► Tell us about you and your podcast
Abdul Raoof Siddiqui grew up in Hyderabad, India but now lives in a suburb of Chicago, United States. He visits India often. He was always attracted to poetry from a very young age, his love affair with poetry started with his admiration for good Hindi songs. He always found himself fascinated with songs that had meaningful lyrics, though tune and music are important but for him lyrics still remain the soul of the song. He slowly drifted towards ghazals and started reading the works of Urdu poets. He still considers himself a student of Urdu. He pursues this passion of Urdu Poetry in his spare time to stay in touch with his Indian roots & culture.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started in September 2020. My goal is to create awareness about Urdu literature and language.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release a podcast every other week. It takes me two or three days to research, create a script and record. I am one man show I do everything. I find time for this passion of mine during evening or weekends.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I am pursuing my passion of urdu poetry, folks who who cannot read urdu script can still be familiarized with the beauty and elegance of this language through my podcasts.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Garage band a free software available on Mac. I have had no guests yet on my show, planning to have guests soon.
► How do you market your show?
I use my instagram feed & facebook groups to promote my show.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Start, don't wait, jump-in with both of your feet and produce content consistently. Follow your heart, you won't go long, if it is not your passion or calling.
