OM DENNE EPISODE
A to do list can feel like a private battle, especially when you’re juggling business, family, and the invisible work of life maintenance. We wanted to change that, so we tried something new: Admin Social Club, a low pressure meetup where we sit together in a beautiful local space, order great coffee, and finally handle the tasks we keep avoiding. No hustle vibe, no forced networking, just real people showing up and getting things done.
We talk about why this works so well for us as neurodivergent founders with professionally diagnosed ADHD, and how body doubling makes the “mundane but necessary” feel achievable. You’ll hear a real example of what this looks like, from scheduling a long delayed mammogram to knocking out small admin that has been endlessly movable on the list. The surprising part is what happens around the work: natural conversations, quick moments of support, and the kind of connection that builds community without trying to manufacture it.
We also share what we learned from hosting in partnership with a local business, why we care so much about creating more third places, and where we think Admin Social Club could go next, from monthly meetups to bigger life maintenance resets that support mind, body, and business. If you’ve been craving accountability plus community, hit play, then subscribe, share this with a friend who’s overwhelmed, and leave us a review so more people can find the space we’re building.

00:00:00.560 --> 00:00:03.120
Welcome back to the Elevate Collection podcast.
00:00:03.359 --> 00:00:06.080
Today is a very special episode.
00:00:06.240 --> 00:00:11.759
This is the Plug Talk series, which, if you're not familiar, is a mini-series with just Alex and I.
00:00:11.839 --> 00:00:19.120
And we go through things that we're doing to build the Elevate business as mothers, wives, women, and founders.
00:00:19.359 --> 00:00:20.879
Welcome back to Plug Talk, Alex.
00:00:20.960 --> 00:00:21.839
It's been a minute.
00:00:22.160 --> 00:00:27.760
It has been a minute since we've gotten one of these down and recorded, but look at us making it happen.
00:00:28.000 --> 00:00:28.879
Here we go.
00:00:29.039 --> 00:00:36.960
Well, today is a very special day because we did something brand new today that's a new concept that we're rolling with the DLM collection.
00:00:37.039 --> 00:00:38.719
Tell our listeners what we did.
00:00:39.039 --> 00:00:41.439
Yeah, we launched what we call Admin Social Club.
00:00:41.600 --> 00:00:44.240
Admin Social Club is exactly what it sounds like.
00:00:44.399 --> 00:00:51.039
It is a social club where we get together and we are in community, but we're just crossing things off the list.
00:00:51.359 --> 00:00:53.280
Both Jordan and I are actually neurodivergent.
00:00:53.359 --> 00:00:58.159
We both have ADHD, and that is not self-diagnosed, that is professionally diagnosed.
00:00:58.320 --> 00:01:08.079
And one of the things that have been proven to help with like accomplishing tasks, things like that, especially the mundane things that we don't really enjoy doing, has been body doubling.
00:01:08.159 --> 00:01:12.319
And so it kind of burst from the idea of like, we're not the only ones like this.
00:01:12.640 --> 00:01:22.079
It was so cool to see everyone come together today to one, knock off things off their to-do list, but also find community in each other, even in unexpected ways.
00:01:22.239 --> 00:01:29.200
It was really cool because as you were body doubling next to someone, you were kind of overhearing sort of what they were working on.
00:01:29.280 --> 00:01:32.560
And then it facilitated really beautiful and natural conversations.
00:01:32.640 --> 00:01:40.239
And I think this is going to turn into something really beautiful where this community can come together to find maybe all puns intended to elevate each other.
00:01:40.560 --> 00:01:43.280
Well, that's you know, like that's the model of elevate.
00:01:43.680 --> 00:01:55.280
We elevate by elevating other lives of other people, and this is something I find so beautiful because it's there's so much intentionality behind it as far as what you're looking to do.
00:01:55.359 --> 00:01:56.319
And it's really about yourself.
00:01:56.480 --> 00:02:03.439
Like it's like I know that there's things that I need to take care of, but I also know that there's other people in my world that need to take care of the things that they need to take care of as well.
00:02:03.519 --> 00:02:14.719
So we get to do this in community over excellent coffee over in beautiful environments, and then we get to do this thing that gives us a dopamine hit, which is crossing things off of a list.
00:02:15.919 --> 00:02:22.240
Can you give our listeners an example of something you crossed off the list today, just so they can get a feel for what that looks like?
