► Tell us about you and your podcast
Through self-powered travel I discovered what makes me happy, eventually transitioning from COO of a large consulting firm to the founder of 10Adventures, a platform to book customizable, private adventure travel vacations in over 85 countries.
Each week we talk to people who have gone on a great journey about their trip, as well as why these types of trips matter.
Our listeners are people who are planning a trip and want information, or they are adventurers looking for inspiration for their next adventure!

► Why & how did you start this podcast?
The 10Adventures Podcast was a COVID baby, inspiring all of us when we were stuck at home. Initially we talked to people in our network, and we just wanted to live vicariously through their past trips.
Over time our focus has changed, where we are talking about finding happiness by living a life that is meaningful and authentic. While we still talk to regular people on great journeys, we have found more authors and content creators to share their stories on our podcast.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
Podcasts are remarkably easy to do. It's essentially a 30-45 minute chat with somebody who is really interesting. Finding interesting people through my network, as well as through social media accounts I follow has been typically quite easy - i just invite people that share a story that I find interesting.
We use an online podcast studio, which makes recording easy, and we have a freelancer who creates the audio and video podcast, as well as a few YouTube shorts in about 2 hours per podcast.

► What do you gain from podcasting?
The biggest thing I gain is that I learn from interesting people living authentic lives. I'm living a better life thanks to all these stories I've heard.
It's also really rewarding to know we're helping others find their next adventure.
We are sponsored by 10Adventures, so not currently looking for outside sponsors.

► How does your podcasting process look like?
We find guests and schedule them, typically 2-4 weeks in advance of recording. As part of the planning we share examples of questions we will ask, and ask for feedback.
We record all podcasts on riverside.fm, which has been good for us 99% of the time.
Once recorded, we have a freelancer that edits and uploads the audio and video to our podcast and youtube channels.

► How do you market your show?
We use 10Adventures existing social channels and newsletters. I think it would be very challenging to get a podcast started if you don't have an audience we are already using.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I would suggest potential podcasters to choose a topic that is beneficial and interesting to them as the first step, as it's so hard to find a niche and get noticed if you don't have an audience already.
Secondly, it's important to be regular. We have released an episode every week for almost 3 years now. Consistency is key.
Third, we just started on YouTube, and getting listens of an entire podcast is hard, but YouTube shorts are quite effective.
