Talk About What Shaped The Lifestyles From Growing Up In The 1980s Here

We are Darren & Chris and we make up the Old Skool Movements. We talk about what shaped our lifestyles from growing up in the 1980’s. It was such a great decade for film, TV, Music, Fashion, Food and loads more. We pick a topic for each episode and sometimes have guests discussing that weeks subject.

We love to talk and thought why not record it and share it with other like minded people.

We started podcasting around Feb 19 and we had our first episode ready for launching a month later. This is still really new to us and we are excited about what we have done so far. We found a few people I. Out age group weren’t aware of what podcasts are. We try to get these people on board with our topics which in turn opens them up to a whole world of podcasting.

We aim to release an episode approximately every two weeks - work permitting. Recording in the studio and editing generally takes 4-5 hours per episode, like I said we’re new to this still.

The pod gets worked around a day job but we try to have a least one meeting every fortnight before we get in the studio to record.

At the moment we are self funded on very small budget just to cover basic advertising. As we grow we hope this will change, we’d love to see our adverts in stations on buses and taxi’s.

We don’t have any sponsors, we talk and record for the sheer enjoyment of sharing memories and reminiscing on our childhood. In this fast paced world we feel nostalgia has a place and it needs to be spoken about.

We use Soundclound as a platform and a basic garage band programme to put the show together, all basic really.

We have a meeting pre recording just to go through the topic and if we’re having a guest, we maybe put some Q’s together. We try to keep our delivery fluid and off the cuff so you get to hear our true reactions of remembering.

We use Facebook and Instagram to promote the shows. This is still part of the learning curve too. I’d say majority of our listens are via SC, iTunes and Spotify. Main demographics are U.K. and US.
