WEBVTT
00:00:03.975 -->
00:00:10.053Well, hello, my valued listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Living in Your Power.
00:00:10.831 -->
00:00:14.987I'm your host, Dr. Marlene Greenleaf, and I'm just grateful that you have chosen
00:00:14.987 -->
00:00:17.135to spend this time with me today.
00:00:18.587 -->
00:00:26.267Now, as we continue our July theme, Living Free, Walking Daily in Purpose and Peace,
00:00:27.102 -->
00:00:32.057Today, today we are talking about something that has become one of the greatest
00:00:32.057 -->
00:00:36.837lessons in my own journey And that's peace,
00:00:39.299 -->
00:00:45.435Not peace because life is perfect Not peace because every problem has been solved,
00:00:46.253 -->
00:00:48.645But peace that remains steady,
00:00:49.272 -->
00:00:57.236even when life isn't So today's episode, the second in our July series, is titled,
00:00:57.921 -->
00:01:00.613Choosing Peace Every Day.
00:01:04.498 -->
00:01:10.541When we think about peace, we often imagine calm surroundings,
00:01:11.487 -->
00:01:17.228like a quiet morning, a beautiful sunset, time away from responsibilities.
00:01:18.575 -->
00:01:25.953And while those moments are certainly peaceful, real peace isn't dependent upon our environment.
00:01:26.986 -->
00:01:32.983Because life doesn't always give us calm circumstances, there will be deadlines,
00:01:33.308 -->
00:01:38.912unexpected phone calls, health challenges, family responsibilities,
00:01:38.912 -->
00:01:40.773and moments of uncertainty.
00:01:41.708 -->
00:01:46.764And if our peace depends on everything around us being settled,
00:01:47.611 -->
00:01:51.791we'll spend most of our lives waiting for peace instead of living in it.
00:01:54.490 -->
00:02:00.992Now I've learned that peace is less about what's happening around me And more
00:02:00.992 -->
00:02:03.974about what's happening within me,
00:02:05.820 -->
00:02:10.244It's a posture of trust A decision to remain grounded It's,
00:02:12.130 -->
00:02:18.313a daily choice to believe that even when I don't understand everything God is still leading the way.
00:02:22.155 -->
00:02:26.804Our scripture today comes from Isaiah 26.3, New King James Version.
00:02:27.727 -->
00:02:35.320And it says, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee,
00:02:36.150 -->
00:02:41.816because he trusted in thee." Perfect peace.
00:02:42.902 -->
00:02:44.370What a beautiful promise.
00:02:46.280 -->
00:02:51.197But notice that peace is connected to where our minds remain.
00:02:51.911 -->
00:02:55.078It says, whose mind is stayed on thee.
00:02:56.680 -->
00:03:00.442So our minds can easily become occupied with worry.
00:03:01.649 -->
00:03:07.443I mean, with what might happen, with what someone said, with things beyond our control.
00:03:07.745 -->
00:03:13.021Yet, this scripture gently reminds us to redirect our focus.
00:03:14.229 -->
00:03:19.221Not because the challenges disappear, of course not. Challenges will always be there.
00:03:20.376 -->
00:03:27.004But because our trust becomes greater than our fear And the more we anchor our
00:03:27.004 -->
00:03:32.724hearts in God's presence The less we are controlled by life's uncertainties.
00:03:35.156 -->
00:03:41.071One of the greatest lessons I've learned Is that peace must be protected,
00:03:42.319 -->
00:03:48.204Not every conversation, dear listeners, deserves your energy And not every disagreement
00:03:48.204 -->
00:03:50.243requires your response.
00:03:50.934 -->
00:03:54.421Not every opportunity deserves your yes.
00:03:55.518 -->
00:04:01.010Sometimes protecting your peace means creating healthy boundaries.
00:04:02.090 -->
00:04:05.956Sometimes it means stepping away from unnecessary conflict.
00:04:07.070 -->
00:04:12.388And sometimes it means choosing silence over the need to prove a point.
00:04:13.973 -->
00:04:20.944And sometimes it simply means taking a deep breath before reacting.
00:04:23.401 -->
00:04:30.965Peace doesn't make us passive. Peace instead helps us to respond wisely.
00:04:31.696 -->
00:04:36.073It gives us the clarity to live with grace instead of emotion.
00:04:37.025 -->
00:04:44.037To choose understanding over assumption. And to remain steady when everything
00:04:44.037 -->
00:04:46.574around us feels uncertain.
00:04:50.098 -->
00:04:56.314So let's return to the day's promise. where it says, thou will keep him in perfect peace.
00:04:56.929 -->
00:05:02.972Not temporary peace, not occasional peace, but perfect peace.
00:05:03.344 -->
00:05:05.817A peace that is rooted in trust.
00:05:06.560 -->
00:05:10.507So, let's take a few moments this week and reflect.
00:05:12.841 -->
00:05:17.253It says, what has been competing for my peace lately?
00:05:18.820 -->
00:05:23.574Am I focusing more on my circumstances or on God's promises?
00:05:24.793 -->
00:05:28.961What boundary might I need to establish to protect my peace?
00:05:29.809 -->
00:05:33.959And what daily practice can help me remain grounded?
00:05:35.573 -->
00:05:37.965I'm going to repeat those again as always.
00:05:39.689 -->
00:05:47.288Take a few moments this week and reflect on these prompts. what has been competing for my peace lately?
00:05:48.872 -->
00:05:53.747Am I focusing more on my circumstances or on God's promises?
00:05:54.653 -->
00:05:58.618What boundary might I need to establish to protect my peace?
00:06:00.133 -->
00:06:04.574And what daily practice helps me to remain grounded?
00:06:06.060 -->
00:06:10.558Remember, peace isn't something you stumble upon.
00:06:11.731 -->
00:06:15.510It is something you intentionally choose.
00:06:17.577 -->
00:06:25.297So my dear listeners, in closing, I want you to remember that peace is one of God's greatest gifts.
00:06:26.168 -->
00:06:30.115And every day you have the opportunity to choose it.
00:06:30.673 -->
00:06:38.150Not because life is always easy, of course not. But because you trust the one who walks beside you.
00:06:39.636 -->
00:06:46.044As you move through this week, I want to encourage you to protect your peace. Guard your heart.
00:06:46.735 -->
00:06:53.953Stay rooted in what matters most and remember true freedom is of sounding to
00:06:53.953 -->
00:07:00.398truly everything around you it's found in remaining peaceful within,
00:07:02.023 -->
00:07:06.673that's why I've chosen for this week this is my birthday week my birthday is
00:07:06.673 -->
00:07:13.761actually on Thursday and I have chosen to protect my peace and my phrase going,
00:07:14.231 -->
00:07:16.600through this week It's not today.
00:07:17.499 -->
00:07:27.629Not today. Why? Because I am choosing to protect my peace in this season, my birthday season.
00:07:29.742 -->
00:07:34.903So I want to thank you for joining me for episode 2 of our July series,
00:07:35.286 -->
00:07:38.438Living Free, Walking Daily in Purpose and Peace.
00:07:39.042 -->
00:07:42.101I mean, next week, we'll continue our journey, of course.
00:07:43.256 -->
00:07:48.787And the title will be Free to Forgive, Free to Grow.
00:07:49.983 -->
00:07:57.227So until next time, dear listeners, I want you to continue to live boldly in your power today.
00:07:58.092 -->
