► Tell us about you and your podcast
We are brother and sister, I am 26 she is 32. We come from Bosnia from the war, so we like to talk about our past events in life that shaped us who we are today. We talk about the struggles and awesomeness of life and all the things around us that effect us whether that is current events or past, and even potentially future. I would say we would have the average listener base, and a lot of our friends primarily watch us since we don't really have a following.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
It just kind of came out of nowhere, we were just joking about it, and we both thought that it would be a cool thing to look back at far from the future of now. I do all the tech stuff and run it all and my sister just does it with me. It would be awesome to have it grow to something bigger then we thought it would ever be. We started at the end of February and we got it up and running within 2 weeks of wanting to start one, we have done 12 episodes (12 weeks) thus far and it has been super fun so far.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We try to record every Sunday, but sometimes we can't to it quite that day so we sometimes switch it up but at least by Tuesday, because then I have to produce it all and it takes a couple of hours to edit and then having to render it after I finish editing. We release an episode every Friday morning, with thumbnails and video on YouTube and then audio on all other platforms. My sister has a full time job and a kid and for her she just records with me and I do the rest. I do Uber and Photography so I find time when I can and sacrifice actual money to produce this, because it is one of my passions. All the camera and audio equipment has come out of my own pocket and potential future marketing will probably be between my sister and I.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I would love to have sponsorships in the future, but currently we are not even close to have sponsors since our following is so small, but hopefully one day we can get there. It benefits my sister and I by getting closer as family because we never really talked much before and to be able to look back and see where we were at certain stages of life will be interesting.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We currently film in our parents RV ( I know....) and we use my main photography camera for the main camera and we were using gopros for face angles, but recently invested in some camcorders. For audio we use 2 MXL mics and a mixer and use audacity to edit it. I edit it all on Adobe Premier, but I will use my streaming PC to start using OBS and Capture Cards for the podcast in the future to save me more time. I try to streamline all the work I need to do and make my life easier while making the podcast look and sound better for the audience .
► How do you market your show?
We get most of our listeners from PodBean and iHeartRadio, but I follow all my analytics on YouTube and Podbean (rss feed.) We are going to try a new physical advertisement here in the future we just need to find a manufacture. but marketing and adverts is something we want to do in the near future. It's just hard for financial reasons.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
You just have to go out there and do it, if you want to do something in this case a podcast you just have to do it. It's not easy, especially when you are not getting any financial gain out of it, but I like to challenge myself. i haven't really read any books about podcasting, because I kind of know the whole tech stuff behind, but being a host of a show is something new for my sister and I.
