Act Too, Scene one, A room in Polonius's house. Enter Polonius,

00:00:24.960 --> 00:00:26.359
and Rinaldo.
6
00:00:26.800 --> 00:00:29.280
Give him this money of these needs.
7
00:00:29.519 --> 00:00:32.640
Rinaldo, I will, Malond.
8
00:00:32.799 --> 00:00:37.520
You shall do marvelous, wisely good Rinaldo before you visit him,
9
00:00:37.679 --> 00:00:40.359
to make inquire of his behavior.
10
00:00:41.439 --> 00:00:43.200
Melond I didn'tend it.
11
00:00:44.280 --> 00:00:51.000
Mary Well said, very well, said look, your sa inquire
12
00:00:51.039 --> 00:00:55.560
be first what Danskers are in Paris, and how and who,
13
00:00:56.399 --> 00:01:01.119
what means, and where they keep, what company, at what expense?
14
00:01:01.759 --> 00:01:05.959
And findee by this encompassment and thrift to question that
15
00:01:06.040 --> 00:01:09.599
they do know my son. Come you more nearer than
16
00:01:09.640 --> 00:01:14.040
your particular demands will touch it. Take you as twere
17
00:01:14.560 --> 00:01:18.560
some distant knowledge of him, as thus I know his
18
00:01:18.680 --> 00:01:22.640
father and his friends and in part him. Do you
19
00:01:22.760 --> 00:01:28.000
mark this Rinaldo, I very well, my lord, and in
20
00:01:28.239 --> 00:01:33.840
part him. But you must say not well. But if
21
00:01:33.879 --> 00:01:38.319
t be he, I mean he's very wild, addicted so
22
00:01:38.560 --> 00:01:42.439
and so and there put on him what forgeries you
23
00:01:42.560 --> 00:01:47.040
please marry none so rank is me dishonor him take
24
00:01:47.159 --> 00:01:53.159
heed of that? But as such wanton, wild, unusual lips,
25
00:01:53.439 --> 00:01:57.760
as our companions noted, and most known to youth and liberty,
26
00:01:58.599 --> 00:02:06.840
as I mean, my lord, a or drinking, a fencing, swearing, quarreling, drabbing.
27
00:02:07.239 --> 00:02:11.039
You may go so far the lord is that what
28
00:02:11.240 --> 00:02:11.960
is owner him?
29
00:02:12.520 --> 00:02:16.159
Faith? No, as you may seize it in the charge,
30
00:02:16.599 --> 00:02:19.520
you must not put another scandal on him that he
31
00:02:19.680 --> 00:02:25.000
is open to incontinency. That's not my meaning. But breathe
32
00:02:25.000 --> 00:02:28.680
his faults so quaintly that they may seem the taints
33
00:02:28.719 --> 00:02:32.879
of liberty, the flash and outbreak of a fiery mind,
34
00:02:33.439 --> 00:02:37.520
a savageness in the unreclaimed blood of general assault.
35
00:02:38.280 --> 00:02:39.719
That's my good lord.
36
00:02:40.400 --> 00:02:41.960
Wherefore should you do this?
37
00:02:43.080 --> 00:02:43.800
I'm the lord.
38
00:02:44.360 --> 00:02:49.039
I would know that, Mary sir, here's my drift, and
39
00:02:49.199 --> 00:02:52.319
I believe it is a fetch of wit. You laying

40
00:02:52.439 --> 00:02:56.240
the slight salis on my son, a swear, a thing
41
00:02:56.439 --> 00:03:01.159
little soiled in the working mark you your party in
42
00:03:01.319 --> 00:03:05.439
converse him, you would sound have you ever seen in
43
00:03:05.520 --> 00:03:10.639
the prenominant crimes the youth? You breathe of guilty? He assured,
44
00:03:11.120 --> 00:03:16.280
He closes with you in his consequence good sir or sir,
45
00:03:16.840 --> 00:03:22.680
or friend or gentleman, according to the phrase or the
46
00:03:22.680 --> 00:03:24.000
addition of man.
47
00:03:23.879 --> 00:03:26.479
And country, very good lord.
48
00:03:27.000 --> 00:03:32.280
And then sir does he this? He does? What was
49
00:03:32.280 --> 00:03:35.840
I about to say? By the mass I was about
50
00:03:35.879 --> 00:03:38.479
to say something? Where did I leave?
51
00:03:39.400 --> 00:03:44.280
It closes in the consequence A friends, sir and gentlemen.
52
00:03:44.400 --> 00:03:50.039
At closes, in the consequence I marry he closes. Thus
53
00:03:50.840 --> 00:03:54.639
I know the gentleman. I saw him yesterday or till
54
00:03:54.719 --> 00:03:59.439
the day, or then, or then with such or such,
55
00:04:00.120 --> 00:04:04.280
And as you say, there was a gaming there overtook
56
00:04:04.400 --> 00:04:09.599
in rouse. Therefore the out at tennis, or perchance I
57
00:04:09.639 --> 00:04:14.879
saw him enter such a house of sail, videlicet, a brothel,
58
00:04:15.520 --> 00:04:20.160
or say forth see you now, your bit of falsehood
59
00:04:20.199 --> 00:04:24.279
takes this carp of truth. And thus do we of
60
00:04:24.519 --> 00:04:30.040
wisdom and of reach, with windlesses and essays of buyers,
61
00:04:30.439 --> 00:04:36.279
by indirections, find directions out. So by my former lecture
62
00:04:36.439 --> 00:04:40.439
and advice, shall you, my son, you have me?
63
00:04:41.120 --> 00:04:42.800
Have you not, my lord?
64
00:04:43.079 --> 00:04:47.639
I have God be with you? Fare you well, good,
65
00:04:47.680 --> 00:04:52.959
my lord, observe his inclination in yourself, I shall, my lord,
66
00:04:53.680 --> 00:04:58.079
and let him ply his music well farewell.
67
00:04:59.160 --> 00:05:03.480
Exit enter Ophelia.
68
00:05:02.959 --> 00:05:07.199
Oh, no, Ophelia. What's the matter, o, my.
69
00:05:07.279 --> 00:05:11.720
Lord my lord? I have been so affrighted with what
70
00:05:12.360 --> 00:05:16.000
he the name of God, my lord, as I was
71
00:05:16.040 --> 00:05:20.120
sewing in my closet, Lord Hamlet, with his doublet all umbraced,
72
00:05:20.519 --> 00:05:24.319
no hat upon his head, his stockings fowled ungartered and
73
00:05:24.399 --> 00:05:28.040
down give to his ankle, pale as his shirt, his
74
00:05:28.120 --> 00:05:31.079
knees knocking each other, and with a look so piteous
75
00:05:31.120 --> 00:05:33.720
in purport, as if he had been loosed out of
76
00:05:33.800 --> 00:05:36.959
hell to speak of horrors, he comes.
77
00:05:36.720 --> 00:05:41.319
Before me mad for thy love, my.
78
00:05:41.360 --> 00:05:44.879
Lord, I do not know, but truly I do fear it.
79

00:05:45.560 --> 00:05:47.560
What should he?
80
00:05:47.560 --> 00:05:49.839
He took me by the wrist and held me hard.
