►Tell us about you and your podcast

Im Gary Mcdonald, the host and creator of Convicted Conversations. My podcast looks to bring awareness to the injustices that felons face on a daily basis. I would also like to deter the youth from ever going down the road of destruction and to stay out of the prison pipeline system.

►Why & how did you start this podcast?

I picked the podcast because it has reach, and they share it on 9 different platforms from Anchor. My goals are to slow down recidivism and to get felons on the right track. I started my podcast December 26th 2018. The same day i released my 1st episode

►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?

I release an episode every Monday,Wednesday, and Friday. My episodes vary in length, they range from 20 minutes to over an hour. I record my podcast anywhere, anytime after I'm off from work. Convicted Conversations is self funded.

►What do you gain from podcasting?

I do take sponsorship right now from Anchor and Spotify. Once you build your audience, they send you sponsors. The sponsors will come once you're popping. Podcasting benefits me in a number of ways, and it allows me to reach people all over the world.

►How does your podcasting process look like?

I use my phone to podcast because it has great audio, and I don't need to setup equipment everywhere I go. I also use predicitive keys for editing audio. I find guest for my show by riding around, or inboxing interesting people on Facebook. I find out if they have felony convictions etc. I make notes and questions to my guest. My interviews are done in person. Its almost like Drink Champs in a way.

►How do you market your show?

My listeners are friends of mine on Facebook, Instagram and other social sites. I've been on the Breakfast Club several times, and received a number of listeners from 103.5 The Beat.

►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?

Podcasting over the last several months has been a new experience for me and seeing the analytics gives me even more hope that felons will stay out of jail and stop recidivism.
