TRANSCRIPT 🔗
00:00:01.302 --> 00:00:10.960
Hi, I'm Brian Sampson, founder of Plug Technologies, and, in addition to hosting the Nearshore Cafe podcast, I work with a lot of customers.
00:00:10.960 --> 00:00:24.096
I want to share a success story of a fast-growing Series A tech company in Atlanta that raised a huge round, much bigger than most Series A.
00:00:24.096 --> 00:00:30.589
This one was over $50 million and they had budget to work with.
00:00:30.589 --> 00:00:45.567
They probably could have hired anywhere, but this particular VP of engineering that we were working with had worked with talent all over the world and was already open to working with Latin America, so they had the funds.
00:00:45.567 --> 00:00:48.829
It wasn't even a matter of budget.
00:00:48.829 --> 00:00:52.970
They wanted access to the best talent that they could find.
00:00:53.261 --> 00:01:05.468
Now this happened in 2022, when there was an arms race for talent and companies couldn't get engineers.
00:01:05.468 --> 00:01:07.394
They had massive recruiting teams.
00:01:07.394 --> 00:01:09.304
Door scene was arduous.
00:01:09.304 --> 00:01:11.992
Every engineer had seven other offers.
00:01:11.992 --> 00:01:36.983
So, rather than get into this arms race with Google and Meta and Amazon, we helped them understand the dynamics of Latin America, where, even though wages were going up there too, not nearly at the rate of the US and these hot tech markets, we introduced this VP of engineering to engineers from Brazil and Argentina.
00:01:36.983 --> 00:01:43.275
These were full stack developers that experienced with React JavaScript.
00:01:43.275 --> 00:01:59.088
With React JavaScript, really strong, savvy, creative thinkers, problem solvers and time and time again, this VP of engineering sung their praises, as I almost forgot that they were in Latin America.
00:01:59.088 --> 00:02:02.418
They moved our product forward, they were able to hit their milestones.
00:02:02.418 --> 00:02:06.807
All their code was clean, high quality, and I like them as people.
00:02:06.807 --> 00:02:08.050
They fit right into the team.
00:02:08.050 --> 00:02:15.330
They were on Slack daily standups all the things you'd expect from high quality senior developers.
00:02:15.330 --> 00:02:19.991
So we're very proud to call this customer a reference account for Plug.
