►Tell us about you and your podcast

My name is Cam March and I am one of the hosts and producers for the MMA etc. Podcast. I am a life long fan of Mixed Martial Arts, and I've trained in taekwondo, muay thai kickboxing, and Brazilian jiu jitsu. Our listeners are made up primarily of other like minded mma fans. This podcast is basically just a few friends sitting around and hanging out while watching live UFC fights. We also end up talking about video games, pop culture, and everything else going on in the world (hence the "etc." in our show title).

►Why & how did you start this podcast?

This show was inspired by Joe Rogan's 'Fight Companion' podcast.. where Joe Rogan and his friends sit around and watch live UFC events, and just have a great time hanging out. Our group of friends would get together on big fight nights anyway, and one night we all thought, "we should do a show similar to Fight Companion". With how busy life is, this is just a fun excuse to get together with the boys and have some drinks. We launched in May of 2018 and it's been a crazy learning experience so far! I am enjoying every second of it.

►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?

We try to release an episode once a month. It is often difficult that all of our schedules line up perfectly, though! I've worked a lot of overtime hours at work to fund this project and get it launched. I've always been passionate about social networking and online content creation. I started out in my teens by making Call of Duty videos for YouTube. For this show, we have spent a lot of hard earned cash on artwork, hosting, video & audio equipment, marketing, the list goes on.. I don't want to even think about the dollar amount. We thought if we were going to produce a show like this, it better be high quality. We didn't want to produce something that us ourselves wouldn't want to listen to!

►What do you gain from podcasting?

We don't have any sponsorship yet, we don't make any revenue either. We didn't get into it for the money. We are strictly doing this podcast for the fun of it. We take it seriously enough of course, but at the end of the day we want the intended purpose of this show to always remain the same. We want to share our ideas on the sport & have a fun platform to do so! A podcast is an incredible way to put it out to the world.

►How does your podcasting process look like?

Step 1: Purchase beer
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit

►How do you market your show?

We market the show through our social media accounts, run Facebook and Instagram ads mainly.. I like to use Fiverr and pay freelance artists to have graphics and advertisement material created for the show.

►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?

Never let the hateful comments deter you or offset your passion for what you are doing. Put the time in, do research, spend the money, and have the right motives in place for what you are doing. You will then be successful! Network with other podcasters who have a similar audience. Be relentless in your pursuit!

►Where can we learn more about you & your podcasts?
