► Tell us about you and your podcast
I am Coach Danni D, Work with Ease Coach. I help women leaders find balance, conquer imposter syndrome, and create systems so they can work with ease and see their purposes fulfilled. As an entrepreneur, I realized all of the pressures to be booked and busy. During a period of grief, I reached the point of breaking down under the pressure. I knew I had to do some serious restructuring to build the life I wanted. Now, I help women build their lives around holistic success.
My podcast brings together business, mindset, wellness, and finance advice to help my listeners grow their businesses and themselves. My audience primarily is women professionals and entrepreneurs.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
My podcast started from a conversation with a group of sister coaches. They knew how much I loved business and pajamas and they said you should do something with that. This random conversation ended with the name Profits in Pajamas and the suggestion for it to be a podcast. Honestly, I didn't listen to podcasts at the time so I was skeptical about the idea but I decided to give it a try. I quickly fell in love with it and kept going.
My initial goal was to help women leave the grind culture and the sense that you have to go all the time to be successful. I wanted women to know that life could be different and it could include joy.
I started my podcast on my birthday, January 12, 2022. I am very action-oriented so I had the initial conversation in late December and the first episode was released on January 12th.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release an episode weekly. I have one guest episode per month and three solo episodes. I keep the production simple and as a systems lover, I have created systems to make it easy to record and produce an episode quickly. After the episode is recorded, it takes about 30 minutes to prepare and upload the audio and video versions.
I don't have many expenses directly associated with the podcast currently. Most of the platforms I use were already in place for my coaching business.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I don't currently have sponsors but I am looking into it in the near future. Podcasting has had many benefits for me. I have watched my audience make meaningful shifts in their businesses and lives. I have personally benefited because I am much more comfortable being open and vulnerable. I have also met some of the most incredible women guests.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Zoom to record the podcast and I use Audacity to edit the audio. I use Animoto for the video portion. I find guests mostly organically. I have met most via previous connections or in networking settings. If I feel a connection and their area of expertise aligns with the mission, I will ask them to get a guest. I also have had great referrals from previous guests.
► How do you market your show?
Most listeners come from iTunes. I promote the podcast via email and on the social media platforms of my podcast and my coaching business.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
My best advice for anyone starting is to figure out your mission and just get started. Perfectionism is a form of procrastination. It doesn't have to be perfect on day one. You will adjust as you go. I would also say develop a system that works for you and a frequency that is doable. Set yourself up for success.
