00:00:17.679 --> 00:00:23.120
Act three, Scene one, a room in the castle. Enter
5
00:00:23.399 --> 00:00:30.800
King Claudius, Queen Gertrude, Polonius, Ophelia, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern.
6
00:00:31.879 --> 00:00:34.880
And can you, by no drift of circumstance get from him?
7
00:00:34.960 --> 00:00:38.799
Why he puts on this confusion, grating so harshly all
8
00:00:38.799 --> 00:00:42.079
his days of quiet, with turbulent and dangerous lunacy.
9
00:00:42.880 --> 00:00:46.640
He does confess himself distracted. But from what cause you will,
10
00:00:46.640 --> 00:00:47.640
by no means.
11
00:00:47.359 --> 00:00:50.600
Speak, Nor do we find him forward to be sounded,
12
00:00:51.119 --> 00:00:55.439
but with a crafty madness keeps aloof when we would
13
00:00:55.479 --> 00:00:59.439
bring him on to some confession of his true state?
14
00:01:00.119 --> 00:01:03.399
Did he receive you well moost, like a gentleman.
15
00:01:03.359 --> 00:01:05.799
But with much forcing of his disposition?
16
00:01:06.400 --> 00:01:09.000
Did you say him to any pastime?
17
00:01:09.599 --> 00:01:12.799
Madam? It so fell out that certain players we o'er
18
00:01:12.840 --> 00:01:15.000
wrought on the way of this we told him, and
19
00:01:15.079 --> 00:01:16.959
there did seem in him a kind of joy to
20
00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:20.040
hear it there about the court. And as I think
21
00:01:20.120 --> 00:01:22.040
they have already ordered this night to play.
22
00:01:21.879 --> 00:01:26.040
Before him is bost true, and he beseech me to
23
00:01:26.319 --> 00:01:29.519
entreat your Majesty's to hear and see.
24
00:01:29.200 --> 00:01:33.000
The matter with all my heart. And it doth much
25
00:01:33.079 --> 00:01:36.760
content me to hear him so inclined, good gentleman, give
26
00:01:36.840 --> 00:01:39.560
him a further edge and drive his purpose on to
27
00:01:39.640 --> 00:01:40.359
these delights.
28
00:01:40.879 --> 00:01:41.480
We shall, my.
29
00:01:41.439 --> 00:01:45.640
Lord Exellant Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern.
30
00:01:45.280 --> 00:01:48.680
Sweet Gertrude, leave us too, for we have closely sent

for Hamlet hither that he as to where by accident
32

may hear a Frontophelia, her father and myself lawful espiels,

there encounter frankly judge and gather by him as he
35
00:02:04.480 --> 00:02:07.079
has behaved, if it be the affliction of his love,
36
00:02:07.200 --> 00:02:08.759
or no, that thus he suffers.
37
00:02:08.800 --> 00:02:13.560
For I shall obey you, and for your part, Ophelia,
38
00:02:13.759 --> 00:02:16.560
I do wish that your good beauties be the happy

cause of Hamlet's wildness. So shall I hope your virtues
40
00:02:21.120 --> 00:02:24.240
will bring him to his wonted way again to both
41
00:02:24.319 --> 00:02:27.439
your honors, Madame, I wish it.
42
00:02:27.439 --> 00:02:31.719
May exit, Queen Gertrude.
43
00:02:30.919 --> 00:02:36.400
Ophelia, walk you here, gracious, so please you, we will
44
00:02:36.439 --> 00:02:42.680
bestow ourselves to Ophelia read on this book that sure
45
00:02:42.800 --> 00:02:46.840
of such an exercise may color your loneliness, We are
46
00:02:46.879 --> 00:02:50.599
oft to blame in this tis too much proved that
47
00:02:50.639 --> 00:02:54.599
with devotion's visage it pious action we do sugar owe
48
00:02:54.639 --> 00:02:57.840
the devil himself aside.
49
00:02:58.560 --> 00:03:03.719
Oh tis too true? How smart a lash that speech
50
00:03:03.800 --> 00:03:09.719
doth give my conscience. The harlot's cheek, beautied with plastering art,
51
00:03:09.800 --> 00:03:11.919
is not more ugly to the thing that helps it
52
00:03:12.000 --> 00:03:17.599
than is my deed to my most painted word. Oh,
53
00:03:17.919 --> 00:03:19.439
heavy burden.
54
00:03:20.400 --> 00:03:23.639
I hear him coming. Let's withdraw, my.
55
00:03:23.719 --> 00:03:30.199
Lord Exeant, King Claudius and Polonius enter Hamlet.
56
00:03:30.840 --> 00:03:35.080
To be or not to be? That is the question,
57
00:03:36.199 --> 00:03:39.120
whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings
58
00:03:39.120 --> 00:03:43.039
and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against
59
00:03:43.080 --> 00:03:48.800
a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them to die,
60
00:03:49.039 --> 00:03:52.840
to sleep no more, and by a sleep, to say
61
00:03:52.879 --> 00:03:56.759
we end the heart ache and the thousand natural shocks
62
00:03:56.800 --> 00:04:00.280
that flesh is heir to. Tis a consummation devoutly to
63
00:04:00.280 --> 00:04:06.719
be wished to die, to sleep, to sleep, perchance to
64
00:04:06.840 --> 00:04:10.520
dream Aye, there's the rub, For in that sleep of death,
65
00:04:10.560 --> 00:04:13.039
what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this
66
00:04:13.280 --> 00:04:17.319
mortal coil must give us pause. There's the respect that
67
00:04:17.439 --> 00:04:21.079
makes calamity of so long life, For who would bear
68
00:04:21.160 --> 00:04:24.920
the whips and scorns of time, the oppressors wrong, the
69
00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:29.759
proud man's condomly, the pangs of despised love, the laws delay,
70
00:04:30.120 --> 00:04:33.959
the insolence of office, and the spurns that patient merit
71
00:04:34.040 --> 00:04:38.759
of the unworthy takes when he himself might his quietus
72
00:04:38.800 --> 00:04:43.800
make with a bare bodkin, who would fardles, bear to
73
00:04:44.040 --> 00:04:47.879
grunt and sweat under a weary life? But that the
74
00:04:48.000 --> 00:04:52.839
dread of something after death, the undiscovered country from whose
75
00:04:52.879 --> 00:04:57.120
bore no traveler returns, puzzles the will and makes us
76
00:04:57.199 --> 00:04:59.920
rather bear those ills we have than fly to others
77
00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:04.879
that we know not of. Thus conscience does make cowards
78
00:05:04.920 --> 00:05:08.240
of us all. And thus the native hue of resolution
79
00:05:08.439 --> 00:05:11.759
is sickly o'er with the pale cast of thought and
80
00:05:12.040 --> 00:05:15.720
enterprises of great pith and moment. With this regard, their
81
00:05:15.759 --> 00:05:19.879
currents turn awry and lose the name of action. Soft
82
00:05:19.920 --> 00:05:26.319
you now faerophilia nymph in thy orisons be all my
83
00:05:26.480 --> 00:05:27.439
sins remembered.
84
00:05:28.439 --> 00:05:31.920
Good, my lord, how does your honor for this many
85
00:05:31.920 --> 00:05:32.279
a day?
86
00:05:33.160 --> 00:05:34.120
I humbly thank you?
87
00:05:35.120 --> 00:05:35.439
Well?
88
00:05:36.639 --> 00:05:42.519
Well, well, my lord, I have remembrances of yours that
89
00:05:42.639 --> 00:05:47.519
I have longed long to redeliver. I pray you now
90
00:05:47.600 --> 00:05:48.360
receive them.
91
00:05:49.120 --> 00:05:52.040
No, not I I never gave you aught.
92
00:05:52.399 --> 00:05:55.920
My honored lord, you know right well you did, and
93
00:05:56.040 --> 00:06:00.639
with them words of so sweet breath composed has made
94
00:06:00.680 --> 00:06:05.319
the things more rich, their perfume lost. Take these again,
95
00:06:05.959 --> 00:06:09.800
for to the noble mind, rich gifts wax poor when
96
00:06:09.839 --> 00:06:14.839
givers prove unkind There, my lord, ha ha.
97
00:06:15.639 --> 00:06:19.120
Are you honest, my lord? Are you fair?
98
00:06:19.920 --> 00:06:22.519
What means, your lordship that if you.
99
00:06:22.519 --> 00:06:25.639
Be honest and fair, your honesty should admit no discourse
100
00:06:25.720 --> 00:06:26.519
to your beauty?
101
00:06:27.040 --> 00:06:31.720
Could beauty, my lord, have better commerce than with honesty.
102
00:06:31.759 --> 00:06:35.680
Ay truly, for the power of beauty will sooner transform
103
00:06:35.720 --> 00:06:38.439
honesty from what it is to a bawd than the
104
00:06:38.480 --> 00:06:42.199
force of honesty can translate beauty into his likeness. This
105
00:06:42.480 --> 00:06:45.399
was some time a paradox, but now the time gives
106
00:06:45.439 --> 00:06:47.680
it proof. I did love you once.
107
00:06:48.519 --> 00:06:51.160
Indeed, my Lord, you made me believe, so.
108
00:06:52.079 --> 00:06:55.560
You should not have believed me. For virtue cannot so
109
00:06:55.680 --> 00:06:58.399
inoculate our old stock, but we shall relish of it.
110
00:06:58.879 --> 00:06:59.920
I loved you, not.
111
00:07:00.839 --> 00:07:02.399
I was the more deceived.
