Mick Strawn and Kurt Thomas
The Dream Warrior Review Podcast
In our nearly amazing show we review movies, generally focusing on horror and sci-fi. Yet you never know what we might decide to review as we don't "stick to the script". Mick Strawn also tells some pretty darn amazing stories of his time in Hollywood. Kurt is just a smart feller who knows about movies and adds some good flavor to this show - a tasty pastry of podcast fun. Sometimes Kurt will tell stories as well...but don't count on them to be as interesting as Micks.
- Who are our listeners? - Wait, we have listeners?
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Well...When a mommy podcast and a daddy podcast like each other very much...But seriously, Kurt Thomas and his family were moving into a house. Little did he know that it was owned by the son of Mick Strawn. One day Mick came in fix the AC (as his son generally sent Mick over to do his dirty work). When Mick was over there tinkering away, he noticed Kurt's movie posters on the wall. Mick lit up like a fireball and started telling stories. After bonding over the movie Metropolis and the Hercules TV Series, Mick invited Kurt to a movie sometime. After seeing the movie Mick and Kurt were blabbering on and they noticed, not only how amazing they sounded...but how they needed to share their passion of film with the world. Or rather, it sounded like a bad podcast. So they rushed to make the newly formed podcast dream a reality (like the next week). They are still working on making a decent podcast, graduating from bad. The are nearly decent. You be the judge.
► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
One can make money from this?! Do Tell!
We are currently, and unintentionally (we might add), a nonprofit institution with a burning desire to be more, how do you say in zee engless...profitable?
► What do you gain from podcasting?
Mick digs the exposure. But he is thinking of wearing clothes more often in the coming year.
Mick is an attention wh....seeker. Actually you will find he always has something interesting to offer as he has wormed his way back into filmmaking and writing books (shameless plug"Behind the Screams: The Dream Masters Revealed").
Kurt likes the exposure of his brain to the world (figuratively, not literally). He also is always begging to be put to work on a film (Mr. Spielberg are you paying attention). He has been happy to get some action so to speak and is eager to get more (actually can be a bit annoying about it, but boy is he talented).
► How does your podcasting process look like?
Mick would say it's "Seppuku" or more accurately an intestinal blockage committing seppuku.
Kurt would say it's more like a fine pasta with layers of red sauce and the tasty cheese on top is the great entertainment you get from the show.
► How do you market your show?
That is what we keep asking! Our dictionary is missing that page...what is "marketing"? We need an intern who knows everything that is willing to work for free...or at best an occasional cup of coffee.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Mick: "The last person I advised on anything burst immediately into flames. So, always check the status of your fire extinguishers?"
Kurt: "Uh...ask me later".
► Where can we learn more about you & your podcasts?
Mick "I'm Mick Strawn and I approve this message"
Kurt "Just look us up and give us a shout...especially if you desire to give us money for our efforts".
