► Tell us about you and your podcast
Ryan DeFaber, husband and father to two amazing young boys. A former Collegiate Baseball player who works in Corporate America while continuing along his fitness journey.
Two Cents Worth where I talk about Sports, Fitness, and Life, my life, my fitness journey, and my experiences in Sports.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I enjoy listening to Podcasts so I reached out to a few and asked them if I should start one and how to start a Podcast and any advice they would give me. I listen to a wide array of Podcasts across multiple topics.
To get my thoughts out to those who are interested, and get guests on to tell their stories that I found interesting.
October 2018, I recorded my first episode and released it the same day.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I release an Episode a week. It takes a few hours to record, edit, and upload each episode.
I carve off time each week after work to record. My wife is very supportive and makes sure the kids don't interrupt when I am recording.
A few hours a week, as I make sure to make a conscience effort to post on Social Media and be creative in getting it noticed outside of my followers.
Yes I paid for all of the equipment, hosting site fee, etc. for my Podcast.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
I currently do not have any sponsors but I am open to it.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use Audacity to do all of my editing for my Podcast. I used Fivver for my Cover Art as well as my intro song.
I ask my friends and family if they are interested, as well as those who I follow on Social Media that I might not know but I find interesting. In recent episodes I have just been doing it by myself as with work and family I havent had the time to track down guests and schedule.
I come up with multiple topics that I want to cover over the next few weeks, from there I start creating the talking points and organization of how the Episode will flow.
All of my guests were interviewed in person.
► How do you market your show?
My Podcast is available on all of the major Podcasting platforms. I also post each episode on my Social Media so people know when they are available. My host site Podbean provides me with a breakdown of my listener acquisition constantly.
I find Social Media the most useful as my followers can see it, they can share my posts and get my podcast out to a wider audience, and the use of Hashtags and Tagging accounts are extremely helpful on getting it out to more people.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I would say if you are thinking of starting a Podcast to go for it. You really don't need a lot if not any equipment to start as you can now record from your phone if you don't plan on editing the Podcast. All depending on what you want out of your Podcast there are always people out there that want to and will listen to what you say. You may not be the next Joe Rogan, but its a great creative outlet if that is what you are looking for.
Lewis Howes has great insight on starting and growing your Podcasts, reach out to some Podcasters who you listen to and ask if they have any advice, watch videos on Youtube on how to start and create a Podcast.