112
00:07:03.000 --> 00:07:05.680
Get thee to a nunnery. Why wouldst thou be a
113
00:07:05.680 --> 00:07:09.240
breeder of sinners? I am myself indifferent, honest, But yet
114
00:07:09.279 --> 00:07:11.360
I could accuse me of such things that it were
115
00:07:11.399 --> 00:07:16.600
better my mother had not borne me. I am very proud, revengeful, ambitious,
116
00:07:16.879 --> 00:07:19.199
with more offenses at my beck than I have thoughts
117
00:07:19.240 --> 00:07:21.839
to put them in imagination, to give them shape or
118
00:07:21.879 --> 00:07:25.160
time to act them in What should such fellows as
119
00:07:25.160 --> 00:07:29.040
I do, crawling between earth and heaven? We are errant knaves?
120
00:07:29.040 --> 00:07:33.920
All believe none of us? Go thy ways to a nunnery.
121
00:07:34.879 --> 00:07:37.000
Where is your father at home?
122
00:07:37.319 --> 00:07:37.839
My lord?
123
00:07:38.600 --> 00:07:41.199
Let the doors be shut upon him, that he may
124
00:07:41.199 --> 00:07:43.199
play the fool nowhere but in his own house?
125
00:07:44.120 --> 00:07:47.680
Farewell, Oh help him you, sweet heavens.
126
00:07:48.480 --> 00:07:51.040
If thou dost marry, I'll give thee this plague for
127
00:07:51.079 --> 00:07:54.040
thy dowry. Be thou as chaste, as ice, as pure
128
00:07:54.040 --> 00:07:57.160
as snow. Thou shalt not escape calumny. Get thee to
129
00:07:57.240 --> 00:08:00.920
a nunnery, Go farewell, Or if thou wilt needs marry,
130
00:08:00.959 --> 00:08:03.879
marry a fool for wise men know well enough what
131
00:08:04.040 --> 00:08:07.000
monsters you make of them to a nunnery. Go and
132
00:08:07.160 --> 00:08:09.079
quickly too, farewell.
133
00:08:09.279 --> 00:08:12.120
Oh, heavenly powers restore him.
134
00:08:12.759 --> 00:08:15.879
I have heard of your paintings too well enough. God
135
00:08:15.879 --> 00:08:18.680
has given you one face, and you make yourselves another.
136
00:08:19.279 --> 00:08:23.240
You jig, you amble, and you lisp and nickname God's creatures,
137
00:08:23.279 --> 00:08:27.680
and make your wantonness, your ignorance, go too. I'll know more.
138
00:08:27.720 --> 00:08:31.800
Aunt it hath made me mad? I say we will
139
00:08:31.839 --> 00:08:35.519
have no more marriages. Those that are married already, all
140
00:08:35.600 --> 00:08:38.440
but one shall live. The rest shall keep as they
141
00:08:38.480 --> 00:08:39.879
are to a nunnery.
142
00:08:40.320 --> 00:08:41.759
Go exit.
143
00:08:42.440 --> 00:08:48.159
Oh what a noble mind is here? O'erthrown the courtiers, soldiers,
144
00:08:48.600 --> 00:08:53.440
scholar's eye, tongue sword, the expectancy and rose of the
145
00:08:53.519 --> 00:08:57.879
fair state, the glass of fashion and the mold of form,
146
00:08:58.399 --> 00:09:03.279
the observed of all observers, quite quite down, and I
147
00:09:03.600 --> 00:09:07.440
of ladies, most deject and wretched, that sucked the honey
148
00:09:07.519 --> 00:09:11.120
of his music vows. Now see that noble and most
149
00:09:11.320 --> 00:09:16.120
sovereign reason, like sweet bells jangled out of tune and harsh,
150
00:09:16.759 --> 00:09:21.360
that unmatched form and feature of blown youth blasted with ecstasy.
151
00:09:22.759 --> 00:09:26.200
Oh woe is me to have seen what I have seen,
152
00:09:26.919 --> 00:09:28.559
See what I see.
153
00:09:28.840 --> 00:09:32.919
Re enter King Claudius and Polonius love.
154
00:09:33.840 --> 00:09:37.799
His affections do not that way tend. Nor what he spake,
155
00:09:38.000 --> 00:09:40.960
though it lacked form a little, was not like madness.
156
00:09:42.080 --> 00:09:45.360
There's something in his soul or which his melancholy sits
157
00:09:45.399 --> 00:09:48.559
on brood. And I do doubt the hatch and the
158
00:09:48.600 --> 00:09:52.200
disclose will be some danger, which for to prevent I
159
00:09:52.240 --> 00:09:55.639
have in quick determination. Thus set it down. He shall,
160
00:09:55.679 --> 00:09:59.360
with speed to England for the demand of our neglected tribute.
161
00:09:59.519 --> 00:10:03.679
Haply and countries different with variable objects shall expel this
162
00:10:03.840 --> 00:10:08.120
something settled matter in his heart whereon his brain still beating,
163
00:10:08.240 --> 00:10:12.320
puts him thus from fashion of himself. What think you want?
164
00:10:13.159 --> 00:10:16.840
It shall do well? Yet, do I believe the origin
165
00:10:16.960 --> 00:10:22.679
and commencement of his grief sprung from neglected love? How now, Ophelia,
166
00:10:23.320 --> 00:10:26.399
you need not tell us what Lord Hamlet said. We
167
00:10:26.519 --> 00:10:30.720
heard it all, my lord, do as you please. But
168
00:10:30.919 --> 00:10:34.120
if you hold it fared after the play, let his
169
00:10:34.279 --> 00:10:37.559
queen mother all alone entreat him to shew his grief.
170
00:10:38.399 --> 00:10:41.559
Let her be round with him, and I'll be pleased,
171
00:10:41.879 --> 00:10:45.080
so please you in the air of all their confidence.
172
00:10:45.840 --> 00:10:49.279
If she find him not to England, send him or
173
00:10:49.399 --> 00:10:52.240
can find him where your wisdom best shall think.
174
00:10:53.000 --> 00:10:58.600
It shall be so madness and great ones must not unwatched.
175
00:10:58.080 --> 00:11:05.279
Go excellent scene too a hall in the castle, enter Hamlet,
176
00:11:05.399 --> 00:11:07.720
and players speak the speech.
177
00:11:07.759 --> 00:11:10.480
I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly
178
00:11:10.600 --> 00:11:13.399
on the tongue. But if you mouth it as many
179
00:11:13.399 --> 00:11:15.879
of your players do, I had as lief the town
180
00:11:15.960 --> 00:11:19.279
crier spoke my lines. Nor do not saw the air
181
00:11:19.320 --> 00:11:22.480
too much with your hand. Thus, but use all gently,
182
00:11:23.159 --> 00:11:26.440
for in the very torrent tempest, and as I may say,
183
00:11:26.519 --> 00:11:29.879
the whirlwind of passion, you must acquire and beget a
184
00:11:30.000 --> 00:11:33.799
temperance that may give it smoothness. Oh, it offends me
185
00:11:33.879 --> 00:11:37.440
to the soul to hear a robustious, periwig pated fellow
186
00:11:37.559 --> 00:11:41.639
terra passion to tatters, to very rags, to split the
187
00:11:41.720 --> 00:11:44.759
ears of the groundlings, who for the most part are
188
00:11:44.799 --> 00:11:48.919
capable of nothing but inexplicable dumb shows and noise. I
189
00:11:48.960 --> 00:11:52.159
would have such a fellow whipped for o'er doing termagant
190
00:11:52.600 --> 00:11:56.360
it out Herod's Herod. Pray you avoid it.
191
00:11:57.039 --> 00:11:59.320
I warrant your honor be not too.
192
00:11:59.320 --> 00:12:02.480
Tame neither, but let your own discretion, be your tutor,
193
00:12:03.360 --> 00:12:05.919
suit the action to the word, the word to the action,
194
00:12:06.360 --> 00:12:09.879
with this special observance that you er step not the
195
00:12:09.960 --> 00:12:13.720
modesty of nature for anything so overdone as from the
196
00:12:13.720 --> 00:12:16.840
purpose of playing, whose end, both at the first and
197
00:12:17.000 --> 00:12:20.720
now was and is to hold as twere the mirror
198
00:12:20.799 --> 00:12:24.960
up to nature, to show virtue her own feature, scorn
199
00:12:25.039 --> 00:12:27.679
her own image, and the very age and body of
200
00:12:27.720 --> 00:12:31.720
the time his form and pressure. Now this overdone, or
201
00:12:31.799 --> 00:12:35.919
come tardy off, though it make the unskillful laugh, cannot
202
00:12:36.080 --> 00:12:39.759
but make the judicious grieve the censure of the which
203
00:12:39.799 --> 00:12:42.279
one must in your allowance, or weigh a whole theater
204
00:12:42.440 --> 00:12:45.919
of others. Oh, there be players that I have seen
205
00:12:46.000 --> 00:12:49.279
play and heard others praise, and that highly not to
206
00:12:49.360 --> 00:12:53.600
speak it profanely, that neither having the accent of Christians,
207
00:12:53.639 --> 00:12:57.159
nor the gait of Christian pagan nor man, have so
208
00:12:57.440 --> 00:13:00.759
strutted and bellowed that I have thought some of Nature's
209
00:13:00.840 --> 00:13:04.159
journeymen had made men and not made them well. They
210
00:13:04.200 --> 00:13:06.639
imitated humanity so abominably.
211
00:13:07.360 --> 00:13:10.320
I hope we have reformed that indifferently with us, sir.
212
00:13:10.759 --> 00:13:14.240
Oh, reform it altogether, and let those that play your
213
00:13:14.279 --> 00:13:17.360
clowns speak no more than is set down for them,
214
00:13:17.799 --> 00:13:20.240
for there be of them that will themselves laugh, to
215
00:13:20.320 --> 00:13:23.440
set on some quantity of barren spectators to laugh too.
