Looking Back To The Classic, Beloved Disney Movies With An Adult Perspective

We are Kurt and Rob, the hosts of Pod of Your World - A Disney Podcast. Our show takes you back to the classic, beloved Disney movies you grew up with and analyzes them from an adult perspective (ruins them). We enjoy poking fun at the wild scenarios, character flaws, and general plot holes that these characters seem to miss, resulting in more conflict than really necessary. In addition to movie reviews, our show features several segments with Disney trivia, movie/character ranking, and other fun topics for our listeners.

As lovers of Disney movies, this is what we have in common and the reason we became friends in the first place. Kurt runs a recording studio and Rob is a graphic artist. Together, we have used our skills to create our show Pod of Your World. The show features original graphics and music from each of us that makes us unique.

We started prepping for the show in August and released our first episode in October.

Our actual first episode will never see the light of day! The plan was originally to focus on Disney's new streaming service, Disney+, but since shifted its focus as we found our niche. After recording and editing the first episode available online, we launched on all major streaming platforms a week later.

We typically release episodes every other week and will announce a change in our schedules if there is some conflict in our personal lives. It takes roughly 2-3 times the length of the episode to edit.

This show is a side gig for us and something that we are trying to keep casual and fun. We meet up on Sundays to record our episodes.

As of right now, we have not made any money podcasting. We have sponsorships through Anchor but have not reached the desired play count to withdraw any money.

Podcasting is a great side project that gives us something fun to talk about and listeners content to enjoy whenever they like. We enjoy what we are doing and improving exponentially with each experience.

Our tools include a decked-out Mac with a FocusRite audio interface and AKG C214 condensor microphones. We record in to Logic Pro X and do all mixing and mastering digitally.

We find our guests through Instagram or Reddit.

To prepare for each episode, we watch new content, take notes on material to discuss, and prepare segment audio clips and content.

We have had some guests in person, some through skype, and some through Discord.

Our listeners can find our show through iTunes (Apple Podcasts), Spotify, Google Podcasts, Anchor, ListenNotes, RadioPublic, Overcast, and more.

Most people listen through Apple Podcasts followed by Spotify.

Although it is still early for us, I will say sit back and enjoy the ride. Don't expect praise, feedback, or any response immediately. Have fun with it and put in the work to be better and you will get there.
