► Tell us about you and your podcast
We are Dustin Miller and Lesedi Marumo. Our podcast is called MILLER TIME MEDIA, and these interviews usually take place during our live daily radio show, which airs 9am until 12pm weekdays, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We began podcasting as there was a demand from our radio listeners to be able to listen to our interviews at other times, especially if they were working and not able to listen when we were live. Also, others wished to share them with their friends , and family, around the world. Podcasting was a way for them to do this.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We release an average of one episode per day. We are self-funded, unless we have a sponsored segment. For the most part, we put the time and effort into editing the podcasts each day after the show airs, and posting.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We do take advertising on the radio programme, and sometimes that transfers to the podcast, and others not. We must look at the value of sharing the information we do to our listener, and we love the feedback we receive. We often speak to actors and musicians, and this has given me an opportunity to meet and chat to people I have long been a fan of, especially musicians and television actors.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Everything we do on the radio is recorded via a logging computer. Each day I must pull the recordings for the specific hours, and cut the interviews and segments we wish to podcast from the hour. I use Adobe Audition to edit. We do interviews via Skype, Telephone, and live, when possible.
► How do you market your show?
Various social media platforms.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Do not start a podcast for the sake of podcasting. Find a topic you are passionate about, and build around that. Too many people begin podcasting simply because they "can" anymore, and the technology has become easier to obtain. If you are not genuinely interested in what you speak about, the listener will know, and very quickly tune out.