216
00:13:23.960 --> 00:13:26.840
Though in the meantime some necessary question of the play
217
00:13:26.919 --> 00:13:30.679
be then to be considered. That's villainous and shows a
218
00:13:30.720 --> 00:13:34.200
most pitiful ambition in the fool that uses it. Go
219
00:13:34.720 --> 00:13:35.080
make you.
220
00:13:35.080 --> 00:13:41.559
Ready, excellant players, Enter, Polonius, rosen Krantz and Guildenstern.
221
00:13:42.120 --> 00:13:45.000
How now, my lord will the king hear this piece
222
00:13:45.000 --> 00:13:50.279
of work? And the Queen too, and that presently bid
223
00:13:50.320 --> 00:13:54.639
the players make haste exit, Polonius, Will you two help
224
00:13:54.679 --> 00:13:55.360
to hasten them?
225
00:13:55.759 --> 00:13:59.759
We will, my lord, Excellant rosen Krantz and Guildenstern.
226
00:14:00.240 --> 00:14:01.600
What ho Horatio?
227
00:14:01.960 --> 00:14:05.159
Enter Horatio here, sweet lord, at your.
228
00:14:05.000 --> 00:14:09.159
Service, Horatio, thou art een as just a man as
229
00:14:09.200 --> 00:14:13.600
air my conversation coped withal. Oh, my dear lord, nay,
230
00:14:13.639 --> 00:14:16.600
do not think I flatter? For what advancement may I
231
00:14:16.639 --> 00:14:19.120
hope from thee that no revenue hast but thy good
232
00:14:19.159 --> 00:14:22.279
spirits to feed and clothe thee? Why should the poor
233
00:14:22.399 --> 00:14:23.080
be flattered?
234
00:14:23.399 --> 00:14:23.480
No?
235
00:14:24.200 --> 00:14:27.720
Let the candid tongue, lick, absurd pomp and crook the
236
00:14:27.759 --> 00:14:31.080
pregnant hinges of the knee, where thrift may follow fawning.
237
00:14:31.799 --> 00:14:35.519
Dost thou here, since my dear soul was mistress of
238
00:14:35.559 --> 00:14:39.039
her choice, and could of men distinguish her election, hath
239
00:14:39.120 --> 00:14:42.799
sealed THEE for herself. For thou hast been as one
240
00:14:42.960 --> 00:14:46.639
in suffering all that suffers nothing a man that fortune's
241
00:14:46.639 --> 00:14:50.759
buffets and rewards hast tain with equal thanks. And blest
242
00:14:50.840 --> 00:14:53.720
are those whose blood and judgment are so well commingled
243
00:14:54.039 --> 00:14:56.720
that they are not a pipe for fortune's finger to sound.
244
00:14:56.759 --> 00:14:57.240
What stop?
245
00:14:57.360 --> 00:14:57.440
She?
246
00:14:57.519 --> 00:15:01.320
Please give me that man that is not Passion's slave,
247
00:15:01.879 --> 00:15:04.799
and I will wear him in my heart's core, I
248
00:15:05.480 --> 00:15:09.440
in my heart of heart, as I do THEE. Something
249
00:15:09.480 --> 00:15:11.919
too much of this? There is a play to night
250
00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:14.799
before the King. One scene of it comes near the
251
00:15:14.840 --> 00:15:17.440
circumstance which I have told THEE of my father's death.
252
00:15:17.759 --> 00:15:20.759
I prithee when thou seest that act of foot, even
253
00:15:20.799 --> 00:15:24.159
with the very comment of thy soul, observe mine uncle,
254
00:15:24.919 --> 00:15:28.720
if his occulted guilt do not itself uncannel in one's speech.
255
00:15:29.360 --> 00:15:31.960
It is a damned ghost that we have seen, and
256
00:15:32.039 --> 00:15:36.440
my imaginations are as foul as vulcan STYTHEE give him
257
00:15:36.480 --> 00:15:39.720
a heedful note. For I mine eyes will rivet to
258
00:15:39.840 --> 00:15:43.240
his face, and after we will both our judgments join
259
00:15:43.320 --> 00:15:44.600
in censure of his seeming.
260
00:15:45.279 --> 00:15:48.240
Well, my lord, if he still aught the whilst this
261
00:15:48.360 --> 00:15:51.080
play is playing, and escape detecting, I will.
262
00:15:50.960 --> 00:15:51.639
Pay the theft.
263
00:15:52.200 --> 00:15:54.279
They are coming to the play. I must be idle
264
00:15:54.559 --> 00:15:55.320
get you a place.
265
00:15:55.960 --> 00:16:06.440
Danish march, a flourish enter, King Clok, Queen, Gertrude, Polonius, Ophelia, Rosencrantz, Geldenstern,
266
00:16:06.960 --> 00:16:07.639
and others.
267
00:16:08.440 --> 00:16:10.120
How fair is our cousin, Hamlet?
268
00:16:10.840 --> 00:16:15.120
Excellent to faith of the chameleon's dish, I eat the air,
269
00:16:15.320 --> 00:16:17.519
promise Crams. You cannot feed Capon.
270
00:16:17.720 --> 00:16:21.720
So I have nothing with this answer, Hamlet, these words
271
00:16:21.720 --> 00:16:24.440
are not mine, No nor mine.
272
00:16:24.440 --> 00:16:29.480
Now to Polonius, my lord, you played once in the university.
273
00:16:29.519 --> 00:16:31.399
You say that did I?
274
00:16:31.639 --> 00:16:32.159
My Lord?
275
00:16:32.519 --> 00:16:34.440
I was accountant, a good actor.
276
00:16:35.159 --> 00:16:36.559
What did you enact?
277
00:16:37.240 --> 00:16:41.279
I did enact? Julius Caesar. I was killed in the capital.
278
00:16:41.879 --> 00:16:42.879
Brutus killed me.
279
00:16:43.720 --> 00:16:45.919
It was a brute part of him to kill so
280
00:16:46.120 --> 00:16:49.559
capital a calf. There be the players ready.
281
00:16:49.759 --> 00:16:52.320
Aye, my lord, they stay upon your patients.
282
00:16:52.879 --> 00:16:55.519
Come hither, my dear Hamlet, sit by me.
283
00:16:56.320 --> 00:17:01.360
No good mother. Here's metal more attractive to King Clodius.
284
00:17:01.759 --> 00:17:04.200
Ooh, who do you mark that?
285
00:17:05.039 --> 00:17:09.400
Lady? Shall I lie in your lap? No, my lord,
286
00:17:10.079 --> 00:17:13.880
I mean my head upon your lap? I my lord,
287
00:17:14.119 --> 00:17:16.200
do you think I meant country matters?
288
00:17:16.839 --> 00:17:18.640
I think nothing, my lord.
289
00:17:19.200 --> 00:17:21.599
That's a fair thought to lie between maid's legs.
290
00:17:22.160 --> 00:17:23.839
What is, my lord?
291
00:17:24.400 --> 00:17:24.759
Nothing?
292
00:17:25.240 --> 00:17:26.960
You are? Mary? My lord?
293
00:17:27.440 --> 00:17:28.920
Who I I?
294
00:17:29.440 --> 00:17:30.000
My lord?
295
00:17:30.519 --> 00:17:33.480
Oh god, you're only jig maker. What should a man
296
00:17:33.559 --> 00:17:36.480
do but be merry? For look you, how cheerfully my
297
00:17:36.599 --> 00:17:39.519
mother looks, and my father died within these two hours?
298
00:17:40.079 --> 00:17:43.240
Nay tis twice two months, my lord?
299
00:17:43.759 --> 00:17:46.720
So long? Nay, then let the devil wear black, for
300
00:17:46.839 --> 00:17:50.359
I'll have a suit of sables. Oh heavens, die two
301
00:17:50.400 --> 00:17:53.200
months ago and not forgotten yet. Then there's hope. A
302
00:17:53.240 --> 00:17:56.119
great man's memory may outlive his life half a year.
303
00:17:56.799 --> 00:18:00.559
But by your lady, he must build churches then, or
304
00:18:00.599 --> 00:18:03.319
else shall he suffer not thinking on with the hobby horse,
305
00:18:03.599 --> 00:18:07.359
whose epitaph is for O, for O, the hobby horse
306
00:18:07.519 --> 00:18:08.279
is forgot.
307
00:18:08.839 --> 00:18:14.480
Hautboy's play The Dumb Show enters enter a king and
308
00:18:14.559 --> 00:18:19.759
a queen, very lovingly, the queen embracing him and he her.
309
00:18:20.759 --> 00:18:25.680
She kneels and makes show of protestation unto him. He
310
00:18:25.799 --> 00:18:29.680
takes her up and declines his head upon her neck,
311
00:18:30.559 --> 00:18:34.880
lays him down upon a bank of flowers. She, seeing
312
00:18:34.960 --> 00:18:40.359
him asleep, leaves him. Anon comes in. A fellow, takes
313
00:18:40.400 --> 00:18:44.720
off his crown, kisses it, and pours poison in the
314
00:18:44.839 --> 00:18:50.759
king's ears and exit. The queen returns, finds the king
315
00:18:50.920 --> 00:18:56.599
dead and makes passionate action. The poisoner, with some two
316
00:18:56.799 --> 00:19:01.880
or three mutes, comes in again, seeming to lament with her.
317
00:19:02.960 --> 00:19:07.000
The dead body is carried away. The poisoner woos the
318
00:19:07.079 --> 00:19:11.440
queen with gifts. She seems loath and unwilling a while,
319
00:19:11.839 --> 00:19:14.359
but in the end accepts his love.
