►Tell us about you and your podcast

Hi there, I'm Peter; a 30-something relatively new podcaster from Scotland in the UK. The podcast is called half hour hoops and is a fan pod about the Glasgow football /soccer team called celtic... Nicknamed the hoops due to the style of jersey. I don't do it alone, my usual co-hosts are Ryan and Stephen both fellow celtic fans.

►Why & how did you start this podcast?

I've always been a fan of podcasts since they pretty much burst on the scene. I prefer to listen to a conversation or people discussing topics I'm a fan of over music. There's quite a few celtic podcasts out there andc the idea of doing one was quite daunting at first but I really do enjoy doing and feel the longer weve been doing it the easier it has become. I don't have any ambition to make money from it I just enjoy providing content for fellow fans and love the feedback we get from it. We started little over 6 months ago and to watch it grow from twenty plus downloads to a few hundred in that time us quote humbling. We started this on a smart phone and now use proper software for recording aff editing so all in all its been a hectic but enjoyable journey.

►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?

We aim to release a new episode once a week with maybe a few specials thru in. Because its my baby lol I drive the whole thing taking notes thru out the week, creating the running order etc. It's not to time consuming as I usually do whilst watching the team play then tidy it up when the wife and child are in bed. It's totally self funded laptop, apps and host but it's not to expensive and shouldn't really put people off especially if there's a few of you looking to share the load.

►What do you gain from podcasting?

We don't have any sponsorship never really thought about to be honest as it's never been an issue. The podcast has definitely made my mind sharper as I'm always looking for content about celtic or stories to cover and thinking about how I can improve the podcast by adding sections the listeners would like. Only recently a listener brought up the podcast to me during a conversation and was shocked to hear I was guy hosting it. Little things like that are cool side of doing it.

►How does your podcasting process look like?

We use a basic editing software for the pod and to be honest I'm still trying to wrap my head round all the intricacies of it all. Currently we don't do guests as its just a fan podcast but eventually we may have fellow fans on and even other podcasters who follow the same team.

►How do you market your show?

Our show is available on all major platforms aff our host is podbean. I've a decent twitter following so that helps along with Facebook, we haven't tried to take to the next level yet regarding marketing it's a slow process and with a full time job and family it'll remain slow for a while lol.

►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?

The best advice I have for any aspiring podcasters is just do it. If the idea is in your head do it. It might seem daunting but once you record add release it's done. Don't worry about your own voice no one I've spoken to likes the sound of their own voice and lastly relax.... Try and speak normal don't worry about recording equipment and the more you record and release the easier it gets.

Some helpful podcast resources are other podcasts, the more you listen to the more ideas or tricks you pick up. You can find me and my podcast in any search engine or twitter just search half hour hoops podcast... I respond to all comments good or bad but good is better.
