► Tell us about you and your podcast
I am a personal development aficionado. Being intentional about growing yourself and your thinking can pay big dividends, I've experienced it for myself and want to share this information with as many people as I can. My podcast is all about providing insights and strategies that people can apply to improve their lives. My listeners are men and women aged 24 to 55 that are looking to improve themselves. Some have been doing it for a while and others are still new to intentional personal develpment.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Podcasting is now a proven method to get content out to the masses. It it also very accessible from a tools standpoint. The cost of entry into the platform is minimal. I also listen to many podcasts myself so it was a natural next step for me. My initial goals were to share personal and career development strategies to people through interviews with people that have had success in various areas of life. I started my podcast in August of 2020. It took me two weeks to release my very first episode.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release episodes every two weeks, that is a schedule that I can keep right now, I would like to go to a weekly cadence but I'm not sure now if I can sustain it. I'm passionate about what I do so I create time in my schedule to do it. I do interviews over lunch or in the evenings and I edit whenever I can throughout the day or after the kids are in bed. I fund the podcast myself right now so I pay for a Buzzsprout subscription and Clip Scribe which is about $25 a month total.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I don't have any sponsors at this time.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Zoom to interview my guests and record audio to garage band with my Mac. I edit in Garage band and Imovie for video clips.
► How do you market your show?
I'm on all of the main podcasting platforms, Buzzsprout does a great job in providing a process to register your podcast in various directories. I use my social media, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to market my podcast.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Planning is important, you need to have a plan on how to build your podcast and your community. You can only go Helter Skelter for so long.
I really like a couple of podcasts for podcasters. Buzz Cast and Podcast Builder Club.