320
00:19:15.279 --> 00:19:19.319
Exellunt, what means this, my Lord Mary?
321
00:19:19.400 --> 00:19:21.920
This is meeching malacho, It means.
322
00:19:21.880 --> 00:19:25.799
Mischief belike this show imports the argument of the play
323
00:19:26.519 --> 00:19:27.440
enter prolog.
324
00:19:27.960 --> 00:19:31.160
We shall know by this fellow. The players cannot keep counsel.
325
00:19:31.440 --> 00:19:32.319
They'll tell all.
326
00:19:32.960 --> 00:19:35.519
Will he tell us what this show meant? I.
327
00:19:35.759 --> 00:19:37.920
Or any show that you'll show him? Be not you
328
00:19:38.000 --> 00:19:40.000
ashamed to show? He'll not shame to tell you what
329
00:19:40.079 --> 00:19:40.839
it means?
330
00:19:41.359 --> 00:19:41.920
You are not?
331
00:19:42.400 --> 00:19:44.200
You are not all.
332
00:19:44.240 --> 00:19:47.920
Mark the play for us and for our tragedy. Here
333
00:19:48.000 --> 00:19:52.119
stooping to your clemency, we beg your hearing patiently exit.
334
00:19:52.759 --> 00:19:55.039
Is this a prolog or the poesy of a ring?
335
00:19:55.720 --> 00:19:59.279
Tis brief, my Lord, as woman's love.
336
00:20:00.240 --> 00:20:05.759
Two players, King and Queen full thirty times hath Phoebus
337
00:20:05.799 --> 00:20:10.759
cart gone round, Neptune's salt wash and tell us orbid ground,
338
00:20:11.119 --> 00:20:15.720
and thirty dozen moons with borrowed sheen about the world.
339
00:20:15.799 --> 00:20:20.720
Hath Time's twelve thirty's been since love, our hearts and hymen,
340
00:20:20.960 --> 00:20:26.559
did our hands unite commutual in most sacred bands, so
341
00:20:26.759 --> 00:20:27.559
many journeys.
342
00:20:27.559 --> 00:20:30.400
May the sun and moon make us again. Count awe
343
00:20:30.559 --> 00:20:34.480
ere love be done. But woe is me. You are
344
00:20:34.559 --> 00:20:38.400
so sick of late, so far from cheer and from
345
00:20:38.440 --> 00:20:42.640
your former state, that I distrust you. Yet though I
346
00:20:42.759 --> 00:20:48.920
distrust discomfit you, my lord, it nothing must for women's
347
00:20:48.960 --> 00:20:53.920
fear and love holds quantity in neither aught nor an extremity.
348
00:20:54.920 --> 00:20:57.799
Now what my love is proof hath made you know?
349
00:20:58.720 --> 00:21:02.400
And as my love is signed, my fear is so.
350
00:21:02.519 --> 00:21:06.839
Where love is great, the littlest doubts our fear, Where
351
00:21:06.839 --> 00:21:09.759
little fears grow great great love grows.
352
00:21:09.799 --> 00:21:14.759
There faith I must leave thee love and shortly too
353
00:21:14.960 --> 00:21:19.240
my opperant powers, their functions leave to do, And thou
354
00:21:19.359 --> 00:21:25.079
shalt live in this fair world behind, honored, beloved, and
355
00:21:25.200 --> 00:21:28.559
haply one as kind for husband shalt thou.
356
00:21:28.880 --> 00:21:33.680
Oh confound the rest such love must needs be treason
357
00:21:34.039 --> 00:21:37.720
in my breast. In second husband, let me be accursed.
358
00:21:38.799 --> 00:21:42.279
None wed the second, but who killed the first?
359
00:21:42.720 --> 00:21:44.240
Wormwood? Wormwood.
360
00:21:45.000 --> 00:21:49.759
The instances that second marriage move are base respects of thrift,
361
00:21:50.200 --> 00:21:53.480
but none of love. A second time I kill my
362
00:21:53.599 --> 00:21:56.599
husband dead when second husband kisses me in bed.
363
00:21:57.359 --> 00:22:01.000
I do believe you think what now you speak, but
364
00:22:01.119 --> 00:22:05.400
what we do determine oft we break. Purpose is but
365
00:22:05.680 --> 00:22:10.680
the slave to memory of violent birth, but poor validity,
366
00:22:11.039 --> 00:22:15.119
which now like fruit unripe sticks on the tree, but
367
00:22:15.359 --> 00:22:20.839
fall unshaken when they mellow. Be most necessary tis that
368
00:22:20.960 --> 00:22:24.319
we forget to pay ourselves. What to ourselves is debt,
369
00:22:24.920 --> 00:22:29.359
what to ourselves in passion we propose the passion ending
370
00:22:29.960 --> 00:22:34.359
doth the purpose lose the violence of either grief or joy?
371
00:22:34.839 --> 00:22:40.200
Their own inactures with themselves destroy where joy most revels,
372
00:22:40.480 --> 00:22:46.880
grief doth most lament grief joys joy grieves on slender accident.
373
00:22:47.680 --> 00:22:51.240
This world is not for eye, nor tis not strange
374
00:22:51.640 --> 00:22:55.680
that even our loves should, with our fortunes change. For
375
00:22:55.839 --> 00:22:59.519
tis a question left us yet to prove, whether love
376
00:22:59.720 --> 00:23:04.799
lee fortune or else fortune love the great man down
377
00:23:05.240 --> 00:23:10.279
you mark his favorite flies. The poor advanced makes friends
378
00:23:10.279 --> 00:23:14.519
of enemies, and hitherto doth love on fortune tend. For
379
00:23:14.640 --> 00:23:18.680
who not needs shall never lack a friend, And who
380
00:23:18.799 --> 00:23:23.559
in want a hollow friend, doth try directly seasons him
381
00:23:23.720 --> 00:23:28.359
his enemy. But orderly to end where I begun, our
382
00:23:28.440 --> 00:23:33.160
wills and fates do so contrary run that our devices
383
00:23:33.279 --> 00:23:38.680
still are overthrown, our thoughts are ours. There ends none
384
00:23:38.839 --> 00:23:43.079
of our own. So think thou wilt no second husband wed,
385
00:23:43.720 --> 00:23:47.519
but die thy thoughts when thy first lord is dead.
386
00:23:48.400 --> 00:23:49.440
Nor earth to.
387
00:23:49.480 --> 00:23:53.680
Me give food, nor heaven, light, sport, and repose locke
388
00:23:53.680 --> 00:23:57.960
from me day and night to desperation. Turn my trust
389
00:23:58.000 --> 00:24:01.640
and hope an anchor's chef in prison, be my scope.
390
00:24:02.480 --> 00:24:06.960
Each opposite that blanks the face of joy, meet what
391
00:24:07.119 --> 00:24:12.799
I would have well, and it destroy both here and
392
00:24:13.000 --> 00:24:18.680
hence pursue me lasting strife. If wants a widow, ever
393
00:24:18.880 --> 00:24:20.240
I be wife.
394
00:24:20.960 --> 00:24:22.200
If she should break.
395
00:24:21.960 --> 00:24:27.960
It now tis deeply sworn. Sweet leave me here awhile
396
00:24:28.680 --> 00:24:32.680
my spirits grow dull and fain. I would beguile the
397
00:24:32.799 --> 00:24:34.920
tedious day with sleep.
398
00:24:35.279 --> 00:24:40.680
Sleep, rock thy brain, and never come mischance between us twain.
399
00:24:41.279 --> 00:24:43.200
Exit, madam?
400
00:24:43.519 --> 00:24:44.599
How like you this play?
401
00:24:45.400 --> 00:24:48.559
The lady protests too much, methinks.
402
00:24:48.599 --> 00:24:49.920
Oh, but she'll keep her word.
403
00:24:50.440 --> 00:24:53.079
Have you heard the argument? Is there? No offense?
404
00:24:53.160 --> 00:24:57.039
And no no they do but jest poison in jest,
405
00:24:57.200 --> 00:24:58.640
no offense in the world.
406
00:24:59.480 --> 00:25:00.960
What do you call the play?
407
00:25:01.599 --> 00:25:06.640
The mouse trap? Marry? How tropically this play is the
408
00:25:06.720 --> 00:25:09.400
image of a murder done in Vienna. Gonzaga is the
409
00:25:09.480 --> 00:25:12.640
Duke's name, his wife Baptista. You shall see Anon tis
410
00:25:12.680 --> 00:25:16.359
a knavish piece of work. But what of that, your majesty,
411
00:25:16.400 --> 00:25:18.359
and we that have free souls? It touches us not
412
00:25:19.000 --> 00:25:22.200
Let the galled jade WinCE. Our withers are unwrung.
413
00:25:22.759 --> 00:25:23.920
Enter Lucianus.
414
00:25:24.519 --> 00:25:27.240
This is one Lucianus, nephew to the king.
415
00:25:27.920 --> 00:25:30.119
You are as good as a chorus, my Lord.
416
00:25:30.640 --> 00:25:32.839
I could interpret between you and your love if I
417
00:25:32.880 --> 00:25:34.359
could see the puppets dallying.
418
00:25:35.000 --> 00:25:37.640
You are king, my Lord, you are keen.
419
00:25:38.200 --> 00:25:40.440
It would cost you a groaning to take off my.
420
00:25:40.599 --> 00:25:44.599
Edge still better and worse, so.
421
00:25:44.680 --> 00:25:49.400
You must take your husband's begin murderer pox, leave thy
422
00:25:49.480 --> 00:25:54.000
damnable faces, and begin come the croaking raven doth bellow
423
00:25:54.079 --> 00:25:55.440
for revenge.
