Every week, Manika and her amazing guests have thoughtful critiques, plenty of laughter and candid discussions about pop culture and the latest in cinema and television.
Our listeners vary from seasoned cinephiles to someone who likes to rewatch their favorite comfort show for the umpteenth time.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Manika: I started this podcast because I love to watch movies and tv shows. It opens my mind to new perspectives and ideas. I always wanted an easy way to talk to others about films and tv shows so I started this podcast.
Manika: My goal is to create a community of like minded cinephiles. You don't have to feel like an expert in cinema and the entertainment industry to listen to the podcast or even be on the podcast. We welcome everyone with open arms.
This podcast was started in 2020
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Podcast episodes are released every Saturday morning.
Manika: I find time for the podcast in the evening. I usually work on it in the evening, but I always find time. I focus on the audio portion to be sure that a new episode comes out every Saturday and other parts do fall by the wayside sometimes.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
This podcast does not take sponsors as of yet. It is not the current focus.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Manika: I have a spreadsheet of people I would like to have on the podcast and people who have already been on the podcast. I will reach out to people with an email and offer to have an initial video call with them. The initial video call is a chance for a potential guest to get to know me, go over potential topics for the podcast recording and nail down a day and time. I will then do extensive research, watch films/tv shows pertaining to the topic and then create an outline for the host and the guest to follow along. All podcasts are recorded on Google Meet or Discord
► How do you market your show?
Listeners can find the show on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and wherever you listen to podcasts.
Best marketing channels we use are Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Manika: Please take your time. Have a clear cut vision of what you want to create and focus on that. Find people who can help you and build your vision alongside them. Be thorough in your research and take time to learn new things. Be kind to the people you work with and treat people with respect.