00:02:22.319 --> 00:02:23.360
And what was the timeline?
00:02:23.439 --> 00:02:25.280
When did you get that task assigned to you?
00:02:25.680 --> 00:02:27.919
You know exactly what task it was for me.
00:02:28.159 --> 00:02:39.840
So the task that I needed to get done that I had just been putting on off, and not because I didn't think it was important, but often I prioritize my work and like other things that give me more of a dopamine hit.
00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:41.039
I do those things first.
00:02:41.120 --> 00:02:46.960
But I had been given my mammogram order back on June 24th.
00:02:47.039 --> 00:02:48.960
And today is September 3rd.
00:02:49.039 --> 00:02:52.319
So I finally scheduled my mammogram and just I had to get it done.
00:02:52.400 --> 00:02:54.240
It's not like it took a long time.
00:02:54.400 --> 00:02:55.360
I just hadn't done it.
00:02:55.439 --> 00:02:58.400
It was one of those things that was always movable on the list.
00:02:58.479 --> 00:03:00.639
And today it was like it was immovable.
00:03:00.719 --> 00:03:06.080
Get it done, crossing the things off that are maintaining necessary for us to maintain our lives.
00:03:06.639 --> 00:03:09.360
It was really fun because we got to partner with a local business.
00:03:09.520 --> 00:03:11.039
Shout out to One Day in Paris.
00:03:11.199 --> 00:03:18.800
We love One Day, not even just One Day in Paris, but Celini Lau is an absolutely incredible human being over at One Day in Paris.
00:03:18.960 --> 00:03:24.560
And fun fact, she also has 888 tattooed on her, so we knew it was absolutely meant to be.
00:03:24.800 --> 00:03:33.919
But we are going to be working on a partnership with One Day in Paris to be hosting some type of event, hopefully this one, hopefully at least once a month.
00:03:34.080 --> 00:03:41.039
But we're also hopeful to bring it to other local businesses in different parts of the city so that we can reach different groups of people.
00:03:41.439 --> 00:04:09.520
Yeah, and like what's so beautiful about I think what we do here at Elevate that brings us so much joy is that, well, yes, there's things that I need to get done, but the birthing of Admin Social Club was also an effort to serve other people, and it just is a constant reminder of creating safe spaces for our community, for our people, for anyone just to show up, exist as their authentic selves and and do what they need to do for themselves too.
00:04:09.680 --> 00:04:15.759
So essentially, they walked out the elevate way by just showing up for themselves.
00:04:16.079 --> 00:04:23.040
Now, I was a little more hesitant on the admin social club when you first brought up the idea, but I quickly came around to it.
00:04:23.120 --> 00:04:28.000
And it was really beautiful to watch you take an idea that you had in your mind and really run with it.
00:04:28.160 --> 00:04:40.160
And it was even more incredible to see the women who showed up, how they showed up in the room, how the patrons of the restaurant were curious about what we were doing, and even the employees asked to connect with us to so cool.
00:04:40.399 --> 00:04:47.600
Genuinely create more third places in the world, which I think this is where the world is headed right now, more intentional connection.
00:04:47.759 --> 00:04:52.879
And of course, we did create some content just so we can introduce the people, but it wasn't about that.
00:04:53.199 --> 00:04:58.959
There, you know, there were no sponsors to this, there were no, you know, necessary outcomes.
00:04:59.040 --> 00:05:02.639
It was truly just a space to show up in and be in community.
00:05:02.720 --> 00:05:06.639
And gosh, what a beautiful feeling it was to be able to give that to our community.
00:05:06.959 --> 00:05:08.240
And that is the plug talk.
00:05:08.319 --> 00:05:09.600
It has to like that that's it, guys.
00:05:09.680 --> 00:05:10.639
That's a mic job.
00:05:10.720 --> 00:05:13.600
Like that is the beauty of community.
00:05:14.160 --> 00:05:19.920
Showing up authentically as yourself, doing what you need to do.
00:05:20.240 --> 00:05:20.480
Period.
00:05:20.800 --> 00:05:21.519
Like I don't know.
00:05:21.600 --> 00:05:28.240
It's it's difficult to not that it's difficult to talk about, but uh it's difficult to elaborate on because I feel like it just is.
00:05:28.800 --> 00:05:33.279
It just is, and I think that's the beauty of community, is it just is.
00:05:33.439 --> 00:05:40.079
I know that sounds like I'm explaining uh community by using the word community almost, but it really is.