424
00:25:55.400 --> 00:26:02.079
Thoughts, black hands, apt drugs, fit and time, agreeing confederate
425
00:26:02.160 --> 00:26:06.759
season else no creature seeing thou mixture rank of midnight
426
00:26:06.799 --> 00:26:13.039
weeds collected with hecate ban thrice blasted, thrice infected, thy
427
00:26:13.119 --> 00:26:16.839
natural magic and dire property on wholesome life.
428
00:26:17.240 --> 00:26:22.640
Usurp immediately pours the poison into the sleeper's ears.
429
00:26:23.279 --> 00:26:25.920
He poisons him in the garden for his estate. His
430
00:26:26.079 --> 00:26:30.000
name's Gonzago. The story is extant and written choice Italian.
431
00:26:30.400 --> 00:26:32.680
You shall see Anon. How the murderer gets the love
432
00:26:32.720 --> 00:26:38.079
of Gonzaga's wife. The king rises, what frighted with false fire?
433
00:26:38.599 --> 00:26:39.680
How fails my lord?
434
00:26:40.119 --> 00:26:41.240
Give all the play?
435
00:26:42.039 --> 00:26:45.519
Give me some light, away, light.
436
00:26:45.960 --> 00:26:51.119
Light, light, exellent all but Hamlet and Horatio.
437
00:26:51.720 --> 00:26:55.279
Why let the stricken deer go weep the heart ungalled
438
00:26:55.400 --> 00:26:58.920
play for some must watch, while some must sleep. So
439
00:26:59.200 --> 00:27:02.680
runs the world away with not this, sir, and a
440
00:27:02.720 --> 00:27:05.319
forest of feathers. If the rest of my fortunes turn
441
00:27:05.400 --> 00:27:09.119
turk with me with two provincial roses on my raised shoes,
442
00:27:09.240 --> 00:27:11.559
get me a fellowship and a cry of players. Sir,
443
00:27:12.039 --> 00:27:16.519
half a share a whole, one eye, for thou dost know, o, damon, dear,
444
00:27:16.799 --> 00:27:21.039
this realm dismantled, was of Jove himself, and now reigns
445
00:27:21.079 --> 00:27:23.920
here a very very pajock.
446
00:27:24.480 --> 00:27:26.519
You might have rhymed, Oh.
447
00:27:26.279 --> 00:27:29.960
Good, Horatio, I'll take the ghost's word for a thousand pound.
448
00:27:30.519 --> 00:27:33.400
Didst perceive very well, my lord.
449
00:27:33.680 --> 00:27:35.680
Upon the talk of the poisoning.
450
00:27:35.559 --> 00:27:37.400
I did very well, note him.
451
00:27:37.799 --> 00:27:41.079
Ah, come some music, come the recorders. For if the
452
00:27:41.160 --> 00:27:43.680
king like not the comedy, why then belike he likes
453
00:27:43.680 --> 00:27:46.319
it not? Perty Come some music re.
454
00:27:46.559 --> 00:27:49.759
Enter rosen Krantz and guildenstan.
455
00:27:49.319 --> 00:27:52.039
Good, my lord, vouchsafe me a word.
456
00:27:51.799 --> 00:27:56.720
With you, sir, A whole history the king, sir, I sir,
457
00:27:56.759 --> 00:27:57.480
what of him.
458
00:27:57.640 --> 00:28:02.079
Is in his retirement marvelous? Distempered with drink?
459
00:28:02.319 --> 00:28:02.559
Sir?
460
00:28:03.160 --> 00:28:05.640
No, my lord, rather with collar.
461
00:28:06.279 --> 00:28:08.880
Your wisdom should show itself more richer to signify this
462
00:28:08.920 --> 00:28:11.559
to his doctor, For for me to put him to
463
00:28:11.599 --> 00:28:14.920
his purgation would perhaps plunge him into far more caller.
464
00:28:15.559 --> 00:28:19.119
Good, my lord, put your discourse into some frame, and
465
00:28:19.480 --> 00:28:21.720
start not so wildly from my affair.
466
00:28:22.559 --> 00:28:24.720
I am tame, sir, pronounce.
467
00:28:24.759 --> 00:28:29.759
The queen, your mother in most great affliction of spirit
468
00:28:30.000 --> 00:28:32.079
hath sent me to you.
469
00:28:32.079 --> 00:28:34.839
You are welcome, Nay, good, my lord.
470
00:28:34.920 --> 00:28:38.559
This courtesy is not of the right breed. If it
471
00:28:38.599 --> 00:28:41.480
shall please you to make me a wholesome answer, I
472
00:28:41.519 --> 00:28:45.920
will do your mother's commandment. If not, your pardon and
473
00:28:46.200 --> 00:28:49.319
my return shall be the end of my business.
474
00:28:49.920 --> 00:28:54.400
Sir, I cannot, what, my lord, make you a wholesome answer.
475
00:28:54.960 --> 00:28:59.119
My wits diseased. But Sir, such answer as I can
476
00:28:59.200 --> 00:29:02.200
make you shall command, or rather as you say my mother?
477
00:29:02.599 --> 00:29:05.920
Therefore no more but to the matter my mother you say.
478
00:29:06.079 --> 00:29:09.400
Than thus she says, your behavior hath struck her into
479
00:29:09.440 --> 00:29:10.839
amazement and admiration.
480
00:29:11.519 --> 00:29:14.559
Oh wonderful son, that can so astonish a mother? But
481
00:29:14.680 --> 00:29:17.599
is there no sequel at the heels of this mother's admiration?
482
00:29:18.480 --> 00:29:18.920
In part?
483
00:29:19.559 --> 00:29:22.079
She desires to speak with you in our closet. Ere
484
00:29:22.119 --> 00:29:23.960
you go to bed, we shall obey.
485
00:29:24.119 --> 00:29:27.519
Were she ten times our mother? Have you any further
486
00:29:27.559 --> 00:29:28.319
trade with us?
487
00:29:28.839 --> 00:29:31.480
My lord? You once did love me, so I.
488
00:29:31.480 --> 00:29:34.960
Do still by these pickers and stealers, Good.
489
00:29:34.759 --> 00:29:37.599
My lord, what is your cause of distemper? You do
490
00:29:37.759 --> 00:29:40.400
surely bar the door upon your own liberty If you
491
00:29:40.440 --> 00:29:42.400
deny your griefs to your friend.
492
00:29:42.759 --> 00:29:44.960
Sir, I lack advancement.
493
00:29:45.599 --> 00:29:47.839
How can that be when you have the voice of
494
00:29:47.880 --> 00:29:50.839
the king himself for your succession in Denmark?
495
00:29:51.200 --> 00:29:54.359
Ay, but sir, while the grass grows the proverb is
496
00:29:54.400 --> 00:29:55.920
something musty.
497
00:29:56.400 --> 00:29:59.319
Re enter players with recorders, Oh.
498
00:29:59.279 --> 00:30:02.079
The recorders. Let me see one to withdraw with you.
499
00:30:02.799 --> 00:30:05.279
Why do you go about to recover the wind of me?
500
00:30:05.519 --> 00:30:07.519
As if you would drive me into a toil?
501
00:30:08.160 --> 00:30:12.640
Oh, my lord, if my duty be too bold, my
502
00:30:12.799 --> 00:30:15.559
love is too one mannerly.
503
00:30:15.640 --> 00:30:19.799
I do not well understand that. Will you play upon
504
00:30:19.839 --> 00:30:20.480
this pipe?
505
00:30:21.039 --> 00:30:21.599
My lord?
506
00:30:21.720 --> 00:30:26.440
I cannot I pray you believe me. I cannot I.
507
00:30:26.400 --> 00:30:27.119
Do beseech you.
508
00:30:27.720 --> 00:30:29.039
I know no touch of it?
509
00:30:29.160 --> 00:30:33.240
My lord, tis as easy as lying. Govern these vintages
510
00:30:33.240 --> 00:30:35.680
with your fingers and thumb. Give it breath with your mouth,
511
00:30:35.680 --> 00:30:39.119
and it will discourse most eloquent music. Look you, these
512
00:30:39.119 --> 00:30:39.920
are the stops.
513
00:30:40.160 --> 00:30:43.559
But these I cannot command to any utterance of harmony.
514
00:30:44.279 --> 00:30:45.480
I have not the skill.
515
00:30:45.960 --> 00:30:48.799
Why look you now, how unworthy a thing you make
516
00:30:48.839 --> 00:30:52.200
of me. You would play upon me, You would seem
517
00:30:52.240 --> 00:30:54.759
to know my stops, You would pluck out the heart
518
00:30:54.799 --> 00:30:58.039
of my mystery. You would sound me from my lowest
519
00:30:58.119 --> 00:31:00.759
note to the top of my compass. And there is
520
00:31:00.880 --> 00:31:05.480
much music, excellent voice in this little organ, Yet cannot
521
00:31:05.519 --> 00:31:09.079
you make it speak splood? Do you think I am
522
00:31:09.119 --> 00:31:12.039
easier to be played on than a pipe? Call me
523
00:31:12.119 --> 00:31:15.079
what instruments you will, though you can fret me, yet
524
00:31:15.079 --> 00:31:16.720
you cannot play upon me.
525
00:31:17.279 --> 00:31:19.680
Enter Polonius, God bless.
526
00:31:19.359 --> 00:31:22.839
You, sir, my lord the Queen would speak with you.
527
00:31:23.400 --> 00:31:27.599
And presently do you see yonder cloud that's almost in
528
00:31:27.680 --> 00:31:28.440
shape of a camel?
529
00:31:28.880 --> 00:31:31.519
Buy the mass and tis like a camel.
530
00:31:31.680 --> 00:31:34.000
Indeed, methinks it is like a weasel.
