► Tell us about you and your podcast
I'm an Author, Journalist, and Emmy award-winning writer. My entire career, my podcast, and my life were shaped by my interaction with the mental health system ten years ago. I want people to learn better tools for maintaining and improving their well-being before crisis strikes. We have an audience of listeners between 18-55, split equally between male and female.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
I listen to seven podcasts a day. My motivation is to provide clear goals, self-help tips and methods of healing for a person who can't afford therapy. I started the podcast two years ago. I released the first episode within a week.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I am very careful about who I partner with. I worked in television and radio and saw how commercial advertising can corrupt the product. I choose partners who believe like I do, that mental illness needs to be stigmatized, that there is much we can do to maintain and improve our mental health, and that recovery is possible.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
It is thrilling to research a new topic, and I'm on the receiving end of what feels like great therapy.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
I use a Shure Microphone, a sweetwater amp, a pro logic camera, and I record my guests (during the pandemic) via zoom.
► How do you market your show?
I use social media exclusively.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Make sure you are obsessed by the topic. It is hard work to make a podcast and maintain it. The topic has to thrill you, delight you, and make you its slave. Ha.
