WEBVTT
00:00:02.588 -->
00:00:09.119Well, hello my valued listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Living in Your Power.
00:00:09.786 -->
00:00:13.947I'm your host, Dr. Marlene Greenleaf, and I'm so grateful that you've chosen
00:00:13.947 -->
00:00:16.334to spend this time with me today.
00:00:17.803 -->
00:00:25.895Now, as we continue our June theme, Freedom to Flourish, Growing into What God Has Planted,
00:00:26.940 -->
00:00:31.439We've spent the month reflecting on being planted with purpose,
00:00:32.077 -->
00:00:36.658embracing pruning, and learning to bloom where we are.
00:00:38.027 -->
00:00:46.346But today, today we're talking about a season that can test our patience more than any other.
00:00:47.275 -->
00:00:51.158That is the season when growth feels slow.
00:00:51.983 -->
00:00:59.348And today's episode, the fourth in our journal series, is titled, When Growth Feels Slow.
00:01:00.822 -->
00:01:01.890So let's dive in.
00:01:04.810 -->
00:01:08.548Now, let's be honest. Most of us like progress.
00:01:09.471 -->
00:01:13.477We like seeing movement. We like checking things off the list.
00:01:13.756 -->
00:01:17.471We like evidence that our efforts are producing results.
00:01:18.963 -->
00:01:22.480But growth doesn't always happen on our timeline.
00:01:23.479 -->
00:01:26.590Sometimes we're doing all the right things.
00:01:27.380 -->
00:01:31.914We're praying, we're showing up, we're learning, we're growing.
00:01:32.303 -->
00:01:35.919And yet, nothing seems to be changing.
00:01:36.703 -->
00:01:38.224At least not on the surface.
00:01:39.663 -->
00:01:43.942And those are the moments when discouragement can begin to creep in.
00:01:44.853 -->
00:01:50.387We start questioning ourselves. questioning our path, questioning whether the
00:01:50.387 -->
00:01:54.135work we're doing is making any difference at all.
00:01:56.654 -->
00:01:58.349Does that sound familiar to you?
00:02:00.567 -->
00:02:05.785It is to me because I have been down this path. I definitely have.
00:02:06.633 -->
00:02:12.728And our scripture today is Galatians 6.9 for the New Kings Version.
00:02:13.204 -->
00:02:26.950And it says, And let us not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.
00:02:29.069 -->
00:02:35.041Now, I love the honesty in the scripture, because it acknowledges something
00:02:35.041 -->
00:02:38.032very human, and that's weariness.
00:02:39.100 -->
00:02:44.341The scripture doesn't say we won't get tired it doesn't say we won't become
00:02:44.341 -->
00:02:52.301discouraged it simply reminds us not to stay there because there is a promise
00:02:52.301 -->
00:02:54.089attached to perseverance,
00:02:55.224 -->
00:02:58.638and that promise says in due season,
00:02:59.938 -->
00:03:10.625not your season not my season but due season that means It's the appointed season, the right season,
00:03:11.368 -->
00:03:15.617and the season that comes after preparation has done its work.
00:03:18.862 -->
00:03:25.579Now, one of the challenges of slow growth is that we often focus only on what we can see.
00:03:26.594 -->
00:03:31.627But some of the most important growth happens beneath the surface.
00:03:33.351 -->
00:03:38.750Think about a seed, for example. For a period of time, nothing appears to be
00:03:38.750 -->
00:03:40.840happening once we've planted that seed.
00:03:41.821 -->
00:03:47.713Yet, beneath the soil, everything is happening. The roots are forming.
00:03:49.634 -->
00:03:53.319Life is developing. And strength is being established.
00:03:54.039 -->
00:04:00.936And if someone judged the process too early, they might assume nothing was growing at all.
00:04:01.859 -->
00:04:08.587And the same can happen in our lives. You may not see immediate results, dear listeners.
00:04:09.330 -->
00:04:12.371But that doesn't mean growth isn't occurring.
00:04:13.474 -->
00:04:19.471You may not see the breakthrough, but that doesn't mean preparation isn't happening.
00:04:20.504 -->
00:04:27.842You may not see the harvest immediately, but that doesn't mean the seed isn't developing.
00:04:29.479 -->
00:04:34.152Growth often becomes visible long after it begins.
00:04:36.555 -->
00:04:38.738So let's return to this promise.
00:04:40.949 -->
00:04:47.962Where it says in due season we shall reap if we faint not,
00:04:49.326 -->
00:04:58.380it says not might reap not could reap but it says shall reap but the invitation
00:04:58.380 -->
00:05:01.376is to remain faithful while we wait,
00:05:03.924 -->
00:05:08.400So your empowerment prompt for this week I want you to take a few minutes this
00:05:08.400 -->
00:05:09.990week And reflect on these.
00:05:12.654 -->
00:05:21.489Where am I feeling discouraged by slow progress? Am I measuring growth only by visible results?
00:05:23.741 -->
00:05:27.428What might be developing beneath the surface that I cannot yet see?
00:05:29.158 -->
00:05:33.018And how can I remain faithful in this season of waiting?
00:05:35.317 -->
00:05:38.168Now as always, I'm going to repeat those prompts for you.
00:05:38.238 -->
00:05:46.543The first one says, where am I feeling discouraged by slow progress?
00:05:48.511 -->
00:05:52.022Am I measuring growth only by visible results?
00:05:53.752 -->
00:05:57.816What might be developing beneath the surface that I cannot yet see?
00:05:59.075 -->
00:06:03.133And how can I remain faithful in this season of waiting?
00:06:05.095 -->
00:06:12.694Remember, slow growth is still growth And faithfulness is never wasted.
00:06:15.416 -->
00:06:22.980So in closing, my friends If growth feels slow right now I want you to take heart,
00:06:24.031 -->
00:06:30.329And don't mistake quiet seasons for unproductive ones Don't mistake waiting
00:06:30.532 -->
00:06:37.168for failure and don't underestimate what God may be cultivating beneath the surface.
00:06:38.839 -->
00:06:46.818Stay rooted, stay faithful, and trust that what has been planted will flourish
00:06:46.818 -->
00:06:48.595in its appointed season.
00:06:50.929 -->
00:06:56.598So I don't know if this message, I know for a fact that this message was meant
00:06:56.598 -->
00:07:00.501for me because I am definitely in that season of waiting.
00:07:01.564 -->
00:07:04.234And if you are, I want you to remember this.
00:07:05.766 -->
00:07:06.504Remember.
00:07:09.256 -->
00:07:16.745To stay rooted, to stay faithful, and don't underestimate what God may be cultivating
00:07:16.745 -->
00:07:19.787beneath the surface on your behalf.
00:07:21.162 -->
00:07:27.612Okay? Trust that what has been planted will flourish in its appointed season.
00:07:30.108 -->
00:07:34.229I want to thank you for joining me for episode 4 of our June series,
00:07:34.537 -->
00:07:38.078Freedom to Flourish, Growing into What God Has Planted.
00:07:39.349 -->
00:07:45.427And next week we'll close out our June journey with flourishing in every season.
00:07:46.848 -->
00:07:51.980So until next time, y'all listeners, I want you to live boldly in your power today.
00:07:52.560 -->
00:07:55.457And if it gets tough, just breathe.