531
00:31:34.400 --> 00:31:37.759
It is backed like a weasel, or like a whale,
532
00:31:38.400 --> 00:31:40.039
very like a whale.
533
00:31:40.400 --> 00:31:42.200
Then I will come to my mother by and by
534
00:31:43.039 --> 00:31:46.000
they fool me to the top of my bent, I will.
535
00:31:45.759 --> 00:31:48.880
Come by and by I will say so.
536
00:31:49.640 --> 00:31:51.279
By and by is easily said.
537
00:31:51.720 --> 00:31:58.079
Exit Polonius, Leave me friends, excellent all, but hamlet tis.
538
00:31:57.880 --> 00:32:01.799
Now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn
539
00:32:01.920 --> 00:32:06.400
and hell itself breathes out contagion to this world. Now
540
00:32:06.440 --> 00:32:09.720
could I drink hot blood and do such bitter business
541
00:32:09.759 --> 00:32:13.839
as the day would quake? To look on soft? Now
542
00:32:13.960 --> 00:32:18.119
to my mother, O heart lose not thy nature. Let
543
00:32:18.160 --> 00:32:21.079
not ever the soul of Nero enter this firm Bosom,
544
00:32:21.960 --> 00:32:26.319
let me be cruel, not unnatural. I will speak daggers
545
00:32:26.359 --> 00:32:29.599
to her, but use none my tongue and soul in
546
00:32:29.680 --> 00:32:32.880
this be hypocrites. How in my words, soever she be
547
00:32:32.960 --> 00:32:36.400
shent to give them seals, never my soul consent.
548
00:32:37.319 --> 00:32:43.240
Exit Scene three. A room in the castle. Enter King
549
00:32:43.400 --> 00:32:46.400
Claudius Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
550
00:32:47.279 --> 00:32:50.440
I like him not, nor stand it safe with us
551
00:32:50.440 --> 00:32:55.000
to let his madness range. Therefore prepare you. I your
552
00:32:55.000 --> 00:32:58.720
commission will forthwith despatch, and he to England shall along
553
00:32:58.799 --> 00:33:01.920
with you. The terms of our estate may not endure
554
00:33:01.960 --> 00:33:05.759
hazard so dangerous as doth hourly grow out of his lunacies.
555
00:33:06.480 --> 00:33:11.759
We will ourselves provide most holy and religious fear. It
556
00:33:11.880 --> 00:33:15.920
is to keep those many, many bodies safe that live
557
00:33:16.039 --> 00:33:17.920
and feed upon your Majesty.
558
00:33:18.599 --> 00:33:21.680
The single and peculiar life is bound with all the
559
00:33:21.720 --> 00:33:24.480
strength and armor of the mind to keep itself from anoyance.
560
00:33:25.079 --> 00:33:28.279
But much more that spirit upon whose weeel depend and
561
00:33:28.400 --> 00:33:31.680
rest the lives of many. The cease of majesty dies
562
00:33:31.720 --> 00:33:35.359
not alone, but like a gulf, doth draw what's near
563
00:33:35.440 --> 00:33:38.200
it with it. It is a massy wheel fixed on
564
00:33:38.240 --> 00:33:41.559
the summit of the highest mount, to whose huge spokes
565
00:33:41.599 --> 00:33:46.400
ten thousand lesser things are mortest enjoined, which when it falls,
566
00:33:46.680 --> 00:33:52.039
each small annexment petty consequence attends the boisterous ruin. Never
567
00:33:52.079 --> 00:33:56.720
alone did the king sigh, but with general groan arm you.
568
00:33:56.920 --> 00:33:59.839
I pray you to this speedy voyage, for we will
569
00:34:00.079 --> 00:34:03.400
letters put upon this spear, which now goes too free footed.
570
00:34:03.920 --> 00:34:10.079
We will haste us exit Rosencrantz and guildenstern. Enter Polonius,
571
00:34:10.880 --> 00:34:12.199
my lord, he's.
572
00:34:12.039 --> 00:34:16.079
Going to his mother's closet behind the arras. I'll convey
573
00:34:16.199 --> 00:34:21.039
myself to hear the princess unwarrant sure takes him home.
574
00:34:21.719 --> 00:34:25.840
And as you said, and wisely was it said, tis
575
00:34:25.880 --> 00:34:29.400
meet that some more audience than a mother, since nature
576
00:34:29.440 --> 00:34:34.400
makes them partial. Should all hear the speech advantage fare
577
00:34:34.440 --> 00:34:37.440
you well, my liege. I'll call upon you ere you
578
00:34:37.559 --> 00:34:39.800
go to bed and tell you what I know.
579
00:34:40.880 --> 00:34:44.079
Thanks, dear my lord, Exit Polonius.
580
00:34:44.480 --> 00:34:49.440
Oh, my offense is rank. It smells to heaven. It
581
00:34:49.599 --> 00:34:56.280
hath the primal eldest curse upont a brother's murder. Pray,
582
00:34:56.360 --> 00:35:00.440
can I not, though inclination be as sharp as will.
583
00:35:00.840 --> 00:35:05.800
My stronger guilt defeats my strong intent, And like a
584
00:35:05.880 --> 00:35:09.559
man to double business bound, I stand in pause where
585
00:35:09.599 --> 00:35:15.400
I shall first begin, and both neglect. What if this
586
00:35:15.559 --> 00:35:19.599
cursed hand were thicker than itself with brother's blood? Is
587
00:35:19.599 --> 00:35:21.920
there not rain enough in the sweet heavens to wash
588
00:35:21.960 --> 00:35:26.320
it white as snow? Where to serves mercy? But to
589
00:35:26.400 --> 00:35:31.000
confront the visage of offense? And what's in prayer? But
590
00:35:31.159 --> 00:35:35.000
this toofold force to be forestalled? Ere we come to
591
00:35:35.119 --> 00:35:41.039
fall or pardoned, being down, then I'll look up. My
592
00:35:41.079 --> 00:35:46.199
fault is past, But oh, what form of prayer can
593
00:35:46.360 --> 00:35:53.599
serve my turn? Forgive me my foul murder? That cannot be,
594
00:35:54.599 --> 00:35:57.519
since I am still possessed of those effects for which
595
00:35:57.559 --> 00:36:04.559
I did the murder my mine, own ambition and my queen.
596
00:36:06.559 --> 00:36:11.039
May one be pardoned and retain the offense. In the
597
00:36:11.079 --> 00:36:14.840
corrupted currents of this world, Offense's gilded hand may shove
598
00:36:15.039 --> 00:36:19.800
by justice, and oft tis seen the wicked prize itself
599
00:36:19.880 --> 00:36:25.760
buys out the law, But tis not so above. There
600
00:36:25.880 --> 00:36:30.119
is no shuffling there. The action lies in his true nature,
601
00:36:31.440 --> 00:36:35.119
and we ourselves compelled even to the teeth and forehead
602
00:36:35.159 --> 00:36:42.480
of our faults to give in evidence? What then, what rests?
603
00:36:44.000 --> 00:36:44.360
Try?
604
00:36:44.519 --> 00:36:50.800
What repentance can? What can it not? Yet? What can
605
00:36:50.840 --> 00:36:58.079
it when one cannot repent? Wretched state? O bosom, black
606
00:36:58.119 --> 00:37:02.599
as death, limid soul, that struggling to be free, art
607
00:37:02.719 --> 00:37:11.119
more engaged. Help angels, make us say bow stubborn, knees
608
00:37:11.199 --> 00:37:15.000
and heart with strings of steel, be soft as sinews
609
00:37:15.039 --> 00:37:19.719
of the new born. Babe, all may be.
610
00:37:19.880 --> 00:37:25.679
Well, retires and kneels enter hamlet.
611
00:37:26.880 --> 00:37:30.559
Now might I do it? Pat Now he is praying,
612
00:37:31.000 --> 00:37:35.280
And now I'll do it. And so he goes to heaven?
613
00:37:36.440 --> 00:37:40.280
And so am I revenged that would be scanned? A
614
00:37:40.400 --> 00:37:44.679
villain kills my father, And for that I his soul's son.
615
00:37:45.400 --> 00:37:47.760
Do this same villain send to heaven?
616
00:37:49.159 --> 00:37:49.320
Oh?
617
00:37:49.360 --> 00:37:52.400
This is higher in salary, not revenge. He took my
618
00:37:52.519 --> 00:37:56.199
father grossly full of bread, with all his crimes broad
619
00:37:56.239 --> 00:37:59.719
blown as flesh as may and how his audit stands.
620
00:37:59.719 --> 00:38:03.960
Who knows save heaven. But in our circumstance and course
621
00:38:04.000 --> 00:38:07.199
of thought tis heavy with him. And am I then
622
00:38:07.280 --> 00:38:10.199
revenged to take him in the purging of his soul
623
00:38:10.320 --> 00:38:14.400
when he is fit and seasoned for his passage. No
624
00:38:15.480 --> 00:38:19.559
up sword and know thou a more horrid hent when
625
00:38:19.559 --> 00:38:22.719
he is drunk asleep, or in his rage, or in
626
00:38:22.800 --> 00:38:27.440
the incestuous pleasure of his bed, at gaming, swearing, or
627
00:38:27.480 --> 00:38:30.000
about some act that has no relish of salvation, and
628
00:38:30.679 --> 00:38:34.239
then trip him that his heels may kick at heaven,
629
00:38:34.239 --> 00:38:36.400
and that his soul may be as damned and black
630
00:38:36.440 --> 00:38:42.199
as hell. Whereto it goes. My mother stays this physic,
631
00:38:42.320 --> 00:38:44.760
but prolongs thy sickly days.
