► Tell us about you and your podcast
Melissa has always had an interest in true crime while Jeff provides some much needed comic relief with his commentary. We cover topics such as serial killers in our first of the month maniac episodes, missing persons, mysteries, and historical places such as Mcneil island penetentary.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Melissa loves true crime podcasts and has been listening to them for a few years. Jeff like true crime documentaries. We thought with our common interest why not give it a try.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Melissa basically works at her day job and then goes strait to working on podcasting every evening. It’s a huge commitment. Jeff is able to help 3 -4 evenings a week after work as well. We don’t have the time, we make the time. This podcast is currently funded by the both of us, we are hoping with our continued hard work to monetize it in the future.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We actually have not gotten to the point of earning any sponsorships at this time. It is one of our goals. Melissa is going to make a career out of podcasting in the future.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We have actually just put in the money to purchase the zoom L8 podcasting recorder. I have actually started reaching out to families of Missing people on Facebook in hopes that we can help get the word out about there missing family members. Although we don’t have any firm interviews yet, we may have a phone interview sometime next week. Our zoom recorder has phone call recording capability.
► How do you market your show?
So far we have basically been using social media as our marketing tool. Our podcast is available on variety of platforms including listen notes, Spotify, Apple podcasts, and Google. The percentage of listeners provided by each platform seems to be forever changing.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Don’t quit. It takes time to start building an audience. Nothing good even came from self doubt. Don’t surround yourself with why people, surround yourself with why not people.
► Where can we learn more about you & your podcasts?
