► Tell us about you and your podcast
I am an all-around nerd living out in the American Southwest. I love lore and worldbuilding. I have been imagining and writing up fantasy and scifi settings since I can remember. Way back in 2013 I started playing League of Legends at a volunteer organization I served at. Since then I have been following Riot and loving their games.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I have been a podcast-a-holoc for many years and wanted to start my own after I finished an audiobook project. Recording that was a blast. So I thought of League of Legends and all of the incredible lore. Then I realized that while there are many excellent lore discussions out there none actually narrated the lore verbatum! As a husband and dad of two kiddos with a full time job, I don't have a lot of prep time, so the fact that all my scripts are already written makes recording a breeze!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release weekly on Saturday mornings. I typically record earlier in the week on Monday or Wednesday nights, or Saturday mornings. Most of the time I can have an episode ready to go in an hourish. Honestly, I have no budget for this. Most the equipment I already owned and the software I use is free.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
It's fun is the simple answer. I am putting something out there that folks enjoy. The times that listeners have reached out on to me and we've chatted are so enjoyable. I would love to make some money on this but I have been enjoying it regardless. I am open to sponsorships and am currently learning how to find sponsorships.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I pick a champion or story from the League of Legends Universe nexus. Then I open up that page, audacity, and anchor.fm. Then I just narrate it! Sometimes it takes one or two takes to nail down a voice or look up how on earth to pronounce something. I edit mistakes as I. Finally I upload the final audio to Anchor.fm and add in simple background music. That's all!
► How do you market your show?
It's available on most platforms. Most folks listen on spotify and apple podcasts. I don't do a ton of marketing. Mostly just word of mouth, twitter and instagram. I am hoping to learn how to market better.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I am a new podcaster! Anchor.fm has been helpful. Find something you enjoy and talk about it. Don't worry a ton about quality to start, just build a consistent habit and a rhythm and go from there.