81
00:05:50.439 --> 00:05:52.519
Then goes he to the length of all his arm,
82
00:05:52.959 --> 00:05:55.959
and with his other hand thus o'er his brow, he
83
00:05:56.079 --> 00:05:59.240
falls to such perusal of my face as he would
84
00:05:59.319 --> 00:06:03.920
draw it. Long stayed he so at last a little
85
00:06:03.959 --> 00:06:07.160
shaking of mine arm, and thrice his head, thus waving
86
00:06:07.240 --> 00:06:10.240
up and down, he raised a sigh so piteous and
87
00:06:10.399 --> 00:06:13.600
profound as it did seem to shatter all his bulk
88
00:06:13.639 --> 00:06:17.199
and int his being that done, he lets me go,
89
00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:21.959
and with his head over his shoulder turned, he seemed
90
00:06:21.959 --> 00:06:24.759
to find his way without his eyes. For out o
91
00:06:24.839 --> 00:06:28.480
doors he went without their helps, and to the last
92
00:06:29.199 --> 00:06:30.360
bended their light on me.
93
00:06:31.079 --> 00:06:35.040
Come go with me, I will go seek the king.
94
00:06:36.079 --> 00:06:40.160
This is the very ecstasy of love, whose violent property
95
00:06:40.399 --> 00:06:44.759
for does itself and leads the will to desperate undertakings,
96
00:06:45.079 --> 00:06:48.439
as oft as any passion under heaven that does afflict
97
00:06:48.439 --> 00:06:54.040
now natures. I am sorry, what have you given him?
98
00:06:54.079 --> 00:06:55.759
Any hard words of late?
99
00:06:56.680 --> 00:07:00.360
No, my good lord, But as you did command, I
100
00:07:00.439 --> 00:07:03.240
did repel his fetters and denied his access to me,
101
00:07:04.199 --> 00:07:04.800
that has.
102
00:07:04.800 --> 00:07:09.079
Made him mad. I am sorry that, with better heed
103
00:07:09.160 --> 00:07:12.600
and judgment I had not quoted him. I feared he
104
00:07:12.680 --> 00:07:18.560
did but trifle and meant direct thee. But beshrew my jealousy.
105
00:07:19.360 --> 00:07:22.399
By Heaven, it is as proper to our age to
106
00:07:22.560 --> 00:07:26.319
cast yond ourselves in our opinions, as it is common
107
00:07:26.439 --> 00:07:31.240
for the younger sort to lack discretion. Come go we
108
00:07:31.360 --> 00:07:35.439
to the king. This must be known, which, being kept close,
109
00:07:35.920 --> 00:07:39.959
might move more grief to hide than hate to utter love.
110
00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:47.920
Exellant scene too, a room in the castle, Enter King Claudius,
111
00:07:48.279 --> 00:07:53.519
Queen Gertrude, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, and attendants.
112
00:07:54.560 --> 00:07:59.639
Welcome, dear Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Moreover, that we much did
113
00:07:59.680 --> 00:08:01.879
long to see you. The need we have to use
114
00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:06.480
you did provoke our hasty sending something. Have you heard
115
00:08:06.519 --> 00:08:12.279
of Hamlet's transformation, so call it sith nor the exterior
116
00:08:12.319 --> 00:08:15.759
nor the inward man resembles that it was what it
117
00:08:15.839 --> 00:08:18.680
should be, more than his father's death, that thus hath
118
00:08:18.720 --> 00:08:21.399
put him so much from the understanding of himself I
119
00:08:21.480 --> 00:08:25.680
cannot dream of. I entreat you both, that, being of
120
00:08:25.759 --> 00:08:28.120
so young days brought up with him, and Syth so
121
00:08:28.360 --> 00:08:32.039
neighbored to his youth, and haveavior that you vouchsafe your
122
00:08:32.159 --> 00:08:35.759
rest here in our court some little time, so by
123
00:08:35.840 --> 00:08:39.000
your companies to draw him on to pleasures, and to
124
00:08:39.120 --> 00:08:42.200
gather so much as from occasion you may glean, whether
125
00:08:42.279 --> 00:08:46.759
aught to us unknown afflicts him. Thus that opened lies
126
00:08:46.840 --> 00:08:47.840
within our remedy.
127
00:08:48.519 --> 00:08:52.759
Good gentleman, he hath much talked of you, and sure
128
00:08:52.759 --> 00:08:55.240
I am two men there are not living to whom
129
00:08:55.279 --> 00:08:59.039
anymore adheares. If it will please you to show us
130
00:08:59.200 --> 00:09:02.120
so much gentle try and good will as to expend
131
00:09:02.159 --> 00:09:05.320
your time with us awhile for the supply and profit
132
00:09:05.399 --> 00:09:10.720
of our hope your visitation shall receive such thanks as
133
00:09:10.799 --> 00:09:12.480
fits a king's remembrance.
134
00:09:13.519 --> 00:09:16.559
Both your majesties might, by the sovereign power you have
135
00:09:16.639 --> 00:09:19.399
of us, put your dread pleasures more into command than
136
00:09:19.440 --> 00:09:20.080
to entreaty.
137
00:09:20.639 --> 00:09:24.440
But we both obey and here give up ourselves in
138
00:09:24.480 --> 00:09:27.639
the full bent to lay our service freely at your
139
00:09:27.679 --> 00:09:29.639
feet to be commanded.
140
00:09:30.440 --> 00:09:33.200
Thanks Rosenkrantz, and Gentle Guildenstern.
141
00:09:34.240 --> 00:09:40.000
Thanks Guildenstern, and Gentle Rosenkrantz, and I beseech you instantly
142
00:09:40.080 --> 00:09:44.000
to visit my too much changed son. Go some of
143
00:09:44.039 --> 00:09:47.039
you and bring these gentlemen where Hamlet is.
144
00:09:47.759 --> 00:09:52.320
Heavens make our presence and our practices pleasant and helpful
145
00:09:52.399 --> 00:09:52.799
to him.
146
00:09:53.919 --> 00:10:02.759
I amen, Excellent Rosenkrantz, Guildenstern, and so attendants, enter Polonius.
147
00:10:03.399 --> 00:10:08.799
The ambassadors from Norway, my good Lord, are joyfully returned.
148
00:10:09.759 --> 00:10:13.679
Thou still hast been the father of good news, Have I.
149
00:10:14.080 --> 00:10:19.120
My Lord, as sure by good lieeds, I hold thy
150
00:10:19.279 --> 00:10:23.480
duty as I hold thy soul, both to my God
151
00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:28.679
and my gracious King. And I do think or else.
152
00:10:28.840 --> 00:10:33.200
The breed of man haunts not the trail of policies,
153
00:10:33.360 --> 00:10:36.759
as sure as it hath used to do that. I
154
00:10:36.799 --> 00:10:41.120
have found the very cause of Hamlet's lunus hair.
155
00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:45.200
Oh, speak of that that do I long to hear?
156
00:10:46.080 --> 00:10:50.559
Give first admittance to the ambassadors mine you shall be
157
00:10:50.639 --> 00:10:54.480
the fruit to that great feast thyself.
158
00:10:54.559 --> 00:10:58.240
Do grace to the man to bring them in. Exit Polonius,
159
00:10:58.799 --> 00:11:01.639
he tells me, my dear Gertrudieth found the head and
160
00:11:01.799 --> 00:11:03.960
source of all your son's distemper.
161
00:11:04.559 --> 00:11:07.000
I doubt it is no other but the main his
162
00:11:07.200 --> 00:11:10.159
father's death, and ah O hasty marriage.
163
00:11:10.639 --> 00:11:11.919
Well we shall sift him.
164
00:11:12.519 --> 00:11:16.799
Re enter Polonius with Voltemond and Cornelius.
165
00:11:17.159 --> 00:11:22.240
Welcome, my good friends. Say Voltemond want from our brother Norway.
