► Tell us about you and your podcast
Michael Wilhelm: I'm a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (West). In creating The TEMP I draw heavily from my experiences as a Temp, while I was pursuing an acting career in LA. I had many and varied adventures jumping from one job to another. These podcasts dramatize the best or worst of those experiences. Take a listen for yourself.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
The TEMP idea had been bouncing around in my head for a long time. I wasn't sure what kind of format it would take. When I recently came across some audio drama recordings, It was a light bulb moment. I am fortunate that I am part of a wonderful theater company here locally, "all for One productions." When I wrote up the first three scripts I received a lot of enthusiasm and a long list of volunteers. My leading lady Lorainne Knox has even stepped up to direct the next set of recordings.
► How frequently do you produce an episode of The TEMP?
Its looking like about three a year. I know that's pretty slow for a podcast but the theatrical set up for each production is very intricate, It is set up as a live performance. At present it's a fully volunteer project which makes involvement a bit limited.
► What would you like to see happen with your podcast?
I would hope that a crowd would gather. I would like to develop a respectible fan base . We would love to find a sponsorship to fund our project as well, but that seems a ways out of our reach at this time.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
The entire show is recorded in a local coffee house and performed before a live audience. Scott Kump is our sound engineer and he has the magic touch with his sound equipment and set up. The first three episodes were recorded one right after the other and it took several months to orchestrate. We are hoping the next three will be a little easier.
► How do you market your show?
That is the great mystery at this time. We are new to this and the podcast is a bit unconventional as podcasts go. So it is primarily hit and miss at this time.
► How would you share your experience with aspiring (new) podcasters?
My head is still spinning with all I am learning about the podcast world. It's quite intimidating taking all this in. It feels exciting and new, much like television must have felt when it first came out. There are so many innovators that you can follow and learn from.
