hugh everett iii (; November 11, 1930 – July 19, 1982) was an American physicist who first proposed the many-worlds interpretation (MWI) of quantum physics, which he termed his "relative state" formulation. In contrast to the then-dominant Copenhagen interpretation, the MWI posits that the Schrödinger equation never collapses and that all possibilities of a quantum superposition are objectively real.
Discouraged by the scorn of other physicists for MWI, Everett ended his physics career after completing his PhD. Afterwards, he developed the use of generalized Lagrange multipliers for operations research and applied this commercially as a defense analyst and a consultant.
Ep.2: Worlds Within Worlds
The Decisions Which Echo
As the Cuban Missile Crisis intensifies, President John F. Kennedy assembles his closest advisors in the Oval Office to discuss their next steps. Among them is a new and unconventional figure, Dr. Hugh Everett III, a quantum physicist from Princeton University. While mil…
70: ThinkWORKS 70 The Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics!
Reality is not certain. Actions and events have consequences that may create a universe for every possible outcome. And you exist in many of these realities all at once. This is the conclusion that Hugh Everett III made in the mid 1950s and faced so much scorn and resistance that he left the field.…

John talks about the development of AlphaGo/DeepMind and how it defeated Lee SeDol based on the book The Maniac about John von Neumann. What will the impact of AI be (and already is)? Roger Penrose argues that AI cannot reach self-awareness outside quantum computing in his book The Emperor's New Mi…
Are You Already Dead in Another Timeline? The Terrifying Theory of Quantum Immortality
A 1957 Princeton theorem proves the human mind has no apparatus to register its own non-existence — under the many-worlds interpretation, consciousness remains condemned to anchor itself in branches where it survives, however improbable. Hugh Everett's quantum mathematics and Neville Goddard's 1949…