166
00:11:22.399 --> 00:11:26.799
Most fair return of greetings and desires upon our First,
167
00:11:27.039 --> 00:11:30.440
he set out to suppress his nephew's levies, which to
168
00:11:30.519 --> 00:11:34.039
him appeared to be a preparation against the Polock. But
169
00:11:34.679 --> 00:11:38.120
beduked into he truly found it was against your highness.
170
00:11:38.639 --> 00:11:42.360
Where is grieved that so a sickness, age and impodence
171
00:11:42.559 --> 00:11:47.159
was falsely born in hand, sends oud'ress on Fortembros, which
172
00:11:47.200 --> 00:11:51.879
he in brief obeys, receives rebuke from Norway, and in
173
00:11:52.000 --> 00:11:55.120
fine makes vow before his uncle never more to give
174
00:11:55.159 --> 00:11:59.639
the essay of arms against your majesty, whereon Old Norway,
175
00:12:00.080 --> 00:12:04.320
overcome with joy, gives him three thousand crowns an annual fee,
176
00:12:04.639 --> 00:12:08.360
and his commission to employ those soldiers so levied as
177
00:12:08.399 --> 00:12:12.720
before against the Polac, with an entreaty. Herein further showing
178
00:12:13.200 --> 00:12:15.720
giving a paper that it might please you to give
179
00:12:15.799 --> 00:12:19.840
quiet pass through your dominions for this enterprise on such
180
00:12:19.879 --> 00:12:23.200
regard of safety and allowance as therein are set down.
181
00:12:23.759 --> 00:12:26.600
It likes us well, and at our more considered time,
182
00:12:26.639 --> 00:12:30.360
we'll read answer and think upon this business. Meantime, we
183
00:12:30.480 --> 00:12:33.080
thank you. If we are well to labor, go to
184
00:12:33.120 --> 00:12:35.759
your arrest. At night we'll feast together.
185
00:12:36.480 --> 00:12:40.960
Most welcome home, excellent Voltemont and Cornelius.
186
00:12:41.720 --> 00:12:46.919
This business is well ended, my liege and madam. To
187
00:12:47.200 --> 00:12:53.840
expostulate what majesty should be, What duty is? Why day's day, night,
188
00:12:54.080 --> 00:12:58.320
night and time? Is time worth nothing but to waste
189
00:12:58.399 --> 00:13:03.320
a night, day and time. Therefore, since brevity is the
190
00:13:03.399 --> 00:13:08.080
soul of wit, and he lisners the limbs and outward flourishes,
191
00:13:08.960 --> 00:13:15.600
I will be brief. Your noble son is mad mad
192
00:13:15.600 --> 00:13:20.399
call I it for to define through madness what is
193
00:13:20.720 --> 00:13:25.039
but to be nothing else but mad. But let that go.
194
00:13:26.279 --> 00:13:30.120
More matter with less art, Madam.
195
00:13:29.960 --> 00:13:33.679
I swear I use no art at all. That he
196
00:13:33.799 --> 00:13:39.240
is mad tis true, tis true, tis pity and pity
197
00:13:39.360 --> 00:13:44.879
tis tis true, a foolish figure. But farewell it, for
198
00:13:45.039 --> 00:13:50.000
I will use no art. Mad Let us grant him then,
199
00:13:51.399 --> 00:13:54.840
and now remains, that we find out the cause of
200
00:13:54.919 --> 00:13:59.919
this effect, or rather say the cause of this defect,
201
00:14:00.879 --> 00:14:06.399
For this effect defective comes by cause. Thus it remains,
202
00:14:06.679 --> 00:14:11.440
and the remainder thus per penned. I have a daughter
203
00:14:12.240 --> 00:14:15.960
have why she is mine, who, in her duty and
204
00:14:16.080 --> 00:14:21.919
obedience mark hath given me this. Now gather and surmise.
205
00:14:22.879 --> 00:14:28.720
Reads to the celestial and my soul's idle, the most beautified, Ophelia.
206
00:14:29.960 --> 00:14:34.919
That's an ill phrase, a vile phrase. Beautified is a
207
00:14:35.000 --> 00:14:41.440
vile phrase. But you shall hear. Thus reads in her
208
00:14:41.639 --> 00:14:45.320
excellent white bosom, theseer et cetera.
209
00:14:46.279 --> 00:14:48.039
Came this from Hamlet to her.
210
00:14:48.600 --> 00:14:52.240
Good Madam, stay awhile I will be faithful.
211
00:14:53.159 --> 00:14:53.600
Reads.
212
00:14:54.480 --> 00:14:58.240
Doubt thou the star's a fire, doubt that the sun
213
00:14:58.440 --> 00:15:03.279
doth move truth to be a liar, But never doubt.
214
00:15:03.559 --> 00:15:07.960
I love, oh dear Feilia. I am ill at these
215
00:15:08.039 --> 00:15:12.519
numbers I have not art to reckon my groans, but
216
00:15:12.639 --> 00:15:16.840
that I love thee best o most best. Believe it.
217
00:15:17.759 --> 00:15:24.240
Adieu thine evermore, most dear lady, whilst this machine is
218
00:15:24.279 --> 00:15:30.519
to him, hamlet this in obedience. Hath my daughter shown me?
219
00:15:31.320 --> 00:15:36.159
And more above, hath his solicitings as they fell out,
220
00:15:36.200 --> 00:15:41.279
by time, by means and place, all given to mine ear?
221
00:15:42.240 --> 00:15:44.480
But how hath she received his love?
222
00:15:45.480 --> 00:15:48.559
What do you think of me as.
223
00:15:48.240 --> 00:15:50.320
Of a man faithful and honorable?
224
00:15:51.200 --> 00:15:55.600
I would fain prove, sir. But what might you think
225
00:15:55.919 --> 00:15:59.000
when I had seen this hot love on the wing
226
00:15:59.759 --> 00:16:03.480
as I perceived it? I must tell you that before
227
00:16:03.480 --> 00:16:08.440
my daughter told me, what might you, or my dear majesty,
228
00:16:08.679 --> 00:16:12.240
your queen heir, think, if I had play'd the desk
229
00:16:12.519 --> 00:16:16.600
or table book, or given my heart a winking mute
230
00:16:16.720 --> 00:16:20.559
and dumb, or look'd upon his love with idle sight?
231
00:16:21.519 --> 00:16:22.840
What might you think?
232
00:16:23.879 --> 00:16:23.919
No?
233
00:16:24.600 --> 00:16:28.360
I went round to work, and my young mistress, thus
234
00:16:28.399 --> 00:16:33.600
I did bespeak, Lord hablet is a prince out of
235
00:16:33.720 --> 00:16:38.799
thy star. This must not be. And then I precepts
236
00:16:39.039 --> 00:16:42.440
gave her that she should lock herself from his resort
237
00:16:43.039 --> 00:16:48.519
amid no messengers, received no tokens, which done. She took
238
00:16:48.559 --> 00:16:53.759
the fruits of my advice, and he repulsed a short
239
00:16:54.000 --> 00:16:58.879
tale to make fell into his sadness, then into a fast,
240
00:16:59.440 --> 00:17:04.759
thence to watch, thence into a weakness thanks to a lightness,
241
00:17:05.200 --> 00:17:10.000
and by this declension into the madness, wherein now he raves,
242
00:17:10.799 --> 00:17:12.000
and all we mourn.
243
00:17:12.119 --> 00:17:14.160
For do you think 'tis this?
244
00:17:14.960 --> 00:17:17.079
It may be very likely.
245
00:17:17.599 --> 00:17:21.880
Had there been such a time, I'd fain know that
246
00:17:21.880 --> 00:17:27.720
that I have positively said, tis sir, when it proved otherwise.
