but the idea came to me a year before the first release. It just took time and effort to figure out how I wanna go about it so that everything works out.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
It takes about a week to edit especially when I’m busy with work. Recording is about an hour or two, the cuts and edits is what takes the most time. I usually record in my free time whether it be days off or just after work. All of the work I fund myself. Most of the stuff is free except for my mic that I bought. I tried to just use as little money as possible just in case it didn’t work out for me but moving forward I hope to put more money and energy into it.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I don’t take sponsors as of yet and I don’t make money from the podcast yet but I feel as though those things take time and i don’t have a huge following yet so I hope so In the future to have those things.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Right now I just make simple posts from their art work and use iMovie to make videos. I use audacity to edit and it’s been working great for me. As for guests to interview I find them mostly from my network, I know people and I know people who know people so that’s how it’s been working out. I usually look into their past work try and ask them if they have any topics they would like to talk about like upcoming projects. I also see if anything is off topic or something they’re not comfortable talking about. I send the questions before hand to make sure as well and then ask away. I sometimes come up with questions on the spot as well and if it doesn’t work out edit out. I interview over zoom as of now but I hope to move to other platforms.
► How do you market your show?
My show is on all major platforms. I have a fair amount of listeners on each platform but Spotify seems to be the biggest listener base. I solely use social media as of now but hope to move to other forms of marketing in the future. Social media is really good because you can do all forms of marketing and it works like a dream. No need to pay for ads and youll be able to reach a large number of individuals.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
What I’ve learnt honestly is just keep trying different things until you know what works. The beginning phase is just a trial don’t be hurt by outcomes because you’ll soon become what you hoped to achieve. I don’t really use any resources I just try and figure it out myself and ask friends for assistance honestly.
► Where can we learn more about you & your podcasts?
You can learn more about me through my podcast and my social media accounts of the podcast. I want to create a website so stay tuned for that.