632
00:38:45.679 --> 00:38:53.159
Exit rising, My words fly up, My thoughts remain below
633
00:38:54.679 --> 00:38:57.880
words without thoughts, never to heaven go.
634
00:38:59.159 --> 00:39:07.679
Exit scene for the Queen's closet. Enter Queen Gertrude and Polonius.
635
00:39:08.400 --> 00:39:11.920
He will come straight. Look you lay home to him,
636
00:39:12.360 --> 00:39:15.239
Tell him his pranks have been too broad to bear with,
637
00:39:15.719 --> 00:39:18.800
and that your grace hath screened and stood between much
638
00:39:18.880 --> 00:39:23.679
heat in him ansconce me even here, pray you be
639
00:39:23.920 --> 00:39:24.920
round with him.
640
00:39:25.760 --> 00:39:32.199
Within Mother, Mother, Mother, I'll warrant you fear me not withdraw.
641
00:39:32.360 --> 00:39:33.079
I hear him coming.
642
00:39:33.679 --> 00:39:36.599
Polonius hides behind the arress.
643
00:39:37.320 --> 00:39:39.960
Enter Hamlet, Now, Mother, what's the matter?
644
00:39:40.599 --> 00:39:43.360
Hamlet? Thou hast thy father much offended?
645
00:39:43.960 --> 00:39:45.840
Mother, you have my father much offended?
646
00:39:46.360 --> 00:39:49.199
Come come, you answer with an idle tongue.
647
00:39:49.239 --> 00:39:51.239
Go go you question with a wicked tongue.
648
00:39:51.880 --> 00:39:53.159
Why how now hamlet?
649
00:39:53.639 --> 00:39:54.719
What's the matter? Now?
650
00:39:55.480 --> 00:39:56.519
Have you forgot me?
651
00:39:57.400 --> 00:39:59.639
No by the rude? Not so you are the queen,
652
00:39:59.679 --> 00:40:03.000
your husband's brother's wife. And when it were not so,
653
00:40:03.519 --> 00:40:04.519
you are my mother.
654
00:40:05.199 --> 00:40:07.920
Nay, then I'll set those to you that can speak.
655
00:40:08.480 --> 00:40:11.559
Come, come and sit you down. You shall not budge
656
00:40:11.639 --> 00:40:13.400
you go not till I set you up a glass
657
00:40:13.400 --> 00:40:15.280
where you may see the inmost part of you.
658
00:40:16.079 --> 00:40:21.599
What wilt thou do? Thou wilt not murder me? Help?
659
00:40:22.360 --> 00:40:24.480
Help? Who? Behind?
660
00:40:25.079 --> 00:40:25.159
What?
661
00:40:25.519 --> 00:40:26.840
Who? Help?
662
00:40:27.280 --> 00:40:30.199
Hoop wo drawing?
663
00:40:30.920 --> 00:40:33.880
How now a rat dead for a ducat dead.
664
00:40:34.199 --> 00:40:36.800
Makes a pass through the arress.
665
00:40:37.000 --> 00:40:47.480
Oo ohoooooo oh jam falls and dies?
666
00:40:48.320 --> 00:40:50.159
Oh me, what hast thou done?
667
00:40:50.920 --> 00:40:51.159
Nay?
668
00:40:51.199 --> 00:40:53.039
I know not? Is it the king?
669
00:40:53.760 --> 00:40:53.920
Oh?
670
00:40:53.920 --> 00:40:55.239
What a rash and bloody deed?
671
00:40:55.360 --> 00:40:59.360
Is this a bloody deed? Almost as bad? Good mother
672
00:40:59.440 --> 00:41:03.039
as killie king, and Mary with his brother as kill
673
00:41:03.119 --> 00:41:06.000
a king a lady. Twas my word.
674
00:41:06.239 --> 00:41:10.840
Lifts up the arrass and discovers Polonius.
675
00:41:10.360 --> 00:41:16.039
Thou wretched, rash, intruding fool. Farewell, I took thee for
676
00:41:16.079 --> 00:41:20.159
thy better take thy fortune. Thou findst to be too
677
00:41:20.199 --> 00:41:24.239
busy is some danger. Leave wringing of your hands. Peace,
678
00:41:24.400 --> 00:41:27.559
Sit you down, and let me wring your heart, For
679
00:41:27.679 --> 00:41:30.119
so I shall. If it be made of penetrable stuff,
680
00:41:30.480 --> 00:41:33.559
if damnid custom have not brast it so that it
681
00:41:33.639 --> 00:41:35.719
is proof and bulwark against sense?
682
00:41:36.519 --> 00:41:39.559
What have I done that, thou darest, wead thy tongue
683
00:41:39.559 --> 00:41:41.079
in noise so rude against me?
684
00:41:42.039 --> 00:41:45.320
Such an act that blurs the grace and blush of
685
00:41:45.360 --> 00:41:49.599
modesty calls virtue hypocrite, takes off the rose from the
686
00:41:49.639 --> 00:41:52.679
fair forehead of an innocent love and sets a blister there,
687
00:41:53.079 --> 00:41:55.880
makes marriage vows as false as dicer's oaths.
688
00:41:56.400 --> 00:41:58.119
Oh, such a deed.
689
00:41:58.079 --> 00:42:01.599
As from the body of contractions. The very soul and
690
00:42:01.760 --> 00:42:06.440
sweet religion makes a rhapsody of words. Heaven's face doth
691
00:42:06.519 --> 00:42:11.400
glow yea this solidity and compound mass with trystful visage
692
00:42:11.599 --> 00:42:14.400
as against the doom. Is thought sick at the act?
693
00:42:15.239 --> 00:42:19.199
Ah me, what act that roars so loud and thunders
694
00:42:19.239 --> 00:42:20.000
in the index?
695
00:42:20.679 --> 00:42:24.639
Look here upon this picture, and on this the counterfeit
696
00:42:24.679 --> 00:42:28.519
presentment of two brothers. See what a grace was seated
697
00:42:28.559 --> 00:42:33.000
on this brow? Hyperion's curls the front of jove himself
698
00:42:33.519 --> 00:42:37.519
an i like Mars, to threaten and command a station
699
00:42:37.800 --> 00:42:40.880
like the herald mercury new lighted on a heaven kissing hill,
700
00:42:41.639 --> 00:42:45.119
a combination and a form, indeed where every god did
701
00:42:45.119 --> 00:42:47.920
seem to set his seal to give the world assurance
702
00:42:47.960 --> 00:42:53.079
of a man. This was your husband. Look you now?
703
00:42:53.079 --> 00:42:58.199
What follows here is your husband like a mildewed ear
704
00:42:58.400 --> 00:43:03.119
blasting his wholesome brother. Have you eyes? Could you, on
705
00:43:03.199 --> 00:43:06.440
this fair mountain leave to feed and batten on this moor?
706
00:43:07.199 --> 00:43:07.400
Ha?
707
00:43:07.719 --> 00:43:11.679
Have you eyes? You cannot call it love? For at
708
00:43:11.719 --> 00:43:14.239
your age the heyday in the blood is taying its
709
00:43:14.320 --> 00:43:18.000
humble and weights upon the judgment. And what judgment would
710
00:43:18.000 --> 00:43:22.719
step from this? To this sense? Sure you have else?
711
00:43:22.760 --> 00:43:23.920
Could you not have motion?
712
00:43:24.599 --> 00:43:25.360
But sure that.
713
00:43:25.360 --> 00:43:29.519
Sense is apoplexed? For madness would not err nor sense
714
00:43:29.599 --> 00:43:32.199
to ecstasy was ne'er so thralled. But it reserved some
715
00:43:32.519 --> 00:43:36.280
quantity of choice to serve in such a difference. What
716
00:43:36.519 --> 00:43:40.079
devil wast that thus hath cousined you at hoodman blind
717
00:43:40.840 --> 00:43:45.840
eyes without feeling, feeling without sight, ears without hands, or eyes,
718
00:43:46.239 --> 00:43:49.719
smelling sands all or but a sickly part of one
719
00:43:49.840 --> 00:43:54.000
true sense could not so mope, Oh shame, where is
720
00:43:54.039 --> 00:43:58.239
thy blush rebellious hell, If thou canst mutine in a
721
00:43:58.239 --> 00:44:01.920
matron's bones to flame, youth, let virtue be as wax
722
00:44:01.960 --> 00:44:05.840
and melt in her own fire. Proclaim no shame when
723
00:44:05.880 --> 00:44:09.400
the compulsive ardor gives the charge, since frost itself is
724
00:44:09.480 --> 00:44:12.719
actively doth burn and reason panders will.
725
00:44:13.320 --> 00:44:17.559
Oh, Hamlet, speak no more. Thou turnest mine eyes into
726
00:44:17.599 --> 00:44:21.320
my very soul, and there I see such black and
727
00:44:21.480 --> 00:44:24.559
great spots as will not leave their tinked.
728
00:44:25.000 --> 00:44:27.639
Nay, but to live in the ranks sweat of an
729
00:44:27.639 --> 00:44:33.519
inseamid bed, stewed in corruption, honeying and making love over
730
00:44:33.559 --> 00:44:35.119
the nasty sty.
731
00:44:35.960 --> 00:44:39.880
Oh, speak to me no more, these words like daggers
732
00:44:40.039 --> 00:44:43.800
enter in mine ears no more, Sweet Hamlet.