247
00:17:28.079 --> 00:17:32.400
Not that I know, pointing to his head and shoulder.
248
00:17:32.559 --> 00:17:37.640
Take this from this if this be otherwise, if circumstances
249
00:17:37.759 --> 00:17:41.599
lead me, I will find where truth is hid, though
250
00:17:41.599 --> 00:17:44.000
it were hid indeed within the center.
251
00:17:44.799 --> 00:17:46.599
How may we try it further?
252
00:17:47.200 --> 00:17:52.039
You know sometimes he walks four hours together here in the.
253
00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:55.880
Lobby, so he does. Indeed, at such.
254
00:17:55.599 --> 00:17:59.440
A time I'll loose my daughter to him. Be you
255
00:17:59.599 --> 00:18:04.519
an eye behind an arras, then mark the encounter if
256
00:18:04.519 --> 00:18:07.440
he love her not, and be not from his reason
257
00:18:07.599 --> 00:18:12.000
for thereon, let me be no assistant for estate, but
258
00:18:12.359 --> 00:18:14.799
keep a farm and Carter's.
259
00:18:15.240 --> 00:18:18.480
We will try it, but look, we're sadly.
260
00:18:18.559 --> 00:18:21.119
The poor wretch comes reading away.
261
00:18:21.720 --> 00:18:26.000
I do beseech you both away. I'll board him presently.
262
00:18:26.880 --> 00:18:34.160
Excellent King Claudius, Queen Gertrude and attendants enter Hamlet, reading.
263
00:18:34.359 --> 00:18:39.759
Ooh you believe, Oh, does my good lord halet.
264
00:18:39.599 --> 00:18:41.160
Well got a mercy?
265
00:18:41.720 --> 00:18:42.599
Do you know me?
266
00:18:42.759 --> 00:18:46.279
My lord excellent? Well, you are a fishmonger?
267
00:18:47.359 --> 00:18:48.640
Not I, my lord?
268
00:18:49.400 --> 00:18:50.880
Then I would you were so honest?
269
00:18:50.920 --> 00:18:54.599
A man honest, my lord, I sir.
270
00:18:54.720 --> 00:18:56.839
To be honest as this world goes, is to be
271
00:18:56.920 --> 00:18:58.799
one man picked out of ten thousand.
272
00:18:59.480 --> 00:19:01.519
That's very true, my lord.
273
00:19:02.359 --> 00:19:04.680
For if the sun breed maggots and a dead dog
274
00:19:04.839 --> 00:19:08.599
being a good kissing carrion. Have you a daughter?
275
00:19:09.240 --> 00:19:11.759
I have, my Lord, let her.
276
00:19:11.680 --> 00:19:15.319
Not walk in the sun. Conception is a blessing, but
277
00:19:15.440 --> 00:19:17.240
not as your daughter may conceive.
278
00:19:17.640 --> 00:19:21.720
Friend, look to it aside, I'll see you by that
279
00:19:22.279 --> 00:19:25.720
still harpy on my daughter. Yet he knew me, not
280
00:19:25.960 --> 00:19:30.480
at first? He said I was a fisionmonger. He is
281
00:19:30.920 --> 00:19:36.279
far gone, far gone, and truly in my youth I
282
00:19:36.359 --> 00:19:41.640
suffered much extremity for love very near this. I'll speak
283
00:19:41.680 --> 00:19:45.200
to him again. What do you read, my lord?
284
00:19:46.000 --> 00:19:46.799
Words?
285
00:19:47.119 --> 00:19:47.599
Words?
286
00:19:47.839 --> 00:19:48.359
Words?
287
00:19:49.000 --> 00:19:50.799
What is the matter, my lord?
288
00:19:51.279 --> 00:19:53.079
Between who I mean?
289
00:19:53.599 --> 00:19:55.799
The matter that you read? My lord?
290
00:19:56.599 --> 00:20:00.319
Slanders, sir for the satirical rogue says here that old
291
00:20:00.359 --> 00:20:03.880
men have gray beards, that their faces are wrinkled, their
292
00:20:03.960 --> 00:20:07.920
eyes purging thick amber and plum tree gum, and that
293
00:20:07.960 --> 00:20:11.039
they have a plentiful lack of wit, together with most
294
00:20:11.079 --> 00:20:15.359
weak hands, All which, Sir, though I most powerfully and
295
00:20:15.480 --> 00:20:18.640
potently believe, yet I hold it not honesty to have
296
00:20:18.680 --> 00:20:21.720
it thus set down for yourself, Sir, should be as
297
00:20:21.799 --> 00:20:24.440
old as I am, if like a crab, you.
298
00:20:24.400 --> 00:20:29.079
Could go backward aside, though this be madness, yet there
299
00:20:29.160 --> 00:20:31.880
is method in will you walk.
300
00:20:31.720 --> 00:20:35.039
Out of the air, my lord, into my grave?
301
00:20:35.720 --> 00:20:40.799
Indeed, that is out of the air aside, how pregnant,
302
00:20:40.839 --> 00:20:45.559
Sometimes his replies are happiness that often madness hits, on
303
00:20:45.920 --> 00:20:50.319
which reason and sanity could not so prosperously be delivered of.
304
00:20:51.240 --> 00:20:54.480
I will leave him and suddenly contrive the means of
305
00:20:54.559 --> 00:21:00.200
meeting between him and my daughter. My honorable lord, I
306
00:21:00.240 --> 00:21:03.519
wilmost humbly take my leave of you.
307
00:21:03.519 --> 00:21:06.200
You cannot, sir, take from me anything that I will
308
00:21:06.240 --> 00:21:13.400
more willingly part withal except my life. Accept my life,
309
00:21:13.599 --> 00:21:14.519
Accept my life.
310
00:21:15.240 --> 00:21:16.960
Fare you well, my lord.
311
00:21:17.920 --> 00:21:20.079
These tedious old fools.
312
00:21:20.319 --> 00:21:24.200
Enter Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern, you go to shake.
313
00:21:24.039 --> 00:21:26.680
The lord Hamlet there he is.
314
00:21:27.400 --> 00:21:31.200
God save you, sir, Exit Polonius.
315
00:21:30.720 --> 00:21:33.480
My honored lord, my most dear.
316
00:21:33.440 --> 00:21:39.119
Lord, my excellent good friends, How dost thou Guildenstern, rosen Krantz,
317
00:21:39.160 --> 00:21:41.680
good lads? How do ye both, as.
318
00:21:41.519 --> 00:21:44.000
The indifferent children of the earth happy?
319
00:21:44.480 --> 00:21:48.119
And that we are not over happy? Unfortune's cap We
320
00:21:48.200 --> 00:21:50.079
are not the very button.
321
00:21:50.160 --> 00:21:51.480
Nor the soles of her shoes.
322
00:21:52.200 --> 00:21:53.359
Neither, my lord.
323
00:21:53.960 --> 00:21:57.119
Then you live about her waist or in the middle
324
00:21:57.160 --> 00:22:02.480
of her favors, faith, her pride, in the secret parts
325
00:22:02.519 --> 00:22:06.440
of fortune. Oh, most true, she is a strumpet. What's
326
00:22:06.480 --> 00:22:06.960
the news?
327
00:22:07.599 --> 00:22:10.480
None, my lord, but that the world's grown honest?
328
00:22:11.119 --> 00:22:14.480
Then is doomsday near? But your news is not true?
329
00:22:15.000 --> 00:22:18.359
Let me question more, in particular, what have you, my
330
00:22:18.440 --> 00:22:21.200
good friends, deserved at the hands of fortune that she
331
00:22:21.279 --> 00:22:22.279
sends you to prison?
