ABOUT THIS EPISODE
Sophie Taeuber-Arp (1889–1943). The oeuvre of Sophie Taeuber ranges from textile, costume and interior design to painting, drawing, works on paper and sculpture. Together with her husband Hans (Jean) Arp, she was commissioned to refurbish the Aubette complex in the centre of Strasbourg. Her Bar Aubette is widely regarded, along with Fritz Glarner’s “Rockefeller Dining Room,” as one of the most important Constructivist interior designs – a closely woven combination of painting, architec- ture, art, and everyday life.
