► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Tricky and I host the podcast Offended on the PWP Nation Network along with Stoutsy as my co-host.
Our podcast is about anything and sometimes nothing. We like to think of ourselves as the Seinfeld of Podcasts. A lot of hot takes, discussions about Pop Culture, Music, Pro Wrestling and sports (especially NHL Talk).
Our listeners are just about anyone; we like to cover all grounds.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
So I’ve always had the idea of starting a podcast, I just wanted it to be different. On a car ride home one day from Kansas City, we turn on Talk N Shop. It’s an older wrestling podcast with the wrestlers just getting drunk and talking about anything. Lightbulb went off in my head and then Offended came to be.
Once I had the idea, it took about 2 months to get it started and fully released. We’ve definitely hit our stride recently.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We record every Wednesday or Thursday night with every episode coming out Friday morning at 8am Central time. Depending on what is discussed, the producing is easy and simple with no cuts. We also produce a show "Hockey Talks" exclusively on Facebook.
We always make sure that we find a day that works for both of us. We prefer to do it later in the week to stay current but if something comes up in our personal lives, we will make sure to record at another time to get an episode out.
Promoting the Podcast is easy when you have a co-host like Stoutsy who works different hours than I do. We’ve been hitting a very solid reach lately and still are growing tremendously!
I fund everything myself with the help of PWP Nation.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Right now we are just trying to build Offended and PWPNation as a brand. We have been doing very well in finding new ways to get to new listeners.
I would say we have about a few hundred downloads a month. Obviously we are still new with 38 episodes in the bag, but our reach in social media is what we really like. We have reached thousands of people from all over and that’s what we want to continue to do.
We offer free advertising at the moment in hopes to show advertisers that we helped them out in a great way, hoping we can make money off of it. On top of the sponsors, we have our very own shirt available at the website Pro Wrestling Tees.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use a software called Spreaker. It’s very easy to use and I would recommend it to anyone. And most of our guests are our buddies that we over time have turned into characters on the show to be more relatable to the listener. We have musical guests from time to time and some other guests through Skype.
► How do you market your show?
The majority of our marketing is using Social Media. We also are sponsored on the Two Faced Wrestling Podcast and The Anything But Credible Podcast. Twitter has been great in terms of marketing.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
The advice I would give is to just be yourself and don’t over think things. Don’t try too hard to be something you’re not. In the end, more people will listen if they can tell you’re having fun and are being relaxed in the process.