332
00:22:22.359 --> 00:22:24.480
Hither prison, my lord?
333
00:22:24.960 --> 00:22:26.000
Denmark's a prison?
334
00:22:26.799 --> 00:22:29.319
Then is the world one a goodly.
335
00:22:29.000 --> 00:22:32.599
One in which there are many confines, wards and dungeons,
336
00:22:33.000 --> 00:22:34.559
Denmark being one of the worst.
337
00:22:35.319 --> 00:22:37.079
We think not so, my lord?
338
00:22:37.480 --> 00:22:40.160
Why then tis none to you? For there is nothing
339
00:22:40.200 --> 00:22:42.359
either good or bad, but thinking makes it so?
340
00:22:43.400 --> 00:22:43.680
To me?
341
00:22:43.799 --> 00:22:44.519
It is a prison.
342
00:22:45.079 --> 00:22:48.640
Why then your ambition makes it one? Tis too narrow
343
00:22:48.720 --> 00:22:49.559
for your mind?
344
00:22:50.200 --> 00:22:53.720
Oh God, I could be bounded in a nutshell and
345
00:22:53.799 --> 00:22:57.160
count myself a king of infinite space. Were it not
346
00:22:57.200 --> 00:22:58.640
that I have bad dreams?
347
00:22:59.240 --> 00:23:03.519
Which dream indeed or ambition? For the very substance of
348
00:23:03.519 --> 00:23:06.559
the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream.
349
00:23:07.119 --> 00:23:10.599
A dream itself is but a shadow, truly, And I
350
00:23:10.640 --> 00:23:13.279
hold ambition of so airy and light a quality that
351
00:23:13.319 --> 00:23:14.880
it is but a shadow's shadow.
352
00:23:15.480 --> 00:23:18.920
Then are our beggar's bodies, and our monarchs and outstretched
353
00:23:18.960 --> 00:23:22.519
heroes the beggar's shadows? Shall we to the court, For
354
00:23:22.599 --> 00:23:24.240
by my fay I cannot reason?
355
00:23:24.759 --> 00:23:26.319
Will you wait upon you, my lord?
356
00:23:26.759 --> 00:23:29.759
No such matter. I will not sort you with the
357
00:23:29.799 --> 00:23:32.519
rest of my servants, For to speak to you like
358
00:23:32.559 --> 00:23:37.000
an honest man, I am most dreadfully attended. But in
359
00:23:37.079 --> 00:23:40.519
the beaten way of friendship. What make you at elsinore.
360
00:23:40.759 --> 00:23:44.039
To visit you, my lord? No other occasion.
361
00:23:44.000 --> 00:23:46.440
Beggar that I am. I am even poor in thanks,
362
00:23:46.920 --> 00:23:50.440
but I thank you, And sure, dear friends, my thanks
363
00:23:50.440 --> 00:23:53.079
are too dear. A halfpenny were you not sent?
364
00:23:53.160 --> 00:23:53.319
For?
365
00:23:54.200 --> 00:23:57.839
Is it your own inclining? Is it a free visitation.
366
00:23:58.680 --> 00:24:02.759
Come deal justly with me. Come, come, nay.
367
00:24:02.640 --> 00:24:05.240
Speak What should we say, my lord?
368
00:24:05.799 --> 00:24:09.240
Why anything but to the purpose you were sent for?
369
00:24:09.799 --> 00:24:12.319
And there is a kind of confession in your looks
370
00:24:12.319 --> 00:24:15.480
which your modesties have not craft enough to color. I
371
00:24:15.559 --> 00:24:17.599
know the good King and Queen have sent for you.
372
00:24:18.480 --> 00:24:22.160
To what end, my lord, that you must teach me?
373
00:24:23.359 --> 00:24:26.160
But let me conjure you by the rights of our fellowship,
374
00:24:26.920 --> 00:24:30.640
by the consonancy of our youth, by the obligation of
375
00:24:30.680 --> 00:24:33.880
our ever preserved love, And by what more, dear a
376
00:24:33.920 --> 00:24:37.359
better proposer could charge you withal Be even and direct
377
00:24:37.359 --> 00:24:39.319
with me, whether you were sent for or no?
378
00:24:40.200 --> 00:24:43.920
Aside to Guildenstern, What say you nay?
379
00:24:44.000 --> 00:24:46.599
Then I have an eye of you. If you love me,
380
00:24:46.680 --> 00:24:47.720
Hold not off.
381
00:24:47.960 --> 00:24:51.079
My lord, we were sent for.
382
00:24:51.680 --> 00:24:55.720
I will tell you why so shall my anticipation prevent
383
00:24:55.880 --> 00:24:59.160
your discovery and your secrecy to the King and Queen
384
00:24:59.279 --> 00:25:03.440
molt no fe I have of late, But wherefore I
385
00:25:03.559 --> 00:25:09.440
know not lost all my mirth, forgone all custom of exercises.
386
00:25:10.599 --> 00:25:13.279
And indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition that
387
00:25:13.359 --> 00:25:17.599
this goodly frame the earth seems to me a sterile promontory,
388
00:25:18.359 --> 00:25:22.759
this most excellent canopy the air. Look you, this brave
389
00:25:22.880 --> 00:25:27.759
o'er hanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire.
390
00:25:28.000 --> 00:25:31.200
Why it appears no other thing to me than a
391
00:25:31.319 --> 00:25:36.839
foul and pestilent congregation of vapors. What a piece of
392
00:25:36.960 --> 00:25:42.119
work is a man? How noble in reason, how infinite
393
00:25:42.119 --> 00:25:47.279
in faculty, in form and moving, How express and admirable
394
00:25:48.000 --> 00:25:51.240
in action? How like an angel in apprehension, How like
395
00:25:51.279 --> 00:25:55.440
a god? The beauty of the world, the paragon of animals?
396
00:25:56.559 --> 00:26:04.200
And yet to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Men?
397
00:26:04.519 --> 00:26:09.240
Delights not me, no nor woman neither, though by your
398
00:26:09.359 --> 00:26:10.839
smiling you seem to say so.
399
00:26:11.519 --> 00:26:14.039
My lord, there was no such stuff in my thoughts.
400
00:26:14.640 --> 00:26:17.119
Why did you laugh then when I said, man delights
401
00:26:17.160 --> 00:26:17.440
not me?
402
00:26:18.359 --> 00:26:21.200
To think? My lord, if you delight not in man?
403
00:26:21.319 --> 00:26:24.839
What lent and entertainment the players shall receive from you?
404
00:26:25.319 --> 00:26:27.319
We cotted them on the way, and hither they are
405
00:26:27.359 --> 00:26:28.799
coming to offer you service.
406
00:26:29.440 --> 00:26:32.559
He the place the king shall be welcome. His majesty
407
00:26:32.599 --> 00:26:35.799
shall have tribute of me. The adventurous knight shall use
408
00:26:35.839 --> 00:26:39.480
his foil and target. The lover shall not sigh gratis.
409
00:26:39.960 --> 00:26:43.160
The humorous man shall end his part in peace. The
410
00:26:43.200 --> 00:26:45.720
clown shall make those laugh whose lungs are tickled to
411
00:26:45.799 --> 00:26:49.200
the seer, and the lady shall say her mind freely,
412
00:26:49.440 --> 00:26:53.160
or the blank verse shall halt for it. What players
413
00:26:53.200 --> 00:26:53.640
are they?
414
00:26:54.279 --> 00:26:56.799
Even those you are wont to take delight in the
415
00:26:56.880 --> 00:26:58.319
tragedians of the city.
