► Tell us about you and your podcast
Visibility Era is a place for business owners and boutique brands to learn more about PR and Media Exposure as long-term business growth strategies. We talk about all things pitching your brand to media contacts, landing press placements, securing press features, getting on big podcasts and creating an irresistible brand. We interview professionals in the media industry to give our listeners the inside scoop on exactly what writers, journalists, editors and producers want to hear. Our listeners are business owners who have a thriving business (clients, website, strong social presence), but haven't yet implemented a PR strategy to expand their reach and grow the brand's credibility.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We started this podcast to bring PR information (that most small business owners know nothing about) to the masses. We've found that PR and Media Exposure are the most underutilized growth strategy for small brands, and we wanted to make the pathway clear and easily accessible. We both LOVE podcasts and have been active listeners to shows since 2017! Bridget, our one cohost, has also had numerous podcasts prior to this show. We started Visibility Era in June of 2023.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release episodes weekly on Tuesdays. We actually record our episodes live inside our free Facebook Community, Visibility on Purpose Community, so that our community can engage and ask questions. We fund this podcast ourselves! We do all the editing, writing, uploading and marketing ourselves :)
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Right now, we are still in the beginning stages of running the show. We are using the show to build our audience and strengthen our community. We also link all episodes to our Pinterest board and create blog articles for each episode to provide additional content and information.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use zoom to record our episodes as well as interview guests. Then we use a mixture of iMovie and anchor to edit and upload our shows. We find guests to interview through social media requests in community groups. We have a very specific criteria for who we will and will not interview, so that helps our vetting process.
► How do you market your show?
60% of our listeners listen to our show through iTunes and 74% are from the United States. We utilize a combination of Pinterest, Email Marketing, Social Media, Online FB Group and LinkedIn to market our show. We also use cross-promotion strategies when we bring a guest on to have them share the show with their audience to widen our reach.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Create a show with a very specific focus, you need to give listeners a reason to want to listen or learn.
