WEBVTT
00:00:02.197 -->
00:00:09.497Well, hello, my valued listeners, and welcome to a brand new month of living in your power.
00:00:10.297 -->
00:00:16.017I'm your host, Dr. Marlene Greenleaf, and I am so grateful that you've chosen
00:00:16.017 -->
00:00:17.917to spend this time with me today.
00:00:19.597 -->
00:00:25.077As we step into the month of June, we also step into a new season,
00:00:25.337 -->
00:00:30.337because today marks It's not only the beginning of a new month,
00:00:30.597 -->
00:00:34.137but also the beginning of meteorological summer,
00:00:35.057 -->
00:00:40.137a season often associated with growth, warmth, and flourishing.
00:00:40.457 -->
00:00:46.217And perhaps that's exactly what many of us are longing for right now.
00:00:46.497 -->
00:00:53.997To grow, to bloom, to become more fully who we were created to be.
00:00:53.997 -->
00:00:57.677So this month our
00:00:57.677 -->
00:01:06.737theme is freedom to flourish growing into what god has planted because flourishing
00:01:06.737 -->
00:01:12.937doesn't happen by accident it begins with understanding that where you are planted
00:01:12.937 -->
00:01:17.637matters and more importantly who planted you.
00:01:19.493 -->
00:01:27.853So today's episode, the first in our June series, is entitled, Planted with Purpose.
00:01:28.893 -->
00:01:30.473So let's dive in.
00:01:31.993 -->
00:01:38.013Have you ever looked at someone else's life and wondered if you were behind?
00:01:39.713 -->
00:01:45.613Honestly, I think we all have. I mean, have you wondered if you missed an opportunity?
00:01:46.433 -->
00:01:50.233Wondered if perhaps you should be somewhere else by now?
00:01:51.033 -->
00:01:56.993Yeah, I think most of us have. And there are seasons when we question our timing.
00:01:57.813 -->
00:02:02.813We question our path. We question whether we're in the right place.
00:02:03.193 -->
00:02:10.133And when growth feels slow, it's easy to believe that being planted is the same as being stuck.
00:02:12.264 -->
00:02:17.564But they're not the same thing. Being stuck feels hopeless.
00:02:18.504 -->
00:02:25.464Being planted means something is developing beneath the surface. Roots are forming.
00:02:26.404 -->
00:02:32.824Strength is being established. Something is growing even if you can't see it yet.
00:02:33.544 -->
00:02:42.724And sometimes the very place we tempted to leave is the place where God is doing his deepest work.
00:02:46.484 -->
00:02:51.984In Jeremiah 17 verses 7 through 8 in the New King James Version,
00:02:52.344 -->
00:02:59.464it says, Blessed is the man that trusted in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord.
00:02:59.824 -->
00:03:03.464For he shall be as a tree planted
00:03:03.464 -->
00:03:09.984by the waters and that spread it out her roots by the river and shall not see
00:03:09.984 -->
00:03:18.264when heat cometh but her leaf shall be green and shall not be careful in the
00:03:18.264 -->
00:03:22.664year of drought neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
00:03:24.684 -->
00:03:31.024Now what stands out to me in this scripture is that the tree experiences the
00:03:31.024 -->
00:03:33.444same conditions as every other tree.
00:03:34.664 -->
00:03:44.424The heat comes, the drought comes, the challenges come, but the tree continues to flourish. Why?
00:03:45.584 -->
00:03:48.284Because of the way its roots are connected.
00:03:49.644 -->
00:03:56.604Its strength isn't determined by its circumstances. Its strength is determined by its source.
00:03:56.604 -->
00:04:00.544And that is such an important reminder, dear listeners,
00:04:01.224 -->
00:04:08.564because we often spend so much time trying to change our circumstances that
00:04:08.564 -->
00:04:11.684we neglect our connection to the one who sustains it.
00:04:15.262 -->
00:04:22.542One of the most fascinating things about growth is that it often begins where no one can see it.
00:04:23.302 -->
00:04:28.162I mean, before a tree grows upward, it grows downward first.
00:04:28.682 -->
00:04:32.842And before the fruit appears, the root deepens.
00:04:33.262 -->
00:04:36.662And before the harvest comes, the seed develops.
00:04:37.002 -->
00:04:45.902And the same is true in our lives. because some of the most important growth seasons are invisible.
00:04:47.982 -->
00:04:54.942They are the seasons where character is being formed, where fate is being strengthened,
00:04:55.562 -->
00:05:02.122where wisdom is being developed, and where patience is being cultivated.
00:05:03.402 -->
00:05:10.822These seasons rarely receive applause, but they prepare us for everything that comes next.
00:05:12.062 -->
00:05:19.222And if we're not careful, we'll dismiss these quiet seasons because they don't look impressive.
00:05:20.062 -->
00:05:25.682Yet these are often the very seasons that make flourishing possible.
00:05:29.459 -->
00:05:33.599Now let's return to the image of the tree planted by the water.
00:05:34.699 -->
00:05:39.019It was not striving, it was not chasing, not comparing.
00:05:39.319 -->
00:05:45.079It was just simply rooted, connected, growing, and trusting.
00:05:47.979 -->
00:05:53.399So now your empowerment prompt for this week. I want you to take a few minutes
00:05:53.399 -->
00:05:55.719to reflect on these questions.
00:05:56.999 -->
00:06:00.799Where has God planted me in this season?
00:06:02.299 -->
00:06:06.419Am I viewing this season as stuck or planted?
00:06:07.279 -->
00:06:11.859What roots might God be strengthened beneath the surface?
00:06:13.439 -->
00:06:17.799And how can I deepen my connection to the source of my strength?
00:06:20.559 -->
00:06:29.919I'll repeat those for you. Take a few moments to speak to reflect on these four prompts.
00:06:31.959 -->
00:06:36.379Where has God planted me in this season?
00:06:37.819 -->
00:06:43.639Am I viewing this season as being stuck or being planted?
00:06:45.539 -->
00:06:50.199What roots might God be strengthened beneath the surface?
00:06:51.119 -->
00:06:55.779And how can I deepen my connection to the source of my strength.
00:06:57.479 -->
00:07:04.759I want you to remember that growth is not always visible, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
00:07:08.384 -->
00:07:14.804So in closing, my dear listeners, I want you to know that you were not planted by accident.
00:07:15.404 -->
00:07:22.484No, absolutely not. Your experiences, your gifts, your journey,
00:07:22.884 -->
00:07:27.804even this season you're walking through right now, none of it is wasted.
00:07:28.924 -->
00:07:31.304Trust the roots that are being formed.
00:07:32.584 -->
00:07:37.944Trust the process that is unfolding. and trust that what God has planted,
00:07:38.284 -->
00:07:41.084He is fully capable of sustaining.
00:07:42.964 -->
00:07:48.644So I want to thank you for joining me for this first episode in our June series,
00:07:48.944 -->
00:07:53.404Freedom to Flourish, Growing into What God Has Planted.
00:07:54.444 -->
00:07:59.744Next week, we will continue the conversation with pruning for growth.
00:08:00.704 -->
00:08:06.644So until next time dear listeners I want you to continue to live boldly in your
00:08:06.644 -->
00:08:12.324power today And if it gets tough Just breathe,
00:08:14.484 -->
00:08:26.144You've still got the strength to rise So I'll see you next time And continue to live in your power.
