► Tell us about you and your podcast
Mike grew his audience making short form comedy skits based on blue collar work experiences. Dylan built a video production company that focused on marketing & storytelling. We linked up to produce a comedy series & have been working together ever since. We decided to try reading some Reddit stories on social media & the audience loved them & requested we do longer form takes on a podcast. So here we are. We enjoy being able to give our takes on the stories & add humor to some wild stories.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Dylan has listened to a ton of podcasts & Mike has seen a lot of clips from podcasts.
We started this April 2025 with the intent of it being a investment before seeing much success. However within the first 2 weeks we received a lot of love from the listeners, making it onto the Apple Comedy Podcast Charts. Currently both shows are ranked on the list. We went from 0 episodes to having 25 episodes between the two shows within 6 weeks. We have an aggressive posting schedule (Mon-Sat), mostly to get a good amount for listeners to be able to consume.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release every other day for each show. So MADHD is Monday, Wednesday, Friday & 2 Daddies is Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. We create content for a living but have struggled with the social media platforms making us do gymnastics to make a consistent living. Between content strikes, restrictions, lowering RPMs, etc we needed to find a better way to bring consistency to our work. The podcast is free to host, we utilize Spotify & YouTube, & we already had all the skills & equipment to record & edit it. The only thing we pay for is the website, all the other things we already had since Dylan had all the equipment already.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We are really enjoying the genuineness of podcasting. We can have more free flowing conversations & not feel as restricted as creators. We currently don't have any sponsorships for the podcast. We would be interested in taking on sponsorships but right now we're building to allow us to start those discussions.
Overall we just enjoy finding a great story, turning on the cameras, & having a great conversation.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Our recording equipment is:
3 Sony Cameras for video & Audio; FX30, FX6, & FS5
Rode PodMics
Cloud Lifter
We edit in Davinci Resolve since we are a video first podcast.
So far it is just Mike & Dylan but we would like to eventually get guests on to expand the conversations.
► How do you market your show?
We promote mostly by using clips on social media FB, IG, & TT. Ultimately it's hard for us to specifically track where listeners are coming from. Most of our listeners listen on Spotify though.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Don't overthink it. In the beginning technically no one is listening so just go for it & learn by doing. You'll get better over time & you'll add listeners as it goes. If you have issues YouTube & Reddit are great to help you work through them.