416
00:26:59.000 --> 00:27:02.119
How chance is it they travel their residence both in
417
00:27:02.160 --> 00:27:04.759
reputation and profit was better both ways?
418
00:27:05.559 --> 00:27:08.160
I think their inhibition comes by the means of the
419
00:27:08.279 --> 00:27:09.079
late innovation?
420
00:27:09.759 --> 00:27:11.880
Do they hold the same estimation they did when I
421
00:27:11.960 --> 00:27:14.119
was in the city? Are they so followed?
422
00:27:14.759 --> 00:27:16.200
No, indeed they are not.
423
00:27:16.960 --> 00:27:19.160
How comes it do they grow rusty?
424
00:27:19.920 --> 00:27:23.880
Nay? Their endeavor keeps in the wanted place? But there is, sir,
425
00:27:23.960 --> 00:27:27.359
and area of children, little iases that cry out on
426
00:27:27.440 --> 00:27:31.079
the top of question, and are most tyrannically clapped for it.
427
00:27:31.559 --> 00:27:34.799
These are now the fashion and so baradal the common stages.
428
00:27:35.160 --> 00:27:38.240
So they call them that. Many wearing rapiers are afraid
429
00:27:38.279 --> 00:27:40.559
of goose quills, and dare scarce come thither?
430
00:27:41.119 --> 00:27:45.880
What are they children? Who maintains them? How are they escotted?
431
00:27:46.599 --> 00:27:49.160
Will they pursue the quality no longer than they can sing?
432
00:27:49.880 --> 00:27:52.519
Will they not say afterwards if they should grow themselves
433
00:27:52.559 --> 00:27:55.480
to common players, as it is most like, if their
434
00:27:55.480 --> 00:27:58.359
means are no better. Their writers do them wrong to
435
00:27:58.400 --> 00:28:00.880
make them exclaim against their own succession.
436
00:28:01.400 --> 00:28:01.720
Faith.
437
00:28:01.880 --> 00:28:04.200
There has been much to do on both sides, and
438
00:28:04.279 --> 00:28:07.119
the nation holded no sin to tar them to controversy.
439
00:28:07.799 --> 00:28:10.279
That there was for a while no money bid for
440
00:28:10.400 --> 00:28:13.079
argument unless the poet and the player went to cuffs
441
00:28:13.079 --> 00:28:14.079
in the question.
442
00:28:14.440 --> 00:28:15.279
Is it possible?
443
00:28:15.960 --> 00:28:18.519
Oh, there has been much throwing about of brains.
444
00:28:19.160 --> 00:28:20.640
Do the boys carry it away?
445
00:28:21.400 --> 00:28:24.839
Aye? That they do. My Lord Hercules and his load too.
446
00:28:25.599 --> 00:28:29.160
It is not very strange, for mine uncle is king
447
00:28:29.200 --> 00:28:32.160
of Denmark, and those that would make mose at him
448
00:28:32.160 --> 00:28:36.200
while my father lived give twenty forty fifty one hundred
449
00:28:36.240 --> 00:28:39.960
ducats apiece for his picture in little Splood. There is
450
00:28:40.039 --> 00:28:43.119
something in this more than natural, if philosophy could find
451
00:28:43.119 --> 00:28:43.519
it out.
452
00:28:44.359 --> 00:28:47.880
Flourish of trumpets within there are the players.
453
00:28:48.599 --> 00:28:53.240
Gentlemen, you are welcome to Elsinore. Your hands come. Then.
454
00:28:53.599 --> 00:28:56.880
The impertinence of welcome is fashion and ceremony. Let me
455
00:28:56.920 --> 00:28:59.200
comply with you in this scarb lest my extent to
456
00:28:59.240 --> 00:29:02.240
the players, which I tell you must show fairly outward,
457
00:29:02.680 --> 00:29:06.559
should more appear like entertainment than yours. You are welcome,
458
00:29:07.400 --> 00:29:09.839
But my uncle father and aunt mother.
459
00:29:09.680 --> 00:29:13.160
Are deceived in what my dear lord I.
460
00:29:13.079 --> 00:29:16.680
Am but mad north northwest when the wind is southerly,
461
00:29:16.720 --> 00:29:18.359
I know a hawk from a handsaw.
462
00:29:18.839 --> 00:29:20.079
Enter Polonius.
463
00:29:20.440 --> 00:29:22.200
Well be with you, gentlemen.
464
00:29:23.200 --> 00:29:26.599
Hark you Gildenstern, and you two at each ear a hearer.
465
00:29:26.960 --> 00:29:29.559
That great baby you see there is not yet out
466
00:29:29.559 --> 00:29:31.160
of his swaddling clouts.
467
00:29:31.599 --> 00:29:34.319
Haply he's the second time come to them, For they
468
00:29:34.359 --> 00:29:36.279
say an old man is twice a child.
469
00:29:36.880 --> 00:29:38.839
I will prophesy he comes to tell me of the
470
00:29:38.839 --> 00:29:42.559
player's market. You say, right, sir, a Monday morning twas so.
471
00:29:42.640 --> 00:29:46.240
Indeed, my lord, I have news to tell you.
472
00:29:47.160 --> 00:29:50.440
My Lord, I have news to tell you. When Rosius
473
00:29:50.480 --> 00:29:51.839
was an actor in Rome.
474
00:29:52.319 --> 00:29:54.400
The actors are come hither, my.
475
00:29:54.480 --> 00:30:00.000
Lord, buzz buzz upon mine honor. Then came each actor
476
00:30:00.240 --> 00:30:01.039
on his ass.
477
00:30:01.720 --> 00:30:09.319
The best actors in the world, either of a tragedy, comedy, history, pastoral, pastoral, comical,
478
00:30:09.960 --> 00:30:18.680
historical pastoral, tragical historical, tragical, comical historical pastoral, seen, individable
479
00:30:19.319 --> 00:30:24.640
or poem unlimited. Cynica cannot be too heavy nor plotters
480
00:30:24.680 --> 00:30:29.000
too light for the law of writ and liberty. These
481
00:30:29.039 --> 00:30:31.039
are the only men.
482
00:30:31.200 --> 00:30:35.000
Oh, Jeptha, Judge of Israel, What a treasure hast thou?
483
00:30:35.680 --> 00:30:36.920
What a treasure had he?
484
00:30:37.319 --> 00:30:37.880
My Lord?
485
00:30:38.519 --> 00:30:41.920
Why one fair daughter and no more the witch he loved?
486
00:30:41.960 --> 00:30:42.680
Passing well?
487
00:30:43.240 --> 00:30:44.680
Still on my daughter?
488
00:30:45.400 --> 00:30:46.960
Am I not the right old Jeptha?
489
00:30:47.519 --> 00:30:50.559
If you call me Jephtha? My Lord, I have a
490
00:30:50.680 --> 00:30:53.680
daughter that I love passing wells?
491
00:30:54.039 --> 00:30:55.039
Nay that follows?
492
00:30:55.079 --> 00:30:58.000
Not what follows? Then, my lord?
493
00:30:58.519 --> 00:31:01.720
Why as by lot God? What? And then you know
494
00:31:02.200 --> 00:31:05.240
it came to pass as most like it was the
495
00:31:05.240 --> 00:31:07.759
first row of the pious Chanson will show you more.
496
00:31:08.000 --> 00:31:10.279
For look where my abridgment comes.
497
00:31:11.079 --> 00:31:13.119
Enter four or five players.
