► Tell us about you and your podcast
I am a Chartered Accountant and a Business Transformation Coach.
For more than 30 years, I have advised thousands of business owners across various industries, and managed a diverse team of 70+ enthusiastic professionals across different locations. My clients range from start ups to large companies. I have seen many entrepreneurs go through the journey of ups and downs where many stumble, fall, and rise again. This experience and exposure of dealing closely with clients has given me valuable insights into how businesses function, what works and what doesn’t.
I have encapsulated those insights in the form of the book Business Champ - a complete roadmap to transform your business, and my Podcast channel Business Veda.
The podcast is curated as quick 10-12 minutes bite-sized learnings for startup founders on topics of productivity, team management, profitability and personal growth.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started my podcast in July 2022 and have recently completed 1 year of the weekly podcast. The intention behind starting the podcast was simple - to help business owners navigate the everyday challenges of running a business. The outcome I was looking for with the podcast is to equip the listeners with effective and efficient strategies of growth.
Another objective I had with the podcast is to gain more speaking opportunities and build credibility in my industry. Thankfully with 51 episodes live and counting I have been able to achieve and continue with both the objectives.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
From the very start I followed a very streamlined process of blocking out the first half of Sundays for podcasts. My initial challenges were to curate the content, familiarize myself with speaking just to the mic and no one else and also to get used to listening to my own voice. Thankfully from the very start I was working with a production company and they took care of everything from editing, to making me sound better to putting my content out in the world. They also helped me improve the quality of my original recording and come up with trend based topics.
Over the past year of podcasting, I have realized systems, support and consistency are key to making a podcast successful.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
As a coach my authority, expertise and credibility is of high importance. And one of the prime ways to establish these in a digital world is content marketing.
So when I created the podcast, it was not only content that I was creating and distributing, I was also building a digital asset. Initially I was unsure how long I will continue on this journey, but now I feel, starting a podcast for my coaching business was one of the best decisions as it also helped me overcome my fear of content creation and publicly putting myself out there.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
My podcasting process is very simple. The production company that I work with sends me a list of trending topics every month and I pick and choose the topics I want to speak on. I then dedicate 1 hour on researching and developing the content making it stronger with case studies, anecdotes, statistics and bulleting for easy consumption. I then record it every Sunday morning and send it to the team.
They take it forward from there. Once the episode is released I share it across my socials.
► How do you market your show?
My podcast Business Veda has successfully featured in top charts for Management and Business podcasts in India. A few things that have worked is
1. SEO titles
2. Short-form episodes
3. Consistent call to action with buy my book Business Champ
4. Announcement posts on socials especially Linkedin
5. Cross promotion by my outsourced production team
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Podcasting is an overwhelming task. It is unnecessary and futile to spend time doing everything yourself.
Get a reliable production team to take care of the stuff that you are not good at so that you can focus just on your zone of genius content creation as the expert.
I can say for sure, if it wouldn't have been for my production team. I wouldn't have been doing podcasts!
