► Tell us about you and your podcast
Helen Keller once said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.” Ms. Keller’s words inspired me years ago, and I have always sought to make my life as much of a daring adventure as possible. With This Daring Adventure podcast, I want to help other women to do the same.
I am a master certified coach. My listeners are mainly women from mid 30s to mid50s.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I was inspired by a podcast several years ago and it changed my life. I've listened to it ever since. I find it amazing that this free resource has so much potential to touch people and inspire them. It's a gift! I thought it would be so much fun to start my own podcast and so I released my first episode in May 2022. It didn't take long to release my first episode. I had spent a long time thinking that someday it would be fun to have a podcast, but once I made the decision to do it, it only took me a month to get it out into the world.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I started off releasing an episode every two weeks. Then I started releasing a bonus episode occasionally, and now I am releasing an episode every week. I keep it fun and I make up the rules as I go. There's no pressure. If I want to make a shorter episode, I do it. I started off releasing an episode bi-weekly because it seemed easier. I do have a day job, so I am mainly working on my podcast on the weekends and am funding it through my coaching business.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Podcasting is an opportunity for me to share what I've learned, inspire others and to help them get to know me. Maybe they will look me up and join my mailing list. Maybe they will learn something helpful that will change their life. Maybe they'll just enjoy it. Ultimately though, I do hope it will help them to learn more about me and coaching.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Zencastr, Captivate, and someone helps me edit. I've just started using Capsho for notes and transcripts.
I only occasionally have guests and they are interesting women I know who I want to speak to.
I prepare a list of questions and share them with my guest in advance in case they want to make any changes or additions.
I conduct my interviews over Zoom.
► How do you market your show?
My listeners find me on iTunes, Google, Amazon, Spotify. Most come from iTunes. I typically market to my email list, Instagram, Linkedin and Facebook.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I've learned there are no rules. Do it because you want to and make it look exactly as you want. Release an episode every week or once a month. Make it 10 minutes or 50 minutes.
Just have fun. Also, be proud of yourself for putting yourself and your work out there. The fear will be there, but it doesn't mean stop....just keep showing up!
