► Tell us about you and your podcast
I am Shannon Mitchell, a black millennial entrepreneur, and author, the founder of ShealoGlo, an all-natural handmade personal products company that helps people glo from head to toe. I am a champion for your self-care, business care & intentional wellness.
Hi Y’all - I am Christine Gautreaux, a white social justice advocate, an international speaker, coach, published author, and dancing social worker who helps you upgrade your self & community care.
Together we are a Podcast rooted in the 8 dimensions of wellness and the co-founders of the Women Connected in Wisdom Community.
We gather weekly for intentional conversations about how to be wise in business, relationships & wellness and invite awesome guests to share their expertise and stories with us and our listeners.
Our listeners are women (and a few men) from all over the globe. They are caring people who are doing their best to take care of themselves, their families, and their communities and make a difference in the world. They are seeking tools and resources to juggle all the things and be well in all the dimensions.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
We are both a part of Christine's weekly Manifesting Monday Mastermind group and have been having in-depth conversations about wellness for the past 4 years and decided that we wanted to have these cross-generational, multi-cultural conversations with more women so the podcast was born.
We believe in lifting up women's voices - especially for women who are often marginalized. There is so much wisdom to be shared and we when connect and listen to each other's stories it makes a difference and can affect change within ourselves and our communities.
Caregivers (mostly women) are in danger because of putting others' needs and health above their own. We want to spread the message and give practical tools and resources on how to be well in all 8 dimensions of wellness in order to maintain self-care in order to sustain and thrive in community care.
We both love listening to podcasts while we're actively living our lives and we like the accessibility it gives folks - they can join us live and interact or they can listen at their convenience. It's like having a really good conversation with a friend over a cuppa tea. Conversations that stick with you as you go about your week.
We started our podcast on Jan. 13th, 2021 - we went live and released it to all major platforms within 24 hours.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
We make the time by inking it into our calendars and showing up as we are. We have automated systems in place that support doing it as efficiently and effectively as possible and we have a team that supports us a couple of hours a week because we both have businesses that we run in addition to the podcast.
This podcast is currently sponsored by Shealo Glo & Christine Gautreaux, Consulting and the Women Connected in Wisdom Community.
We record every Wednesday at 5 pm ET. We do pre-production and coffee & chats with our upcoming guests the hour before we go live. The 30 min after the show we process and upload everything needed for our post-production professional to get the show ready for mass distribution. The show is lightly audio produced and our intro/outro & commercial are added and it's launched within 24 hours.
It is definitely a commitment & we have so much fun doing it!
► What do you gain from podcasting?
We would consider additional sponsorship if it was a good fit for our values and our listeners.
We have gained so much from podcasting.
We use it as one of our major marketing tools for our businesses. We have both gained new clients within the past year.
Our friendship and collaborations have grown.
We are building a strong resilient community and the feedback we keep getting is that it is so necessary and valuable during these chaotic times.
We currently have a new book coming out in Sept. called Women Connected in Wisdom Stories and Resources Rooted in the 8 Dimensions of Wellness.
This book is a compilation book of 18 wise women that was born out of the podcast and another way to get these stories out into the world.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
We use Streamyard to go live and record.
We use Libsyn to host and distribute our audio producer uses her editing software.
We find guests from our own networks, through people reaching out to us on social media and through LinkedIn connections. Recently we've been having folks' publicists reach out to us too.
We have a list of questions for our guests to answer when they book a pre-interview coffee & chat with us. We start building our show notes at that time and work on the title together when we meet. We talk about their message to the world and what dimension of wellness it would fit best with. We interview our guests on Streamyard because we want to make sure they can access it since we use it for our recording and show.
