► Tell us about you and your podcast
My background is automotive marketing. For the past 25 years I have promoted car companies and car events through television programs, videos, and live events.
Drive Along with Ron Baker is about me interviewing interesting people related to the auto industry. From car collectors to automotive product representatives. Listeners include people interested in car related interviews and people who generally find stories about interesting people appealing.

► Why & how did you start this podcast?
With a production background I was very interested in the evolution of podcasting and how much the podcast community/industry has grown in recent years.
I was looking for a way of connecting with people I have known in the automotive sector plus others that I thought would have a good story to tell. My podcast began airing in January of this year (2021).
From the time I landed on the podcast idea and understood the format, it took three weeks to record and produce the first episode.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I have been releasing two episodes a month on average. The goal is to increase that to one a week. It takes on average about 10 hours to organize the interview, record the conversation and then edit the material and prepare it as an episode of the podcast.
Initially I am self funded. As we grow our numbers we will bring on sponsors, and start providing more entertainment for our listeners in the form of contests and give-aways.

► What do you gain from podcasting?
As stated above, we are approaching a time when we will be accepting sponsors.
We will attract sponsors in the automotive segment. At this point we have turned down opportunities of sponsorship because we want to be able to provide a decent ROI.
This podcast is attached to my production business so it is a form of promotion for my company, Driven Marketing Productions.

► How does your podcasting process look like?
Tools include a Shure microphone a Mackie soundboard, various lights and stands plus record/editing software run on a production computer.
I find guests through my connections in the auto industry. (25 years worth of contacts).
Each episode is recorded as part of a Zoom interview. The audio files are then converted and used in audio editing software.

► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
I was lucky because I come from a production background, My advice "don't underestimate the importance of good audio production values". Most helpful is Google (internet search) because there is a lot of very good advice, how-to videos and insights available online. Anyone starting out will need a different guidance based on their knowledge base. For me, the audio production component just meant pulling record and edit equipment out of storage.
