I'm a single father of one child. I took custody of my son when he was three years old and I'm telling the story to other young men to learn how to navigate their court system along with maintaining relationships. There have been struggles, ups and downs; I discuss some of my most hurtful moments to be successful. We put out videos every Monday (this is my story about how I took custody and other strategies along with motivational videos), Wednesday (bonus episodes/ 1 on 1 interviews), and every other Friday (Live show with Jeff No Chaser). Jeff No Chaser is my co-host for our live show. We have published a few shows together and his knowledge about marriage and relationships provides inspiration for all. He is straight to the point and likes to drive his point home regardless of the verbiage he uses. Our listeners are fathers, parents, and anyone seeking valuable information with some entertainment.
 

I was one of two other podcasts before I started my own. It was my mom's suggestion to start my own show. She told me that I love to talk lol and from there I had to think about my purpose for the show. What expertise did I have to build a show around during my brainstorm. My son came in and asked me a question and it hit me at that moment. I can talk about how to beat the system and/or use it as a tool to achieve more time as a father or custody. I started the Farewell, Mr. Nice Guy in September 2023 and we started to do live shows in December 2023 on YouTube

I recorded almost ten episodes before I released the first one.
 

My thoughts were if I had one hour a day to commit to recording. I'll worry about everything else later. Funding is and will always be an issue but I wanted to provide quality content. It was a desire to make the investment to provide the best content I could and it wasn't easy since the equipment cost hundreds of dollars. I release an episode a week, some interviews we do on Wednesdays, and every other Friday we are doing a live show. Since I have converted over to live shows we are now producing video. It takes an hour to record one video and two hours to edit.

My day job is flexible and we get it done in the after hours sometimes it goes into the early morning. I spend a good amount of money on podcasting but I do all the editing, producing, marketing, and scheduling.
 

I gained insight and inspiration from hearing other peoples stories and provided them with my knowledge. Our show is looking to help and provide information along with bits of entertainment. We don't take sponsorship right now. The benefit we have from podcasting is growing our network with our podcasters and fathers.
 

Currently, our process is determined based on whether I'm doing a solo video, interview, or having a panel discussion. We/I will record, edit, and schedule the videos for posting. We use Opus Clips to create all of our shorts. Davinci Resolve for post production, Restream for live shows, Zoom for 1-1 interviews. We were using Riverside but its limits are restricting when it comes to the paid and free plans. I have a Rodecaster Pro 2 for recording audio, Sony camera for recording, and several microphones. I'm probably going to replace it with more high end ones.

I prepare for each episode by using a script or outline to assist with some of the topics. When I do panels I prepare stats and questions for the discussion.

The last few interviews I completed have been over Riverside. If the interviewee is nearby we can do it in-person.
 

We use IG and Facebook to market out shows. I'll use Fiverr every now and then to push a promotion for a show or something else. Most of our listeners find us on YouTube. We are getting more listeners on other platforms but most of them are on YouTube. I think IG and Facebook are good for marketing but I'm going to look back into google ads. It was the best for directing traffic to our videos.
 

The best advice I can give a new podcaster is to start now. Don't want the perfect time or when you have the money to invest. There are a lot of cheap alternatives to help you get started now. Research what you are interested in and can discuss even in your sleep. If you can't write ten topics for your podcast then change the subject. Threads is a great source of information. They are a great support system if you want more information about podcasting. The community is awesome and also messages us. We can assist the best we can walking through early stages of podcasting.
