► Why & how did you start this podcast?
My goal is to change the face of leadership and culture across the business landscape.
To do a podcast was to amplify my brand and support my company, Heartbeat for Hire.
My podcast started in the summer of 2022. My process is quick and doesn't require a lot of editing.
I wrapped season 1 with 30 episodes and have recently kicked off Season 2.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
My episodes are released weekly. They are always both video and audio.
My podcast is self funded by I am always looking for sponsors.
It takes about an hour for me to produce an episode and they air weekly.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I would take a sponsor- but haven't found the right one yet.
I absolutely love my guests. Because they are masters at what they do, dragging their audience is always beneficial. It's a branding opportunity for both my guest and my company.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We record on Zoom and my producer does editing and graphics on the back end.
My guests are either people in my network or people who are referred to me by clients, guests or listeners.
I like my process to be raw and fresh. I purposely do not give questions to my guests beforehand as I like them to respond naturally.
Though I always have a set of prepared questions, I follow the conversation and can easily pivot to get to what I think my listeners want to hear.
I use Anchor for the audio broadcasts and analytics.
► How do you market your show?
My podcast is featured weekly on LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Insta and Facebook. YouTube has the highest numbers by far.
My podcast is linked on my website and shared on my newsletter and all of my socials.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Don't waste the opportunity to record on video. Using zoom works great and the (touch up feature is very kind to us older podcasters).
Take the time to research your guests and be sure to make your episodes interactive. I always have questions teed up but I like to follow the flow of the conversation and dig in where I think the audience would benefit most.
There's nothing worse than when someone asks questions, hears the answer and then moves to the next question with no follow up.
