►Tell us about you and your podcast

My name is Jack Kilby, my limited series podcast "Front of the Line with Jack Kilby" coincides with the release of my band Jack Kilby and the Front Line's debut album, 'Love Is A Song Anyone Can Sing.' The podcast is produced by Tomasian Entertainment. I met TE CEO Tomas Bell in New York City where we became friends, and he generously offered to curate this podcast for me.

In the podcast, I talk with members of my band and guest artists from the album to discuss their personal journeys in music as well as what it was like to work on 'Love Is A Song Anyone Can Sing.'

►Why & how did you start this podcast?

Tomas suggested that I would penetrate another market by having a limited podcast to go along with the release of my album and I agreed. My initial goals were to simply utilize another outlet to promote the album while also giving listeners an inside look at the process of making a record. We began recording the podcast in summer/fall 2018 and released an episode every other week. Fortunately since I do not do the editing, all I had to do was talk!

►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?

TE's rate is very reasonable and well worth the audience I am able to penetrate with a podcast. We release episodes bi-weekly. Because Tomas and I are full time professional musicians, we were able to record during the day.

►What do you gain from podcasting?

I gain an audience and offer them another look at the music. I do believe TE has sponsorships, but that's a process I'm not involved in.

►How does your podcasting process look like?

I call in to TE's Skype line where they are set up to record conversations by phone. Finding the guests was easy, I just asked the band members. I prepared by sending a short run-down of some topics to some of the guests, but it really was more effective and natural when we just talked, since I am close with just about everyone I interviewed.

►How do you market your show?

We promote on the various forms of social media, and I'm not sure of those numbers, TE would have more accurate access to that information.

►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?

Just stay relaxed and be yourself, talk clearly, make sure your phones are on silent!
