► Tell us about you and your podcast
Dr. Rob Bell
Sport Psychology Coach
15 Minutes of Mental Toughness interviews Athletes, experts, and coaches about mental toughness and their Hinge Moments- The one moment, person, or event that makes all of the difference.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
My goal was to help listeners realize that no matter how bad our situation, or bleak an outcome looks, it only takes one! One person, moment, event, or decision will make all the difference in our lives. We just don't know when that is coming, so our role is to remain mentally tough. Hearing how others did it helps others.
Podcast is 2 years old and going strong!
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
New episodes are released bi-weekly.
My associate does most of the show notes, cover art, editing etc. Each episode along with the prep and interview itself takes about 3-4 hours.
The podcast is an awesome way to help others and reach them directly.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We have taken minor sponsorship, but are now seeking larger plans.
We average 3k downloads a month per two episodes.
The benefit is helping others and spreading the word about how others use their mental toughness and their Hinge moments.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We find guests by hearing about people's hinge moments and go from there. Sometimes these are from stories, or other people's podcasts, or from word of mouth. We get a lot of inquiries. Our guests have ranged from professional athletes, professional coaches, and successful experts from all fields of life.
► How do you market your show?
The largest marketing for us has always been our existing fan base of over 5k email subscribers. Yes, Instagram and twitter and facebook all help, but those numbers are difficult to actually see. I can only judge on likes, RT's.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
The idea of a podcast is so cool, because as long as someone has an amazing idea, it can be seen through to fruition. My advice is to always listen at 1.5 speed. It merely decreases the lag time.
