►Tell us about you and your podcast

Hello, I'm Josh ;)

Big surprise there. Well, I never thought that I would be here or doing this. Original I just wanted to talk with my good friend Thayne. You see, we used to work together and became close friends then (like in any kids movie from the 80's) he had to move away and we didn't want to give up on being friends, so we started talking on the phone about once or twice a week.

He is without a doubt the most aggravating, annoying person anyone could possible try and talk to. Which meant I was laughing the whole time we were on the phone.

During one of our calls I mentioned, offhandedly "man if other people could listen in on our calls they'd laugh their butts off, and maybe hate you as much as I do" or something like that.

Thayne said "Yeah we should just make a Podcast of it".

And that's all it took. I was off and running. Now 8 months later we have something like 50 episodes and we just started our third season.

►Why & how did you start this podcast?

see Q1... oops.

►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?

The Timing: I try to release 2 episodes a week and that goes on for about 3 months. Then I take a one month break. The time I put in is after work either talking to Thayne or pulling clips together.

There is NO funding! all out of pocket for me. And I will never, ever sellout to "the man" no matter how much money He is offering.
hmm... what was that? did you say six figures? oh, well we should talk then.

I find the time, despite my day job, by mostly pissing off my girlfriend.

►What do you gain from podcasting?

Joy! so much joy and happiness to know that if there is even one persons that I can bring a smile too or get to laugh.

I've not yet heard from any of my listeners, well one emailed the show but they didn't mention any smiles or laughs, just that they agreed with Thayne. That listener was clearly delusional.

►How does your podcasting process look like?

OK... This is the good stuff, the secret sauce. I like to think of it as the trick to our extraordinary success, that being success we've yet to achieve.

Nothing! To barrow a phrase I once heard on TV "we are a show about nothing! Everybody is doing shows about something are show is about nothing."

and that does not just go for Content, format and equipment. But also Effort and Quality. The more ramshackled, chaotic and dysfunctional we sound the better. Think of our show as an acquired taste like IPA (which everyone knows is the worst beer but they all pretend to like it until they ruin their taste buds) its a auditor train wreck that you can't seem to stop listening to.

I find guest by calling people I know or on reddit.

I don't prepare. The whole show is over the phone.

►How do you market your show?

I have stickers. would you like one?

send all sticker request to [email protected]

►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?

Use Anchor.fm to produce, host and post your podcast.
