► Tell us about you and your podcast
I'm Baruch. I produce and host Paradigms, a weekly one-hour show that features inspired, inspiring people with visions of a viable future for life on Earth, including humans! Creative people, some famous some not, from around the world, and lots of great music.
Paradigms listeners range from teenagers to elders from around the world.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I have a background in radio, and turning a radio show into a podcast was a no-brainer. Paradigms is in it's twelfth year, over 440 episodes.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Paradigms offers a new episode every week. It takes about 15 hours to produce an episode, from soup to nuts. I spend a few thousand dollars each year producing Paradigms. There is a Patreon campaign that brings in a small amount each month, but mostly I fund Paradigms out of pocket. I work part time as a mental health practitioner as my "day job."
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I rent space on the website occasionally. I had, and have removed, google ads. I am open to sponsorship but frankly am not great at marketing myself, so no sponsorships right now other than the Patreon campaign.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I find a guest I am interested in, contact them, schedule, do the interview via Skype or phone, edit using Audacity, mix and master using Reaper, distribute through the Paradigms.Life website and the Pacifica Audioport. Paradigms is on dozens of radio stations around the country.
► How do you market your show?
I used to market on social media and using google ads, but I have discontinued all of that and find that listenership is up. I suspect the increased radio play since Covid plays a big part.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Aspiring podcasters, I advise that you have good tools, learn to use them, follow your instincts. If you like it (whatever you make) odds are there are other people who will too.
