► Tell us about you and your podcast
My name is Lucia, I am an emmy nominated host and also a licensed clinical therapist. My podcast is called WellSeekers w/ Lucia. It is a show about real life solutions and stories for us all to live better, brighter and more well. To form a better relationship w/ ourselves, others and life.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I had a national radio show ages ago when I was fully in media, but when I got my second masters (now Im working on my doctorate,) I wanted to use the power of podcasting to get the word out about so many critical holistic mental and emotional health issues. We are in the middle of a mental health crisis and emotional health, and I want to be a part of the solution.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I used my skills from my past work in broadcast, so feel lucky I do know how to record and edit, but now things are so accessible, you don't really need the recording and editing skills like you use to. I use my free time to do everything for the show, book, record etc., and have a good friend who helps and believes in me too who helps with editing. He is amazing and I am lucky to have him believe in me too. I also am lucky that I have more than a decade in interviewing skills to help guide me and a passion for people and asking questions goes a long way as well.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Podcasting for me is about giving a voice to stories and solutions, connection with others and helping people w/ the knowledge they learn. I hope to have more downloads and keep growing our family and site. It is all about connecting, sharing and solutions and being able to pass that on means so much - I am so blessed to be a podcaster. If I could do it part-time or even quarter time, it would be a dream come true.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use a zoom recorder (audio) and lately have been doing zoom the platform. (video/audio) I use my old skills of producing to book guests, research them and write questions. It is intense work, but worth it! Then I have an amazing editor who makes everything sound like perfection!
► How do you market your show?
I use social media and some sites like "Mix," but I need to focus on this now that it is up and running more. I am bad at promoting my self, but have to think of it as promoting the message of the show which is you are not alone in this journey of healing, hope and life! There are solutions to your questions and pain and people walking with you and sharing their stories too.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Keep going, don't wait for perfection to start, just tweak as you go!
