►Tell us about you and your podcast
Derek Loflin and Nathan Ruf. The name of our podcast is Mixed Martial Idiots, it's a podcast about MMA and other combat sports with other topics mixed in, with comedy being the forefront of the podcast. Our listeners are anyone who wants to listen and have a laugh.
►Why & how did you start this podcast?
We both listen to podcast and believe this is the outlet that we can share and reach the people that want to listen. We needed a creative outlet that we could have fun doing. Our main motivation is just to have a good time and a laugh together and if that brings entertainment to other then that makes it that much better. It took us a couple weeks or recording to decide we wanted to create a podacast.
►How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We try to release a podcast at least once a week, and we can usually get a podcast produced in a couple days because we do youtube videos with it also. Making time to do our podcast is all about coordination, we don't live in the same area so we have to plan out our podcast time. We do fund our own podcast also.
►What do you gain from podcasting?
As of right now we have no sponsorship or funding.
►How does your podcasting process look like?
Preparing for a podcast is just about writing notes and thoughts down throughout the week. We haven't gotten to the point yet where we have the ability to interview guest.
►How do you market your show?
We have our podcast on iTunes, Google, RadioPublic, Spotify, Youtube, and Pocket Cast. We post on Twitter all the time also. We use Pinecast for listener analytics.
►What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
We are new podcasters at the moment and just learning what we can all the time. Our goal is to just progress everyday to make a better listening experience. A lot of reading and researching on the internet.
