► Tell us about you and your podcast
I'm a molecular biologist turned mindset and high-performance coach for entrepreneurs and on my show, I bring together the best from science, self-development & entrepreneurship to help ambitious, mission-driven entrepreneurs build million-dollar businesses without sacrificing their health, relationships, or happiness.
Topics include mindset, peak performance habits, smart productivity, holistic health, biohacking, mental health, marketing, sales, business systems, and much more.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I launched my podcast back in August 2020, directly into the Top10 charts in Germany and into the Top 100/Top 200 charts in several other countries around the world - this did not happen by accident. I had a system that allowed me to do this even though I didn't have a big audience and I didn't spend any money on ads.
The goal was to build my own platform so that I don't have to rely entirely on the ever-changing social media algorithms AND to turn this platform into my personal "authority marketing system". Having your own top-ranked podcast is similar to being a best-selling author: It kinda gives you that instant credibility & authority, right?
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I usually release one episode per week and I have fine-tuned my systems so that the editing doesn't take long at all - if everything went well during the interview, I edit the episode in under 5min.
I keep podcasting costs minimal (about $30/month).
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Well, what I find most valuable about podcasting is not necessarily the monetary aspect. I love talking to interesting people from all over the world about topics that I'm excited about!
But obviously, running a podcast also costs time, money, and energy, so it's great to find a way to offset that. I offer paid features or skip-the-line options to people who don't want to wait around for a free interview spot that might or might not become available. I have a really long waitlist (200+), so this is an appealing option for people who would like to promote a time-sensitive offer.
I'm also experimenting with a subscription on Spotify.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
The great thing about having a top 2% podcast is that amazing guests or their assistants reach out to me, so I really don't have to do a lot of cold outreach. Also, places like PodMatch make finding great guests a lot easier. And I'll still research guests when I'm looking for experts on specific topics.
I do take quite a bit of time to research each guest and to prepare a rough outline of the interview. I want to be prepared but also allow the conversation to unfold organically. It's about finding the right balance of structure & serendipity.
I currently record interviews via StreamYard.
► How do you market your show?
Episodes are promoted on all my social media channels: FB, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, TikTok, my newsletter, and my website.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
So many things...
The most important one being: When you start your own show, don't just stumble into it without a clear concept & goal. If you do this, do it right. Otherwise, it's going to be a giant waste of your time, money, and energy.
I've distilled everything I've learned about successfully launching your own show into the Top100 charts so that you can use your show as your own authority marketing machine. If people are interested, they can learn more here:
