► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Kelsey Wild. I am a registered dietitian who is passionate about helping individuals heal their relationship with food, their body, and disordered eating. My podcast features short, easy to digest episodes on the topics of nutrition, intuitive eating, body image, diet culture, and health at every size. I cover topics for adults and also have episodes on feeding children. My listeners include individuals looking for an alternative to dieting, creating a more positive body image, healing from an eating disorder, professionals in the eating disorder space, and loves ones of people with eating disorders.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I started this podcast to give back to the community that helped me recover from my own disordered eating. Getting help for disordered eating can be expensive or inaccessible for other reasons, and I wanted to offer a free resource for anyone who needs it. I love podcasts of all kinds, and podcasts from other dietitian in this space really helped me as well. I want to spread the word to everyone about how to actually be healthy in our food and body obsessed culture.
I launched my podcast at the beginning of 2021, and am on season 2 right now. It took me a few months of learning and preparation before I got my very first episode out.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release an episode every week, however I have so far been doing 10-episode seasons and took an 8 week break between seasons. It takes a lot of research, planning, and editing for me to produce podcasts, but I am committed to get this message out there. I work a 40-hour week as a dietitian for a children's hospital, but I recently was placed on surgical leave for my foot surgery. This was when I started up the podcast.
I fund this podcast completely on my own right now, but I just signed up for ads through anchor, my hosting site.

► What do you gain from podcasting?
I am open to taking sponsorship and donations, but haven't made any money yet.
Podcasting benefits me because doing this work aligns with my values and I feel proud that I can make a difference, even if it only reaches a handful of people.

► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use anchor to host and distribute my podcast. Since I am funding this on my own, I mainly use free services. I record and edit in GarageBand for solo episodes. I record with zencastr for guest episodes, and edit those in GarageBand as well. I run all of my episodes through auphonic for additional editing and to make them sound better. I have only recently starting doing guest interviews, and I find them through instagram. I do a lot of preparation prior to each episode to keep things short and to the point.
► How do you market your show?
I have an instagram that has helped me connect with other professionals in the space, as well as listeners. Mostly my show has grown through word of mouth.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I recommend searching for podcasts about how to podcast, which sounds funny but it really helped me a lot prepare for my podcasting journey. I also recommend being gentle with yourself because it's going to be a little awkward in the beginning, but we all start somewhere.
