►Tell us about you and your podcast
LoudSports101 is my weekly podcast that covers virtually all sports. Each week I highlight one specific topic and bring my view to this sports discussion. Whether it is the best coach in the NFL, best Heisman choice, World Cup predictions, Stanley Cup, etc.., LoudSports101 brings our unique perspective on the topic.
LoudSports101's fans range the entire spectrum of fandom, we have extremely knowledgeable, the casual and the newcomer fans of sports. Our weekly podcasts accommodate fans of all levels with detailed stats and details all presented in a manner that even those new to the sport will understand.
►Why & how did you start this podcast?
LoudSports101 was created because of Connor's passion to become a professional sports commentator. Connor is that guy everyone goes to for sports info and his family figured we could easily share his knowledge of sports with the entire internet, by starting this podcast.
While the podcast did have a few sputters in the beginning, with now over 75 weekly podcasts under our belt, LoudSports101 has found our grove and is continuing to gather fans week in and week out.
►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
With a family behind Connor and his knowledge on sports, startup financing for LoudSports101 was relatively small. A website (loudsports101.com), a domain name, a mic, GarageBand and a willingness to work week in and week out to give our fans the best sports coverage we can.
While Connor does have other obligations, school and such, he finds the time to watch sports and research the topics of the day for the fans of his podcast. It is amazing how easy it is when the work is something you love to do.
►What do you gain from podcasting?
LoudSports101 is willing to accept advertising and sponsors, as long as we believe in the product.
Our monthly listenership is currently at 150 subscribers a month.
►How does your podcasting process look like?
A LoudSports101 podcast usually takes a few days of work before it is published for our listeners enjoyment. Connor decides on the weekly topic and researches it, gathering stats and putting together the show scripts. Tuesday afternoon the recording takes place. Once the recording is ready, the engineer finalizes the podcast using GarageBand. The final bit of work is to publish the weekly episode so our fans can enjoy all of the hard work that was done over the week.
►How do you market your show?
LoudSports101 is published through Google, Twitter, Spotify, ListenNotes and iTunes. A majority of our fans subscribe to us through iTunes.
►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
The biggest piece of advice we can give new podcasters is to talk about topics that you truly love. Connor's dream is to become a sports broadcaster and a weekly sports podcast is the next logical step. To be sure your podcast does not become another "job", be sure the topic you talk about is one you love, like LoudSports101's love of sports.