498
00:31:13.680 --> 00:31:16.759
You are welcome, masters, Welcome all. I am glad to
499
00:31:16.799 --> 00:31:21.200
see thee well welcome, good friends, O, my old friend,
500
00:31:21.599 --> 00:31:24.880
thy face is valanced since I saw thee last comest
501
00:31:24.880 --> 00:31:28.880
Thou to beard me in Denmark? What my young lady
502
00:31:28.880 --> 00:31:31.880
and mistress? By your lady, your ladyship is nearer to
503
00:31:31.920 --> 00:31:34.200
Heaven than when I saw you last. By the altitude
504
00:31:34.240 --> 00:31:37.480
of a chopping pray God, your voice, like a piece
505
00:31:37.480 --> 00:31:41.359
of uncurrant gold, be not cracked within the ring. Masters,
506
00:31:41.640 --> 00:31:45.519
you are all welcome. We'll into it like French falconers
507
00:31:45.640 --> 00:31:48.680
fly at anything we see. We'll have a speech straight.
508
00:31:48.920 --> 00:31:51.279
Come give us a taste of your quality. Come a
509
00:31:51.400 --> 00:31:52.359
passionate speech.
510
00:31:52.880 --> 00:31:54.000
What speech, my lord?
511
00:31:54.519 --> 00:31:56.799
I heard thee speak me a speech once, but it
512
00:31:56.880 --> 00:31:59.920
was never acted, or if it was not above once
513
00:32:00.119 --> 00:32:03.559
for the play, I remember pleased not the million twas
514
00:32:03.640 --> 00:32:06.920
caviare to the general, but it was as I received it,
515
00:32:07.079 --> 00:32:09.880
and others whose judgments in such matters cried in the
516
00:32:09.920 --> 00:32:14.480
top of mine, an excellent play, well digested in the scenes,
517
00:32:14.799 --> 00:32:18.319
set down with as much modesty as cunning. I remember.
518
00:32:18.480 --> 00:32:21.039
One said there were no salats in the lines to
519
00:32:21.079 --> 00:32:24.119
make the matter savory, nor no matter in the phrase
520
00:32:24.160 --> 00:32:27.640
that might indicte the author of affectation, but called it
521
00:32:27.720 --> 00:32:31.160
an honest method, as wholesome, as sweet, and by very
522
00:32:31.200 --> 00:32:34.680
much more handsome than fine one speech in it. I
523
00:32:34.799 --> 00:32:39.000
chiefly loved twas aeneas tail to Dido and thereabout of it,
524
00:32:39.119 --> 00:32:42.400
especially where he speaks of pri am slaughter. If it
525
00:32:42.480 --> 00:32:45.400
live in your memory, begin at this line. Let me see,
526
00:32:45.519 --> 00:32:50.160
let me see the rugged peerest like the Hyrcanian beast.
527
00:32:50.799 --> 00:32:54.799
It is not so. It begins with pearis the rugged peeress,
528
00:32:55.559 --> 00:32:59.319
he whose sable arms black as his purpose did the
529
00:32:59.440 --> 00:33:03.960
night resemble when he lay couched in the ominous horse hath.
530
00:33:04.079 --> 00:33:08.599
Now this dread and black complexion smeared with heraldry more
531
00:33:08.640 --> 00:33:13.079
dismal head to foot. Now is he total ghouls, horridly
532
00:33:13.200 --> 00:33:17.880
tricked with blood of fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, baked and
533
00:33:18.000 --> 00:33:22.000
impasted with the parching streets that lend a tyrannous and
534
00:33:22.240 --> 00:33:27.000
damned light to their lord's murder. Roasted in wrath and fire,
535
00:33:27.680 --> 00:33:32.799
and thus oor sized with coagulate gore, with eyes like carbuncles,
536
00:33:33.119 --> 00:33:40.240
the hellish peeress old grandsire Priam seeks so precede you.
537
00:33:41.039 --> 00:33:45.519
For God, my Lord. Well spoken with good accent and
538
00:33:45.680 --> 00:33:47.799
good Discrecian.
539
00:33:47.920 --> 00:33:52.200
Anon, he finds him striking too short at Greeks, his
540
00:33:52.319 --> 00:33:56.799
antique sword, rebellious to his arm, lies where it falls,
541
00:33:57.160 --> 00:34:02.559
repugnant to command, unequal man match'd pirus et. Priam drives
542
00:34:03.160 --> 00:34:06.960
in rage, strikes wide, but with the whiff and wind
543
00:34:07.079 --> 00:34:13.000
of his fell sword, the unnerved father falls. Then senseless Ilium,
544
00:34:13.440 --> 00:34:17.440
seeming to feel this blow with flaming top, stoops to
545
00:34:17.519 --> 00:34:22.239
his base and with a hideous crash, takes prisoner, Pirus
546
00:34:22.360 --> 00:34:26.360
ear for lo his sword, which was declining on the
547
00:34:26.440 --> 00:34:30.639
milky head of Reverend Priam, seemed the air to stick.
548
00:34:31.400 --> 00:34:35.320
So as a painted tyrant, Pirus stood, and, like a
549
00:34:35.400 --> 00:34:39.920
neutral to his will and matter did nothing. But, as
550
00:34:39.920 --> 00:34:44.440
we often see against some storm, a silence in the heavens,
551
00:34:44.920 --> 00:34:49.960
the rack stands still, the bold winds speechless, and the
552
00:34:50.159 --> 00:34:55.119
orb below as hush as death Anon, the dreadful thunder
553
00:34:55.199 --> 00:35:01.719
doth rend the region. So after Piris pause, aroused, vengeance
554
00:35:01.840 --> 00:35:05.559
sets him new a work, And never did the cyclops
555
00:35:05.679 --> 00:35:10.199
hammers fall on Mars's armor, forged for proof, return with
556
00:35:10.400 --> 00:35:15.719
less remorse than peeress. Bleeding sword now falls on Priam.
557
00:35:16.719 --> 00:35:22.559
Out out thou, strumpet fortune, all.
558
00:35:22.159 --> 00:35:27.920
You gods in general Synod, take away her power, break
559
00:35:28.320 --> 00:35:32.559
all the spokes and fellies from her wheel, and bowl
560
00:35:32.800 --> 00:35:36.239
the round, knave down the hill of heaven as low
561
00:35:36.320 --> 00:35:37.639
as to the fiends.
562
00:35:38.440 --> 00:35:39.559
This is too long.
563
00:35:40.440 --> 00:35:44.039
It shall to the barbers with your beard, prithee, say on,
564
00:35:44.400 --> 00:35:46.760
he's for a jig or a tale of bawdry, or
565
00:35:46.760 --> 00:35:50.039
he sleeps, say on, come to Hakuba.
566
00:35:50.519 --> 00:35:54.000
But who oh, who hath seen the mobled queen?
567
00:35:54.800 --> 00:35:57.599
The mobled queen that's good.
568
00:35:58.239 --> 00:36:00.679
Malbled Queen is Wood.
569
00:36:01.079 --> 00:36:05.480
Run barefoot up and down, threatening the flames with bisson
570
00:36:05.639 --> 00:36:10.000
room a clout upon that head where late the diadem stood,
571
00:36:10.360 --> 00:36:13.719
and for a robe about her lank and all o'er
572
00:36:13.800 --> 00:36:17.639
teimid loins a blanket in the alarm of fear caught
573
00:36:17.760 --> 00:36:22.840
up who this had seen with tongue and venoms deeped
574
00:36:23.559 --> 00:36:28.480
gainst fortune's state, would treason have pronounced? But if the
575
00:36:28.559 --> 00:36:33.760
gods themselves did see her, then when she saw Peerus
576
00:36:33.800 --> 00:36:38.719
make malicious sport en mincing with his sword her husband's limbs,
577
00:36:39.159 --> 00:36:43.280
the instant burst of clamor that she made, unless things
578
00:36:43.400 --> 00:36:47.000
mortal move them not at all, would have made milch
579
00:36:47.320 --> 00:36:51.159
the burning eyes of heaven and passion in the gods.