733
00:44:44.320 --> 00:44:46.880
A murderer and a villain, a slave that is not
734
00:44:47.039 --> 00:44:50.280
twentieth part the tithe of your precedent lord, a vice
735
00:44:50.360 --> 00:44:53.119
of kings, a cutpurse of the empire, and the rule
736
00:44:53.159 --> 00:44:56.280
that from a shelf the precious diadem stole and put
737
00:44:56.320 --> 00:45:01.280
it in his pocket no more, a king of shreds
738
00:45:01.280 --> 00:45:07.079
and patches. Enter ghost, save me and hover o'er me
739
00:45:07.159 --> 00:45:11.400
with your wings, you heavenly guards, what would your gracious figure,
740
00:45:12.119 --> 00:45:16.440
Alas he's mad? Do not you come, your tardy son,
741
00:45:16.519 --> 00:45:20.239
to chide that lapsed in time and passion. Let's go
742
00:45:20.320 --> 00:45:22.760
by the important acting of your dread command.
743
00:45:23.559 --> 00:45:29.360
Oh say, do not forget this visitation is but to
744
00:45:29.440 --> 00:45:35.480
wet thy almost blunted purpose. But look amazement on thy
745
00:45:35.599 --> 00:45:40.519
mother sits. Oh, step between her and her fighting soul,
746
00:45:41.079 --> 00:45:48.440
conceit in weakest bodies, strongest works, Speak to her, hamlet, how.
747
00:45:48.320 --> 00:45:49.440
Is it with you, lady?
748
00:45:50.400 --> 00:45:53.800
Alas? How is it with you that you do bend
749
00:45:53.840 --> 00:45:57.559
your eye on vacancy and with the incorporal air du
750
00:45:57.599 --> 00:46:03.119
hold discourse fourth at your eyes, your spirits wildly peep,
751
00:46:04.159 --> 00:46:07.920
and as the sleeping soldiers in the alarm, your bedded
752
00:46:07.960 --> 00:46:13.239
hair like life and excrements starts up and stands on end, O,
753
00:46:13.440 --> 00:46:17.039
gentle son, upon the heat and flame of thy distemper,
754
00:46:17.360 --> 00:46:22.119
sprinkle cool patience. Where on do you look on him?
755
00:46:23.239 --> 00:46:28.000
On him, look you how pale he glares? His form
756
00:46:28.079 --> 00:46:31.599
and cause conjoined. Preaching to stones would make them capable.
757
00:46:32.800 --> 00:46:36.159
Do not look upon me, lest with this piteous action
758
00:46:36.280 --> 00:46:39.719
you convert my stern effects. Then what I have to
759
00:46:39.760 --> 00:46:43.639
do will want true color tears? Perchance for blood.
760
00:46:44.280 --> 00:46:45.480
To whom do you speak this?
761
00:46:46.239 --> 00:46:47.519
Do you see nothing there?
762
00:46:48.199 --> 00:46:52.480
Nothing at all? Yet all that is I see?
763
00:46:52.719 --> 00:46:53.800
Nor did you nothing hear?
764
00:46:54.679 --> 00:46:56.719
No nothing but ourselves.
765
00:46:57.360 --> 00:47:00.159
Why look you there, Look how it steals away my
766
00:47:00.320 --> 00:47:03.599
father in his habit as he lived. Look where he
767
00:47:03.639 --> 00:47:05.119
goes even now out at.
768
00:47:05.000 --> 00:47:07.360
The portal exit ghost.
769
00:47:08.119 --> 00:47:12.639
This the very coinage of your brain, this bodyless creation.
770
00:47:13.280 --> 00:47:14.760
Ecstasy is very cunning.
771
00:47:14.800 --> 00:47:19.920
In ecstasy, my pulse, as yours, doth temperately keep time
772
00:47:20.400 --> 00:47:24.079
and makes as healthful music. It is not madness that
773
00:47:24.199 --> 00:47:26.840
I have uttered, bring me to the test, and I
774
00:47:26.960 --> 00:47:31.039
the matter will re word, which madness would gambol from mother.
775
00:47:31.400 --> 00:47:34.840
For love of grace, Lay not that mattering unction to
776
00:47:34.920 --> 00:47:38.199
your soul. That not your trespass, but my madness speaks
777
00:47:38.760 --> 00:47:41.760
it will but skin and film the ulcerous place, whilst
778
00:47:42.119 --> 00:47:47.880
rank corruption, mining all within effects unseen. Confess yourself to Heaven,
779
00:47:48.559 --> 00:47:52.360
Repent what's past, avoid what is to come, and do
780
00:47:52.480 --> 00:47:55.079
not spread the compost on the weeds to make them Rancor.
781
00:47:56.199 --> 00:47:59.280
Forgive me this my virtue, For in the fatness of
782
00:47:59.320 --> 00:48:03.079
these percy tess virtue itself of vice must pardon beg
783
00:48:03.639 --> 00:48:06.199
yea curb and woo for leave to do him good.
784
00:48:07.000 --> 00:48:10.320
Oh hamlet thou hast cleft my heart in twain.
785
00:48:10.719 --> 00:48:13.840
Oh throw away the worser part of it, and live
786
00:48:14.000 --> 00:48:18.159
the purer with the other half. Good Night, But go
787
00:48:18.320 --> 00:48:21.400
not to mine uncle's bed. Assume a virtue if you
788
00:48:21.480 --> 00:48:25.119
have it. Not that monster custom who all sense doth
789
00:48:25.159 --> 00:48:28.719
eat of Habit's devil is angel. Yet in this that
790
00:48:28.840 --> 00:48:31.920
to the use of actions fair and good, He likewise
791
00:48:31.960 --> 00:48:34.440
gives a frock or livery that aptly is put on
792
00:48:35.639 --> 00:48:38.880
refrain to night, and that shall lend a kind of
793
00:48:38.960 --> 00:48:43.320
easiness to the next abstinence, the next more easy for
794
00:48:43.519 --> 00:48:46.800
use almost can change the stamp of nature, and either
795
00:48:46.840 --> 00:48:49.880
shame the devil or throw him out with wondrous potency.
796
00:48:50.840 --> 00:48:54.599
Once more. Good Night, And when you are desirous to
797
00:48:54.599 --> 00:48:59.159
be blest, I'll blessing beg of you for this same.
798
00:48:59.000 --> 00:49:02.280
Lord, pointing to Polonius.
799
00:49:02.239 --> 00:49:05.559
I do repent, But Heaven hath pleased it so to
800
00:49:05.639 --> 00:49:08.280
punish me with this, and this with me, that I
801
00:49:08.360 --> 00:49:12.039
must be their scourge and minister I will bestow him
802
00:49:12.400 --> 00:49:16.000
and will answer well the death I gave him. So again,
803
00:49:16.119 --> 00:49:19.559
good night, I must be cruel only to be kind.
804
00:49:20.280 --> 00:49:25.320
Thus bad begins and worse remains behind one word. More, good, lady,
805
00:49:25.960 --> 00:49:28.960
what shall I do? Not this by no means that
806
00:49:29.000 --> 00:49:32.039
I bid you do. Let the bloat king tempt you
807
00:49:32.079 --> 00:49:35.400
again to bed, pinch wanton on your cheek, call you
808
00:49:35.519 --> 00:49:38.880
his mouse, and let him for a pair of reechy kisses,
809
00:49:39.000 --> 00:49:41.960
or paddling in your neck with his damned fingers. Make
810
00:49:42.039 --> 00:49:45.840
you to ravel all this matter out, that I essentially
811
00:49:45.880 --> 00:49:49.719
am not in madness, but mad in craft tware. Good
812
00:49:49.719 --> 00:49:52.360
you let him know for who that's but a queen
813
00:49:52.840 --> 00:49:56.480
fair sober wise would from a paddock, from a bat
814
00:49:56.559 --> 00:50:01.039
a GiB such dear concerning's hide, who would do so? No,
815
00:50:01.800 --> 00:50:05.000
in despite of sense and secrecy, unpeg the basket on
816
00:50:05.079 --> 00:50:08.159
the house's top, Let the birds fly, and like the
817
00:50:08.159 --> 00:50:11.920
famous ape to try conclusions in the basket, creep and
818
00:50:12.079 --> 00:50:13.639
break your own neck down.
819
00:50:14.400 --> 00:50:18.039
Be thou assured if words be made of breath and
820
00:50:18.239 --> 00:50:21.800
breath of life, I have no life to breathe what
821
00:50:21.960 --> 00:50:23.079
thou hast said to.
822
00:50:23.000 --> 00:50:25.000
Me, I must to England.
823
00:50:25.679 --> 00:50:29.920
You know that a lack I had forgot tis so
824
00:50:30.039 --> 00:50:30.760
concluded on.
825
00:50:31.559 --> 00:50:35.639
Bear's letters sealed, and my two schoolfellows, whom I will
826
00:50:35.679 --> 00:50:39.360
trust as I will adders fanged. They bear the mandate.
827
00:50:40.000 --> 00:50:43.159
They must sweep my way and marshal me to knavery.
828
00:50:44.280 --> 00:50:46.920
Let it work. For tis the sport to have the
829
00:50:47.000 --> 00:50:50.360
engineer hoist with his own petard, and shall go hard.
830
00:50:50.360 --> 00:50:52.880
But I will delve one yard below their mines and
831
00:50:53.039 --> 00:50:56.440
blow them at the moon. O tis most sweet when
832
00:50:56.480 --> 00:51:00.599
in one line two crafts directly meet. This man shall
833
00:51:00.599 --> 00:51:05.079
set me packing. I'll lug the guts into the neighbor room. Mother,
834
00:51:05.239 --> 00:51:10.400
good night. Indeed this counselor is now most still, most secret,
835
00:51:10.440 --> 00:51:15.760
and most grave, who was in life a foolish, prating knave. Come, sir,
836
00:51:16.000 --> 00:51:19.360
to draw toward an end with you, good night.
837
00:51:19.320 --> 00:51:27.079
Mother, excellent. Severally Hamlet dragging in Polonius, end of Act
838
00:51:27.280 --> 00:51:37.440
three