00:05:40.240 --> 00:05:41.360
It's in relationship.
00:05:41.519 --> 00:05:54.800
It is it is being yourself in a space that feels comfortable around people that you may have just met or not have just met, that you feel comfortable to share what you're working on, what you need, and even make that big ask at the end of the conversation.
00:05:54.959 --> 00:05:55.680
It just is.
00:05:55.839 --> 00:06:07.040
Community is essential, I think, to our existence and that connection piece that we're able to foster today, and just the first one that wasn't even marketed.
00:06:07.199 --> 00:06:12.399
It was just hand-selected of just like, okay, here are some people that we think could really benefit from these things.
00:06:12.560 --> 00:06:14.399
And it turned into something really, really beautiful.
00:06:14.480 --> 00:06:23.120
And I can't wait to see some of the things that could come out of those connections that were made today that happened organically.
00:06:23.360 --> 00:06:31.680
It was really beautiful to talk about in our breakdown, you know, just looking around the room and everyone while in community was working independently.
00:06:31.839 --> 00:06:34.000
There were people who were taking their work calls.
00:06:34.160 --> 00:06:42.160
You know, we had someone go out and take a call in the lobby, someone who go outside and take a call, and then come back and celebrate the wins together.
00:06:42.399 --> 00:06:49.120
Like what an intentional way to celebrate the closing of the loop and getting those little dopamine hits.
00:06:49.360 --> 00:06:52.000
Well, she's a good little dopamine hit.
00:06:52.560 --> 00:06:57.839
Alex, what do you see the future of admin social club looking like?
00:06:58.079 --> 00:07:01.120
I love this question because I can see it better than I can tell it.
00:07:01.199 --> 00:07:06.720
And I know that's always difficult for me because I can see things, events in my head.
00:07:06.879 --> 00:07:09.199
Like it's it's more of a vision thing that I get.
00:07:09.360 --> 00:07:18.800
But I think it could be something really beautiful where it could turn into something that's large scale that allows people to come in and take care of their things, their life maintenance.
00:07:18.959 --> 00:07:28.160
Maybe it's a life maintenance weekend, maybe it's a life maintenance day, maybe it's a full reset that incorporates your mind, body, soul, business, social, all the things.
00:07:28.399 --> 00:07:35.360
I know it's more than just uh us meeting up at uh a coffee shop and crossing things off the list.
00:07:35.519 --> 00:07:38.879
I think it can be bigger than that because life is bigger than that.
00:07:39.199 --> 00:07:47.759
But there's something more here, and I'm excited to figure out what that something is put together.
00:07:49.040 --> 00:07:49.759
Me too.
00:07:49.839 --> 00:07:52.959
And thank you for following your gut and trusting your intuition.
00:07:53.120 --> 00:07:58.720
I'm so proud to be your business partner, and I'm so proud of what we're building with this community.
00:07:59.439 --> 00:08:01.920
Me too, and that's that's on partnership.
00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:06.319
Before we even finish this plug talk out, I think it's really important to talk about that.
00:08:06.480 --> 00:08:15.279
Is one of the beautiful things in partnership is that you get to be in community with each other and trust each other's judgment.
00:08:15.519 --> 00:08:27.439
And even if you don't necessarily see it all the way through, as far as like the vision, like the vision of what it could be or what it couldn't be, but have enough trust and be like, hey, like I don't know about it, but like I trust you, and that is sufficient.
00:08:27.600 --> 00:08:30.560
And I am so grateful that we get to exist in that space together.
00:08:30.879 --> 00:08:32.320
Oh, me too.
00:08:32.480 --> 00:08:36.240
What a beautiful gift we have to be in partnership with each other.
00:08:36.480 --> 00:08:41.360
All right, for those of you out there who are listening, we invite you to join our next admin social day.
00:08:41.519 --> 00:08:44.399
Be on the lookout for the release date of that.
00:08:44.559 --> 00:08:48.320
And also let us know what you could benefit from an admin social club.
00:08:48.480 --> 00:08:52.879
If you have any ideas around it, any types of service providers you would like to see there.
00:08:52.960 --> 00:08:53.200
Yes.
00:08:53.679 --> 00:08:58.559
Any ways we can show up as a community and create the third place that you need.
00:08:58.879 --> 00:08:59.679
Sounds good.
00:08:59.759 --> 00:09:00.559
We'll see y'all soon.