580
00:36:51.880 --> 00:36:55.320
Look whether he has not turned his color and has
581
00:36:55.400 --> 00:36:59.000
tears in SyES. Pray you no more.
582
00:37:00.199 --> 00:37:04.000
Well, I'll have thee speak out the rest soon. Good,
583
00:37:04.000 --> 00:37:06.559
my lord, will you see the players well bestowed? Do
584
00:37:06.639 --> 00:37:09.599
you hear? Let them be well used, for they are
585
00:37:09.639 --> 00:37:13.840
the abstract and brief chronicles of the time after your death.
586
00:37:13.880 --> 00:37:16.679
You were better have a bad epitaph than their ill report.
587
00:37:16.760 --> 00:37:20.239
While you live, my lord, I will use them according
588
00:37:20.280 --> 00:37:22.199
to their dessert.
589
00:37:22.000 --> 00:37:26.519
God's bodykins man much better, use every man after his dessert,
590
00:37:26.559 --> 00:37:30.039
and who should scape whipping? Use them after your own
591
00:37:30.039 --> 00:37:33.400
honor and dignity. The less they deserve, the more merit
592
00:37:33.440 --> 00:37:34.320
is in your bounty.
593
00:37:35.159 --> 00:37:37.239
Take them in come czars.
594
00:37:38.079 --> 00:37:40.159
Follow him, friends, we'll hear a play tomorrow.
595
00:37:40.599 --> 00:37:44.719
Exit Polonius with all the players, but the first.
596
00:37:44.760 --> 00:37:48.280
Dost thou hear me? Old friend? Can you play the
597
00:37:48.360 --> 00:37:49.480
murder of Gonzago?
598
00:37:50.000 --> 00:37:50.639
I'm my lord?
599
00:37:51.119 --> 00:37:54.800
Will hat tomorrow night? You could, for a need study
600
00:37:54.800 --> 00:37:57.559
a speech of some dozen or sixteen lines, which I
601
00:37:57.559 --> 00:38:00.440
would set down and insertens, could you not? I, my
602
00:38:00.519 --> 00:38:04.960
lord very well? Follow that lord, and look you mock him?
603
00:38:05.000 --> 00:38:07.639
Not exit first player, My.
604
00:38:07.639 --> 00:38:10.519
Good friends, I'll leave you till night. You are welcome
605
00:38:10.559 --> 00:38:11.159
to Elsinore.
606
00:38:11.519 --> 00:38:13.639
Good my lord, ay, so God.
607
00:38:13.400 --> 00:38:14.079
Be with ye.
608
00:38:14.239 --> 00:38:16.840
Exellunt Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
609
00:38:17.800 --> 00:38:22.440
Now I am alone? What a rogue and peasant slave?
610
00:38:22.519 --> 00:38:22.760
Am I?
611
00:38:23.840 --> 00:38:27.079
Is it not monstrous that this player here but in
612
00:38:27.159 --> 00:38:30.480
a fiction, in a dream of passion, could force his
613
00:38:30.599 --> 00:38:33.880
soul so to his own conceit that from her working
614
00:38:33.960 --> 00:38:38.000
all his visage wand tears in his eyes, distraction in
615
00:38:38.039 --> 00:38:42.199
his aspect a broken voice, and his whole functions suiting
616
00:38:42.280 --> 00:38:47.880
with forms to his conceit, and all for nothing for Hecuba.
617
00:38:48.960 --> 00:38:51.519
What's Hecuba to him? Or he to Hecuba that he
618
00:38:51.559 --> 00:38:56.639
should weep for her? What would he do? Had he
619
00:38:56.719 --> 00:38:59.400
the motive and the cue for passion that I have,
620
00:39:00.719 --> 00:39:05.239
He would drown the stage with tears, and cleave the
621
00:39:05.280 --> 00:39:09.639
general ear with horrid speech, make mad the guilty, and
622
00:39:09.760 --> 00:39:14.000
appall the free, confound the ignorant, and amaze indeed the
623
00:39:14.119 --> 00:39:19.559
very faculties of eyes and ears. Yet I a dull
624
00:39:19.719 --> 00:39:24.639
and muddy, mettled rascal pique like John a dreams, unpregnant
625
00:39:24.679 --> 00:39:28.960
of my cause, and can say nothing, no, not for
626
00:39:29.039 --> 00:39:32.880
a king upon whose property and most dear life a
627
00:39:33.039 --> 00:39:38.920
damned defeat was made. Am I a coward who calls
628
00:39:38.960 --> 00:39:42.400
me villain, breaks my pay across, plucks off my beard
629
00:39:42.440 --> 00:39:45.320
and blows it in my face, tweaks me by the nose,
630
00:39:45.679 --> 00:39:47.800
gives me the lie the throat as deep as.
631
00:39:47.639 --> 00:39:48.280
To the lungs.
632
00:39:48.559 --> 00:39:53.159
Who does me this? Ha swoons, I should take it,
633
00:39:54.000 --> 00:39:56.719
for it cannot be. But I am pigeon livered and
634
00:39:56.960 --> 00:40:00.920
lack gall to make oppression bitter or ere this I
635
00:40:00.920 --> 00:40:05.320
should have fatted all the region kites with this slave's awful,
636
00:40:06.480 --> 00:40:15.679
bloody body. Villain, remorseless, treacherous, lecherous, kindless villain, Oh vengeance,
637
00:40:17.199 --> 00:40:21.039
Why what an ass am? I this is most brave,
638
00:40:22.000 --> 00:40:26.079
that I, the son of a dear father, murdered, prompted
639
00:40:26.119 --> 00:40:29.639
to my revenge by Heaven and hell, must like a
640
00:40:29.760 --> 00:40:33.639
whore unpack my heart with words and fall a cursing
641
00:40:34.199 --> 00:40:40.519
like a very drab a scullion, figh upon it about
642
00:40:40.800 --> 00:40:46.000
my brain. I have heard that guilty creatures sitting at
643
00:40:46.000 --> 00:40:49.079
a play have, by the very cunning of the scene,
644
00:40:49.199 --> 00:40:52.480
been struck so to the soul that presently they have
645
00:40:52.639 --> 00:40:58.360
proclaimed their malefactions for murder, though it have no tongue,
646
00:40:58.440 --> 00:41:03.800
will speak with most miraculous organ I'll have these players
647
00:41:03.840 --> 00:41:07.480
play something like the murder of my father before mine uncle.
648
00:41:08.320 --> 00:41:11.440
I'll observe his looks. I'll tent him to the quick
649
00:41:11.679 --> 00:41:16.119
if he but blench, I know, my course, the spirit
650
00:41:16.199 --> 00:41:18.840
that I have seen may be the devil, and the
651
00:41:18.880 --> 00:41:22.440
devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape. Yea, and
652
00:41:22.599 --> 00:41:26.280
perhaps out of my weakness and my melancholy, as he
653
00:41:26.360 --> 00:41:30.280
is very potent with such spirits abuses me, to damn me,
654
00:41:31.679 --> 00:41:36.119
I'll have grounds more relative than this. The plays, the thing,
655
00:41:36.760 --> 00:41:38.679
wherein i'll catch the conscience of the
656
00:41:38.760 --> 00:41:43.360
King exit, and of act too,
