Explore the retail sector startup community

I was a Gartner and IHL retail sector technology analyst for the last 21 years. Brian, my partner, is a serial entrepreneur with several successful exits. His current venture, iterate.ai, is focused on innovation in the retail industry. Our pod is about the startup community working in the retail industry. Our listeners are venture capitalists, startups, retail leaders focused on innovation and the trade press and analyst communities focusing on the retail industry.
 

Brian and I launched This week In Innovation to give voice to all the folks working in the startup community. They are working to solve retail's greatest problems while toiling in anonymity. We want to create a space for them to talk about the challenges and joys of building a business.

We had been talking about doing a podcast for years. We finally launched in April of this year.
 

We are on pace for releasing a new pod every 10 days. As we ramp up I'd like to get that down to a new release every week.
 

I value the ability to give a platform for technologists to talk about the challenges they see impacting the retail industry. Since our guests a re mostly startup executives they are far less guarded than executives from the large technology companies.
 

I started on Garage band but have now moved to Descript. We use a combo of Zoom and Clubhouse for our platforms. We find guests through our day to day interactions in the retail industry.

The best advice I'd give any aspiring podcaster is just do it. Make your mistakes early and constantly refine your processes.
