►Tell us about you and your podcast

Hi guys, I’m Jordan, and I run the podcast “Tasteful Moustache”. The main show is interviewing content creators, promoting their stuff, and having a bit of a laugh. The segment I shall be implementing next week is "Filmmaker Friday" where I interview filmmakers who can share their stories and help aspiring filmmakers with their work. The core demo is youth and indie filmmakers 👍.

►Why & how did you start this podcast?

Personally, I love to inform people and entertain. I’ve been a fan of podcasts and have a passion for radio work, presenting, and movies; this is why I started. It didn’t take too long to get started, I already had the equipment. However it took a while for me to get regular and do it weekly, and soon it’ll be twice a week (Monday and Friday). My aim is to entertain and motivate, and if I can earn money off what I love, that’s an added bonus.

►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?

When having a day job I used to record Sunday evenings, but since leaving I’ve had the opportunity to dive deep into personal branding and the podcast. I spend about £30 a month on advertising, hosting, the whole shabang. All out of my own pocket.

►What do you gain from podcasting?

I would be open to sponsorship, however I don’t have the audience yet, therefore the revenue is 0. Podcasting is a way for me to relax, do what I love, and meet awesome people who achieve awesome things.

►How does your podcasting process look like?

I use podbean, the software is audacity, and I use a Samson meteor microphone. I find my guests by taking to Instagram, twitter and other platforms finding and sending possible guests DM’s. When getting prepared for a show I have notes, just to keep me on track, and I just go for it. In advance I would’ve cleared the notes with the guest, and come up with a funny game tailored to the guest. I interview my guests using Skype and live stream it to twitch and YouTube, then edit the audio after and upload it to podbean and iTunes.

►How do you market your show?

I market my show on twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I get most listeners on iTunes, but that’s about it. The platform I’ve always found most useful is Instagram.

►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?

Well, I’m still pretty new to this, but I would suggest just going for it. Too many people ponder, and it never gets done. Don’t be that person.

Keep it consistent, and as far as books go, gotta recommend Gary Vaynerchuck’s “Crushing it!”.
