The EdUp Experience is hosted by Elvin Freytes, Dr. Joe Sallustio and Elizabeth Leiba. Together we have over 60 years of experience in the Higher Education market. This podcast covers educational topics and leaves listeners up-skilled and motivated to continue learning. We have guests ranging from University and College Presidents to Ed Tech Entrepreneurs based in the US and abroad.
Our goal is to inspire and educate people to pursue a life long learning mindset no matter the path they choose.

Producer/CoHost: Elvin Freytes
Mr. Elvin R. Freytes earned his Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York and his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Northeastern University in Boston. He has worked for several institutions such as Michigan State University, University of California Berkeley, Columbia University, Boston University, Northeastern University, New York Academy of Art , Mildred Elley College, Touro College and the Manhattan School of Music. He has also lived in China where he taught English and was a college consultant. He has traveled extensively throughout China and has visited many countries such as Australia, Italy England, Brazil, Egypt and Chile. Elvin has 20 years of experience in the higher education field and brings a wide range of expertise such as international student recruitment, admissions, college consulting, housing, financial aid and academic and student affairs.

CoHost: Elizabeth Leiba
Elizabeth Leiba was born in London, England and raised in sunny south Florida. She is a published writer and have had several articles published in the Sun-Sentinel newspaper in Fort Lauderdale. She has also been published in the Seminole Tribune, the official newspaper for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, where she served as the editor for several years. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL where she majored in journalism with a minor in education. She also holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Global Management from the University of Phoenix and pursued Interdisciplinary Studies at Western New Mexico University. Over the past decade Elizabeth has worked as an English Professor both face to face and online for various public and private college and universities. Most recently, she has worked as an instructional designer for City College, where she develops and deploys online classes for almost 1,000 students across seven campuses in Florida. Elizabeth’s newest adventure has been serving as a co-host on the successful higher education podcast The EdUp Experience.

CoHost: Dr. Joe Sallustio
Dr. Joe Sallustio has brought his leadership to a broad range of educational institutions including a regionally accredited non-profit university, a regionally accredited for-profit university, and a nationally accredited for-profit college, giving him a unique and effective breadth of knowledge in online and on-ground higher education administration. In today's ever-evolving and competitive higher education enrollment and marketing consulting landscape, this diversity of experience is necessary to successfully lead a university into the future. With nearly two decades of experience in higher education operations, Joe has led teams in marketing, enrollment, finance, financial aid, student services, student affairs, human resources, accreditation/Title IV compliance, business-to-businesses relationships, and product strategy for on-ground and online universities. Specifically, his extensive experience in scaling online marketing and enrollment activities have driven the success of many of the institutions he has served. Joe received his Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University. He also holds a M.S. in Organizational Leadership (Strategic Human Resources Management) from Regis University and a B.S. in Speech Communications from the State University of New York College at Oneonta

► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We started the podcast in January 2020 to inspire and educate people to pursue a life long learning mindset no matter the path they choose. It took us 2 weeks to release our first episode. We listened to tons of podcasts before we got started.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release at least once a week but have lately been releasing almost once a day which has increased downloads exponentially. We usually work on the podcast during lunch breaks, nights and weekends. We fund the podcast ourselves but have had sponsorships and we spend about 8 hours a week podcasting.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Yes, we take sponsorships but don't really need it as we do this as a passion project.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use Anchor, LinkedIn, Google Calendar, Google Email, Google Notes, Zoom, Podpage for our website and social media channels - Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.
► How do you market your show?
LinkedIn and other social media channels plus an email list.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Start and don't worry about audio or production quality, just worry about content.
